Delightfully simple just like the p2s, so no excuse to not change the oil regularly. Love the drain plug on the oil filter housings, saves making a mess.
I have done any diy on my volvos including brakes, timing belt, etc but as a rule I have tried to avoid dealing with fluids like oil, coolant etc. yesterday I broke that rule and did a simple oil change on my 240. What a mess. I will be bringing my 2015 xc70 to the dealer. In the video there is a lift, proper light and a nice big collection tray.
My wife's 2015 V60 T5 2.0L Turbo 4cyl was bought this past fall with 72k mi. Had a fresh oil change at a Volvo dealership with the recommended 0-20 Castrol and tag that said to change oil in 10k mi. I had to add oil after the first 400mi. that she drove it. I added a quart and another 400 mi. later I needed to add another quart. Instead of the recommended oil I put in a quart of Marvle Mystery Oil. After another 400mi. I needed another quart, this time I added a 20% mixture of MMO and oil and she has since driven the car over 800mi and the level is still showing full. All I can think of is that the rings were stuck and the detergent in the Marvel Mystery Oil unstuck them. I will be changing the oil way before the 10k mark. Hope the oil consumption issue get better and doesn't come back.
@@aguiremedia As of now it is only burning/using a quart every 1,200 to 1,500mi. It goes down the more I put my foot in it. I would love to remove the pistons and enlarge the oil drain back holes and rering it to see if that would stop the oil consumption altogether. Or just get an engine from a auto salvage to rebuild then swap it out.
I had a good little chuckle seeing they used P2 hood insulator clips to hold the splash cover on and what looks like the same oil drain plug and washer as a P2 as well. Nice to know my stockpile of 25 crush washers should work fine on ny next S60.

Hey, thanks for the video, you did not show the effect of the Ceratec / flush. BTW is the flush and additives really necessary if I use high quality oil such as Motul 0W20 Volvo approved oil?
I've seen people add cheap oil after the 10-minute wait period to flush out the remaining residue and then drain out the oil again and then add the new oil afterwards. Basically, two oil changes. This video went straight to adding new oil after the first drain out. Is that a proper way to use the engine flush? Thanks
I am confused about the Ceratec: I thought this was NOT compatible with wet clutches. As far as I am aware all Volvo S/V 90 from 2017 use wet clutches in their auto gear boxes. Could you please clarify? Thank you. Yours is another superb video (usually I watch the ones re Porsches) and superbly produced as well, superb work which is appreciated
Hi Six, you are correct in not wanting to use Ceratec with wet clutches! Ceratec would be acceptable for a manual gearbox vs an auto with any clutch components in it. Thank you for the continues support!
I'm not sure if I understand your concern, but in the video he's adding ceratec directly to the engine. This has no affect on the transmission. Adding ceratec to a wet clutch transmission when doing a transmission oil change will damage the transmission, but adding ceratec to the engine has no such effect.
I noticed that Volvo is sending out letters indicating that my 2017 Volvo XC90 should be using 0W-20 oil rather than the originally specified 5W-30 oil. Can you share some insight? Any inside information would be helpful. thanks
My brother works at a volvo dealer. He asked the master tech and was told that all the 2.0l 4 cylinder turbo engines should only be using the 0w-20 oil.
On these Volvos do they have the air bag suspension, where before you lift it you have to decompress the air pressure otherwise it'll fuck it up and cost a lot to replace that suspension part. I know the Land Rovers have them.

You need to deduct volumes for the additives! Do not simply pour in half a liter/liter of the flushing agent if your oil level is on max already! Literally says so on the bottles from LM... Same goes with Ceratec, you need to deduct it from your total oil fill volume...
