    Above any other message love is the most important. I feel that from both David Belle and Tim Shieff in this interview. Parkour should be a cause that brings people closer together in diversity, not separate us. Thanks for providing us this opportunity to tune into an inspiring message.

      TRURER WORDS WERE NEVER SPOKEN...it's sad that all around the world ther's still so many people who don't know this and still do bullshits on cameras just to selfcelebrate theyrselves on socials ande give tons of lack of respect to each other just beacuse someone else have a different way of thinking about training or what parkour is or isn't and shits like these there's a lot of disinformation...Today, especially the founders promote an elitist practice, where if you are already "approved" by someone inside the ADD academy familiy, you are in, if you have your personal thinking and methods and if you don't think that all of what yamakasi say is gold, you are out. They are afraid of diversity , except the one that has already been approved previously. They are creating a community outside the community dissociating themselves from all those who do not think like them.

    This truly got through to me. I was starting to feel demotivated, unhappy with my current ability level because I'm not as good as some friends and I can't do X,Y and Z. But I think I get it now. Thank you David & Tim for this tutorial on life.

    • @tvogler28
      @tvogler28 10 років тому +17

      It's not about being able to do X,Y and Z. If you know A you're good as long as you are okay with it. Don't compare yourself to your friends, compare yourself to your targets: Learn what YOU want to learn and do it good.
      Like Belle said:'Ne pas chercher être le meilleur, chercher être meilleur.' Don't try to be the best, try to be better, :)

    I had to stop my training almost two years ago due to a knee injury after 10 or so years of Parkour, I figured it was time to move on and focus on other goals etc. That being said I've not felt disconnected from Parkour just because I've simply stopped moving, i've always felt connected weather it be through dance or swimming and have always found that the concept, the well being and mentality has been the same but perhaps when the time is right I'll train again one day. I listen to these words and honestly Tim, i think you've done the community proud speaking to David and putting a lot of misconceptions and rumours to rest. Very inspiring and reassuring.

      I hope you don't mind me asking. But how did your injury occur while training? I too had a knee injury but after time was able to continue training. So if you don't mind I just would like to know how yours happened.

    • @WaterandSpirit
      @WaterandSpirit 10 років тому

      ***** guess what? You and I had the same injury. I tore my lcl lateral collateral ligament or meniscus if you will doing Parkour. I had to get an athroscopy done. A year almost two later im back training. Sometimes it gets swollen but it depends on the drops I take and how much shock my knee absorbs. But I have different shoes I wear to prevent that. Looks lizke we're on the same path. Im actually teaching someone Parkour right now. And I myself hope to become better and stay safe at the same time. I too felt this was and is my passion. Because I have never felt this way about anything else in life. Not even other sports I played. This is what I love and im glad I didnt let it slip away. Dont let parkour slip away from you. Do What yu love. Strengthen your knee the best you can. And just be careful. If you look at the last video I uploaded. That was after surgery. You can do it

      ***** He's an older guy who lives in france, a free spirit so to speak. some people find him eccentric, and the likes of erwan le corre (founder of movnat) have also trained with him. They would do things like scale buildings late at night or jump from high bridges into freezing water in pitch darkness, and crawl through silently through the sewers, honing their skill base.

    Beautiful. Glad to see Tim and David talking heart to heart. This and the interview with Foucan I will have to watch atleast 10 times to soak it all in. Also I'm preety sure the reason Tim talked on his own philosophy is because as a practitioner of Parkour he wants to see what the founder thinks of it and if they work well together.

    • @TimShieff
      @TimShieff 10 років тому +40

      Precisely. Training parkour and doing it for a career in many ways I have followed davids footsteps and feel a certain way about things I wanted to clarify that he came to the same conclusions I came to and what his deeper thoughts on them were. I.E. doing it professionally for pay and being filmed taking the soul away from why we all did it in the first place.

    Wow. We finally get to hear from the thoughts and perspective of the father of Parkour, David Belle. Everything he talks about in here are things that I have discovered within the past 2 years. If you want to know how us expert 'urban ninjas' feel about what we do, here's a good video to watch. Be positive, don't listen to any negative criticism given to you, press forward in your own movement, and don't let anyone make you think that what you're calling Parkour isn't because you added acrobatics and style in it. It's what you make out of it that counts.

    I've always doubted my self ever since I've started this sport. I started because I loved the idea of progression, and becoming one with yourself, with the movement and what you can achieve. I've been around my friends who are far superior to me, but I am blessed that they help me out when needed. But this video has definitely opened my eyes a lot more, and now i've become a lot more aware. It's inspired more than anything, and I will continue to push and push to get to my own goals, and not no one else's. I will be where I want to be one day and to make my own decisions which will benefit me in general, and once again, this video has helped me see that. I want to be able to thank you David and Tim for this interview if you see this, and I loved everything about it. I will watch it continuously and thank you for everything for the development and formation of this amazing community. Thank you :)

    When I go outside, and I see a spot that might be good for parkour, I cannot resist the urge to go play on it. And sometimes I think: "How can someone not like parkour?" Because it is kind of hard to understand how someone can not like something you love so much and something that makes you feel so good.

    It's amazing how your individual path can bring you to the same conclusion as the other people you never met. At the time, when I was doing parkour about three years, I thought that this comes with the movement automatically. But as the time passed by I realized that what makes you understand other people is not the movement itself, it's your desire to get the answers from yourself, to develop not only your body, but your heart and personality. That's the thing Danny was talking about in Choose not to fall, which I've personally seen maybe 50 times, but I was able to understand it properly when I found truth in myself.
    Well, enough of essays for today, thank you Tim for this amazing interview, hope one day I can meet with you :)

    I feel so much more at ease after hearing this, all the conflict within the community should be a lot less after these words from the man that started it all. Good Interview.
