Wow. Look at all the snow! Beautiful scenery and enjoyed the tree skiing! I’m glad VA finally getting some snow after years of none! 😊 Makes for an exciting winter ❄️
nice! it definitely made the resort better! It gets very icy there sometimes with the lower elevation, but not a terrible spot overall. skiing is skiing right!
Mid-A is eating good right now! Want to check this place out at some point on one of my WV trips, maybe as a side day trip. Looks pretty nice with everything opened up and some solid tree skiing! The Cat got a good dump with this little southern storm we had this week(although where I'm at it underperformed with only an inch of ice...not the 6+ inches we were supposed to get, lol) so looks like they are fully open now. Going to have to try to get out some more these next couple of weeks. Another Canaan trip is in order toward the end of January now that they have Gravity and some other trails opened up.
dude, we are experiencing the winter of a lifetime haha. Every chance you get needs to be shredding this season, its firing on all cylinders man! CV is so tempting to get to again if they open up the Meadows, haven't skied there in ages lol
@@ADHski From their report this week they are fully open including Dark Side of the Moon. I hope the snow holds for the end of the month and I can get some days off work.
@@ADHski Checked the trail report this morning. 40/45 open including the Meadows, Glades, and Dark Side. Oddly enough Gravity is closed for some reason after they had it open last week. They are expecting more snow this week as well, they just needed me to visit and then leave...I swear this is the 3rd time this has happened now, lol.
It is a Virginia double black. A hard blue in Colorado. It gives the skiers there something to work towards. They don't have many options locally and their season is about 8 weeks long in a good year so don't take it from them.
Looks great! I went to Canaan Valley today, and the conditions did not disappoint! Lots of great powder. I’m moved here last year, in mid-March, and am glad to see we’re getting some serious snow!
nice to hear from you man! I was curious what you thought of our skiing! CV is a great little spot and the snow holds well there in WV. jackpot season for you around here!
@@ADHski I was very impressed with CV…some decently steep runs, which had some moguls forming while we were there, and some glades and runs that were cut pretty narrow, which seemed to have excellent snow quality.
@@wnee1 that's great to hear that you still had fun out there. That's what its all about anyways ! yeah the elevation in that valley certainly helps the snow quality. this has been a special season over there
I was very pleasantly surprised by Massanutten back in 2014. It was two days after the Pitchers & Catchers day storm and a blue bird day. I probably skied better that day than I ever have that day. Stretching every day makes a difference! I did a half day two seasons ago after a March squall. I'm really eager to see the new trails.
nice to hear from you my friend! they've certainly made a few key improvements there that make the experience much better than in the past. absolutely worth the trip down this season, everywhere is skiing amazing currently!!
@@ADHski I wish I had done my PTO a little differently and actually checked the Massanutten web site. The got the black diamonds open earlier than normal this season.

Yeah it was a great day! There's something to be said for some good, solid Virginia snow!
What a beautiful day on the slopes! Better than none! Shred on! ⛷️
thank you! that's what it is all about, just getting outside and having fun!
Man i remember loving this place. Definitely underrated imo that was actually my first ever double black diamond trail i attempted

Another great video - hope to see you on the EPIC side of the house this season.
yeww! thanks Joe, you as well. Snow is so great this season, hope we can get some turns in !
I didn't know this place had 1100 feet of vertical, that's pretty good for this region. Great video!
thank you! not bad vert, but the mountain layout exaggerates that stat a bit, 300 or so of it is the runoff to the base
@ Ah, that’s a sneaky stat then 😄. I’m about 2 hours from the resort, do you think it’s worth a visit?
@@engineear5571 typically i'd say no, but this season with every trail open its worth it, 23 total trails isn't bad!
@ Good to know. I was at Liberty yesterday, and I was really impressed with the conditions after a busy weekend. It’s been a great winter so far!
@@engineear5571 hey I was there too! my next vid haha. I loved under the lift on the backside, was skiing so nice!!

@ lol dude forget this tour i'm on, I need to get to cv asap. I don't think I've skiied the meadows in 20 years hahaha
Had the best hot chocolate with marshmallow at the Nutt
lol well played
Wish we could get a little snow up here at Sunday River. If you get back up this way shoot me a dm. Always good to meet stoke squadders!
ok sounds good, I may have a return trip with Jason planned there, I'll keep you posted man!
While in college I used to teach skiing there. Now my kids go there with their friends.

That was a pretty mellow double black.
No. Black runs in eastern states. Get real. Go west young man.
I think it was a marketing move by them for bragging rights in VA more than difficulty lol
its definitely far steeper than the rest of the mountain, so I'll give them that haha

Awesome coverage on those trees, they ride awesome when the snow really fills in.
I saw them off the lift & figured this would me my only chance to ski trees in VA lol
