This movie really opened my eyes as a child. I remember laying on the couch watching it with my mom and we were crying. I couldn't believe that someone could be so evil to just steal a child's life for their own selfish desires. Steven was so strong,he endured hell just to go home and get rejected. This is a tragic story.
Steven Stayner was a hero and he saved another child's life and this poor kid went thru hell and back. I saw this movie and it made me think of Steven Stayner and his life and how everything was so bad for him and he died at the age of 24 and he was in this movie as a cameo as a POLICE OFFICER** Timmy White even died years after... the little boy that Steven rescued from Kenneth Parnell. He died of Cancer and he tried to take another child but this time he was caught**** Steven was beaten and starved and he nearly died too. He will always be a hero to me. RIP Steven Stayner.... your with GOD now. Fly high
I am German. In 1990 my mom sent me to friends in England to improve my English. I was just a teenager and my English wasn't good enough to understand the dialogs of a movie. But this movie caught my attention. Somehow I understood everything and I still remember how sad I felt in the end. 16 years ago there was a girl in Austria who escaped from her kidnapper after 8 years. First thing that came into my mind was Steven.
Read books and his interview.he wasn't happy in the first place.when he finally back to home.father didn't want to hug him.mother yell his bad habits.they didn't understand why he changed.he had so much pain inside and he was too broken.he needed help.parents said no about treatment or therapy.before he died he left words like this.they made me feel like i shouldn't come back..there's no place at home..for me.horrible..just horrible after long trapped by psychopass. At least..He was happy with His wife she seemed nice person and their kids saved him.i belived. I know these kind of parents everywhere.just toxic abusive one. Anyway..RIP Steaven and.. Timothy..
It was a very different time. And regardless who are you to judge his parents? You have no idea what they went through while Steven was gone or when he came home!
Watched it tonight on tv , broke my heart , its 2019 now so I understand more than his parents and classmates , he was a victim , he needed just to be understood and to let live ,

Wasn't rejected dude, you like many others need to get their facts straight.
It is a powerful story and one that happens now still
This film deserves to be on Netflix or Hulu
The docu is on Hulu and they show clips from the tv movie
Use to be on true movies the good old times
No it deserves to be on UA-cam for free

Judging from the way you write, I have a difficult time believing that you've ever read anything.

The documentary is really done poorly, the role playing of actors reading scripts is just so cheezy.
It pulls focus....🤮
