Well he’s easy to beat surprisingly for me. But it’s hard to get a Perfect. Vega’s quick, and thus I have a hard time not getting hit at all. If you can achieve even one perfect round against him, I’m impressed.

The same could easily be said about any character (even if your name is Dan or El Fuerte): they can all be deadly if you can play with them properly, yet Tier Lists still exist. - No reliable anti-air - Low Damage Output - Relies too much on his claw (range and damage in his attacks aren't much without it) - Trading hits with your opponent is almost always bad - Low Stun Meter - Lack of strong mixups - No good Reversal - Really hard to combo into both his Ultras He was so good in SF2, but they just had to fuck him up here for some reason.
Funkermonster Yeah, not very many people play with Vega. Personally, I've caused havoc on players ranked higher than me simply because they couldn't defend against my attacks using Vega. Most people play with Ryu, Ken, & Gouken because they're easier to use. The players that cause me the most trouble when I use vega are Blanka, Zangief, & T Hawk.

And I'm not very good at this game admittedly, but I thought Vega's matchups were favorable against Blanka, Zangief, *and* T.Hawk (who's supposed to be his easiest matchup). Are u not poking them with cr.lp or cr.mp to keep em away or something? Are u jumping too much (hint: Vega is *FAR* stronger on the ground)? Zangief and T.Hawk are both really only good up close and most people can just run away from them the entire fight (at least from T.Hawk) and stop them with pokes and fireballs t keep them from getting any closer. They are also the tallest characters in the game and have some of the widest hurtboxes, so they should prepare to eat a lot of crossups. Fatass.... As terrible as I am, I still don't find Vega as strong as he used to be in SF2, and they really hit him hard when putting him in SF4 (Sagat got this too). Nevertheless, even in my beginner level, I chose Vega as my 2ndary main (I Prefer Balrog) and I never play with Ryu or any shoto; most of them don't really interest me (except Sakura and Sean, but the 2nd one isn't in SF4) and I think that *too many* people play with them. The most popular characters are always gonna be the most studied after fighting with or against them for like 100 times.
Funkermonster yeah, but like you said, Vega isn't all that powerful. So 5 hits from Vega = one spinning grab from zangief. Zangief's strength is on the ground, but he also can neutralize the air attacks. same with t hawk. Blanka on the other hand can be difficult wit his quickness and wide range of attacks. But saying I haven't scored victories over all three characters, but those are the ones I have to bring an a game wit the most. Lol
canibus19 Not really, Gief is too slow to beat Vega on the ground and he's pretty damn fat and tall, so he'll basically need to jump a lot just to approach you safely; which should be predictable and easy to anti-air (despite Claw's generally poor anti-airs). To beat Gief and win consistently, you just need to be patient and play lame, keep him away the whole time and learn to utilize Claw's long range pokes. - If he uses Lariat, crouching mk or mp should stop it since his lower area is vulnerable. - Keep him away with a good crouching mp, standing mk, or some other good poke Claw has. If spaced properly, cr.hp and st.hk can also him at bay. - Stay outta the corner, where Gief can destroy you. - Watch out for Empty Jumps, lots of novice Giefs like to do it so they can get a free Ultra 1 for big damage. Since he can't walk to Claw without sacrificing health, he'll have to jump and get anti-aired at every turn. All in all, it can be infuriating; but it shouldn't be too hard to beat Gief with a Time Out Victory by chipping his health the whole time. Same with T.Hawk, too big and slow to approach on the ground and must jump (maybe use Condor Dive) to get it. Admittedly I'm not a greta player at all, but I do know that T.Hawk is not a very good character either and is arguably the worst grappler in the game. Sorry for the slow reply.
