its so much fun to go there and watch planes land, on runway 4. i like going there, when im in town.
I grew up in Woodside. Lived on 62nd. St., right behind The Bulova Watch Factory on Woodside Ave. On rainy days, or when the prevailing winds were out of the North- which was fairly often, I'd sit at my window and watch the show. Aircraft were- I estimate, at about 500 ft. AGL, at that point. I was in the direct final approach for Runway 4. I lived in that house from 1962, until 1980. I saw a BIG variety of great classic aircraft, one after the other. Lockheed Constellations, DC- 3, 4, 6, 7,'s, Vickers Viscounts, Lockheed Electras, YS-11's, Plenty of Convair 240-340-440's - piston and turbine conversions, A LOT of corporate planes like Lockheed Lodestars, Howard 500's, Aero Commanders, Beech 18's, Beech Debonairs, Gulfstream 1's, and small feeder liners like Fairchild F-27's, and DeHavilland Doves and Herons. Then, the jets came.. Noisy, smoky 727-100, 727-200's, DC-9, BAC 1-11, Fokker F-28's, and Lear 23's, Hansa Jets, Lockheed Jetstars, North American Sabreliners, G2's, and Jet Commanders. There were also a lot of GA airplanes, like Twin Beech's, All kinds of Cessnas, and other types. It was a great time to live where I did and be an airplane lover. I'm a very lucky man.
What amazes me now, at the surprising lack of diversity in the aircraft landing at LGA. I wonder why that is....
Excellent video man! Lots of great catches here! Guess what? Not only did I like, but I subbed to your channel! :)
Thank you very much!
I'm not American, but where are the 737's of Delta? They don't often go to LGA?
