Thanks ever so much for your video on Billie Holiday 😢 it breaks my heart knowing what she went through , some artists had such difficult back stories, you can only appreciate their talents all the more so thanks to Angelina and her family exposing her to it , now a lot more younger ones can hear this type of music also. It's all good her memory will live on. I myself only heard her music in old movies and loved it❤😂
Billie was the most improvisational singer of all time, and even though she was uneducated and had no true musical mentor, she revolutionized the genre of jazz/blues. Angelina has stated in an interview with Nadia Neophytou, ' I have to say if it wasn't for the unconditional love that came from Billie Holiday's legendary music, THERE WOULD BE NO ANGELINA JORDAN TODAY'. Angelina has heard all the great singers but only Billie is placed by her 'alone' at the top of the musical pedestal. When you closely examine all Billie's unique improvisations, you come to realize where Angelina learned her phrasing, nuance, inflections, breathy releases, and a host of other facets concerning musicality that are evident in her singing. Other than the use of 'slurring' line ending words that Amy Winehouse was known for, there is basically nothing else she would have gleaned from an artist other than Billie Holiday.
