I was in preschool when this film came out. It's been one of my favorites ever since. Nothing like a crazed hero, with good in his heart, fighting the government over Los Angeles. Good job John Badham and Roy Scheider.
I was around six when this came out and remember my dad renting it on VHS. This song made a big impact on me at that age and I've been a fan of electronic music since.
I was 9 years old when i say the big poster at an Underground Subway in New York 1982. i didnt see it till following year summer of 1983 in early days of cable tv. Utter Nostalgia!!!
There was an excellent Dance/Disco 12" version of Blue Thunder too. Had all the synthesized bells and whistles as above but, understandably, faster paced. Can't remember who did it and I'm too lazy to open up my stored '80's 12 inchers.
Strange that they made a TV show after the movie, because the whole point of the movie is that using an armored attack helicopter for police work is wrong.

Lalo Schifrin borrowed this theme for the movie Black Moon Rising.
