I honestly think the subscription services will get totally fucked by the strikes, but the production companies are so out of touch (like you said) that the only product they will provide will be "reality TV". They (Netflix, Max, Prime, Apple etc) will ultimately raise the cost of their subscriptions claiming its "for the writers and production value" but continue to give us crap.
Then they lose more subs, and lose more cash Win win I know amazon and Disney are hurting for subs to D+ and prime, so the quicker they do this and kill themselves off the better hahahaha
Charlie please take saving Netflix into your own hand and finally release that Moistverse documentary with tier lists moby huges moist meters moist esports and more as an retired professional actor in one of the biggest dystopian trilogy 👏🏼🫶🏻
The reason why Netflix is "doing well" on paper is because of their international productions. They may be going weak in the US, but theyre very dominant in a lot of markets. Imagine countries that don't even have Prime or Hulu and Netflix is your only foreign subscription? That's the case for a lot of countries.
As someone from the same general area as him, Cleveland twitter is ablaze with how Jake and Logan are gonna make their childhood sound like they grew up in the worst parts of Cleveland, when they didn't.
Documentary shows are meant to be about things your not educated in. That almost no one knows about. I don't understand alot of fighters making their own Documentarys especially when they are superstars (everyone knows about them already) It's red pill and just consumerism. Go and watch a couple of Documentarys about Lebanon children and their day to day lives. It's an HONEST eye opener
They greenlight a lot of stuff from amateur filmmakers who just went out of filmschool and somehow got a budget. You can really notice that with the horror genre.
I find amateur filmmakers who haven't gone to film school have their own unique way of making films/shorts. I think Netflix needs more of those people. I've seen many amazing short films on UA-cam that were made by people who have years of experience but never went to film school or had a big budget. Just a camera and editing.
Netflix takes the comedians approach with quick jokes, put out as many as you can in a short amount of time and one of them is bound to get people laughing
I can tell you why they’re coming out with them now. Back in 2017/2018 Netflix put out their new requirements for things to be shot on if you wanted to submit it, and made it public. To the shock and surprise of many film students and faculty alike, (I know because I was in film school at the time) the camera minimums were things that a lot of people who did videography for a living could afford, or already had. Moreover, Netflix had just released Making a Murderer to critical acclaim, and that was the direction Netflix wanted to go in and try out. So Netflix then put out a “bounty” of sorts, and advertised that they wanted to buy up any and all documentaries that they could, in order to have a catalogue to burn through and find the next Making a Murderer. Problem is, there was no real quality check on these things. So what people were submitting were just generally trash, and now because Netflix needs releases, it’s what we’re getting in 2023.
I love watching Charlie on the subject of any of the Paul brothers cause he gets so emotional seeing them do literally anything. He can find a clip of them breathing and he'll make a 20 minute video rant about it.

This is why we have a writers strike right now. Netflix can pump out so many shows to see what sticks, because the writers are so severely under paid. They lowball creators in hopes at least ONE show takes off.
My boyfriend accidentally bought the prime energy drink thinking it was the hydration one ( tried to explain that energy drinks are usually in a can and hydration in plastic). Anyway, we decided we would share it on Sunday. It has like 300mg of caffeine.. I asked what a red bull has and he said that had 110mg. I literally felt like I was fucked up on drugs on that shit; trying to function in public… it was terrible. That should have some government warning labels on that shit because that was CRAZYYYY.
They get away with this by going "well the serving size of the bottle is two fifths of a tidlywink and that does contain the normal amount of caffeine."
Takes the time to prepare us for the absolute heated, foul language we're all about to endure. "Netflix is a bunch of dummies". Thank you Charlie, my 112 year old grandmother was in the other room dying and the last thing I wanted her to hear while doing so is language
The only Netflix original that came out this year that I cared about was Nimona because Nimona was something I've held dear to my heart since it started off as the author's school project.
Quarterback was actually really good and interesting. At least if you care about football at all. Not a sit down thing it was cool to see them on and off the field.
you were still right about password sharing. they were inevitably going to go up in subs because they weren't losing anyone who was paying. that's going to be a long term bleed since those people will have tried other streaming services or at least had them shoved in their face enough that a good chunk are trying something new. corporate can make any number look good. it's good until it isn't.
I was expecting Charlie to go ham with the swears as soon as he apologised in advance for it, but he kept it hilariously clean for a whopping SEVENTY seconds! It’s good to know that he hasn’t stopped mocking the UA-cam “No Swearing for Forty-Five Seconds” thing. He ain’t the only one who mocks YT’s pedantry for being family-friendly (despite making YT Kids); GmanLives did it in one of his videos by leaving… it was either a segment for Manhunt or Soldier of Fortune till last.
Blumhouse production's entire business model is throw small amounts of money to fund every single horror script they see and this works out well for them, cus the occasional hit outweighs the amount of slop they release tenfold
To be fair, I wouldn't be surprised is most of these products are too retain rights, part of brand deals, or flat out for tax reasons. It happens with the major studios too but most people don't realize it. I've worked on crap for months of my life with them and others just to see it dropped on TUBI unceremoniously. It's a business tool.
there are literal free youtube videos summarizing Jake's "work" which will be shorter and more straight to the point than the Netflix doc will ever be.
Kinda sad that netflix pumped out 900+ netflix originals that no one ever watches but cancel actually good shows that has more views than all of those 900+ netflix originals
I agree! There has been a few Netflix shows that were so good and they never would renew the show. Even when they were super popular and people wanted new seasons!
I think it'll be about him training for fights, it'll be dirt cheap for them to make and people will either hate-watch it or watch it because they're unironically interested in him as a boxer. I have little doubt drama channels will have videos about how awful it is when it comes out, so people like Charlie will be watching it too.
I like a couple of the things Netflix does. They did a fantastic job on the Arnold Schwarzenegger documentary, and they took over Nimona after blue sky collapsed and it’s great.
Netflix will never have a big catalogue of on going popular shows with the way they do business, because once a show gets big, those working on the show have greater negotiating power for their contracts. And Netflix does not like that.
netflix could easily bring back something like Olan Rogers' Final Space if they really cared to fund really cool and creative content creator ideas. that show had an actually good premise, story, not related to Olan at all other than he was lead voiceman. It would be a great PR move on their part and they get a really good show people want back, because it was cancelled with a merger from Warner Bros. Maybe it's not that simple, but Netflix throws money at anything anyway?
Most of the Animated Shows on Netflix died on only 1 Season. The death of 'Inside Job' is the greatest piece of irony and sadness I have seen on Earth.

Their parents weren't rich at all lol
100% obvious that kid never did anything hard in his life or had to get food from the food bank.
His greatest trial in life was having to choose between 2 different toilets in the same house to take a dump in. You know because he's always trying to prove something and looking like a moron in the process. He's tried everything but just being an actual human being.

Then they lose more subs, and lose more cash
Win win
I know amazon and Disney are hurting for subs to D+ and prime, so the quicker they do this and kill themselves off the better hahahaha
The thing is nobody wants to see the stuff the writers write
That’s why everyone is going broke lmao

"For every one hit they have a thousand shit" 🔥🔥🔥✍✍🔥🔥
The reason why Netflix is "doing well" on paper is because of their international productions. They may be going weak in the US, but theyre very dominant in a lot of markets. Imagine countries that don't even have Prime or Hulu and Netflix is your only foreign subscription? That's the case for a lot of countries.
Yup. In my country there's special mobile data subscriptions for the few streaming platforms we get too. Korean dramas carry Netflix in Asia

We can all agree that if Netflix made a show about Charlie's background in the film industry we'd all watch.
Nah
@@Megalodon_561 yeah the only thing those schools are good for are getting connections

I don’t think at this point that there’s any part of either Paul’s story that remains “untold”.
Is this the paul brothers alt account
If there was a video of them not breathing Id make a 20 minute video celebration about it

I literally felt like I was fucked up on drugs on that shit; trying to function in public… it was terrible. That should have some government warning labels on that shit because that was CRAZYYYY.

It seems that Netflix is running out of serial killers to make documentaries of.
"For every one hit, they have a thousand shit". Charlie gives us a small glimpse of his immense bars.
“For every 1 hit, they have a 1000 shit” is the best description for Netflix as a whole 😂
I love how genuine he is and realistic to the point.
Blumhouse production's entire business model is throw small amounts of money to fund every single horror script they see and this works out well for them, cus the occasional hit outweighs the amount of slop they release tenfold
but that is much different than a series or show, as movies are only an hour or two. on top of that Blumhouse didn't release 900 movies last year

It's called Taskmaster
To be fair, I wouldn't be surprised is most of these products are too retain rights, part of brand deals, or flat out for tax reasons. It happens with the major studios too but most people don't realize it. I've worked on crap for months of my life with them and others just to see it dropped on TUBI unceremoniously.
Nimona fucken slaps!!
Charlie's so good at roasting he even rymes it😂
Most of the Animated Shows on Netflix died on only 1 Season. The death of 'Inside Job' is the greatest piece of irony and sadness I have seen on Earth.
