We loved the ark and creation museum. Tip for the Ark, start at the top and work your way down. Less busy.
Adding that to my notes. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the tip! Thats a great idea!!
Great tips! We had a mess up with our packet as well. We didn't receive all our tickets. Hansie Flip Burgers was a good place to eat in Williamstown.
It was great to meet you. Thanks for all your content.
Yes!!!! It was so nice to meet you as well!! 🩷
This conference sounds awesome!!! I didn’t kno the museums are 1 hr apart!!! We would stay in a big city!!! That hotel looks awesome!!! Ken ham is poplar!!! I remember hearing him speak asa teenager in Australia!!! We went to the ark 10 years ago but not been to the creation museum!!! I don’t have a problem with Disney but I know they aren’t Christian so we are careful of what we watch!!!
Oh wow!!!! Yeah that’s so cool that you saw him in Australia!!! I love his accent!!! 🩷
I miss the classic Disney!! It’s changed so much! But I definitely have fond memories of what it used to be!
@@OurHOMEschoolPlan Yes, once you see you can't unsee. (Even the old "safe" stuff, if you really dig in and look.) We refuse to give them a single dime anymore. It's sad. Like watching a childhood friend succumb to drugs or something...and I'm not an enabler.
I went the 1st year. Loved the conference. It was our 2nd time to the ark and creation museum... can't wait to go again
So you went when it was 5 days??? Were there speakers every day?
Awesome, thank you so much for the info!
You’re welcome!
Ahhhh!!! I was so glad to watch this video!! But I remembered that this conference happens when we likely have a dance recital. Ugh. I sooo want to take my kids next spring! Why do we dance!? lol. This was so helpful, and I really appreciate you putting together this video!! Also, as a side note: I can’t wait to see if you are doing a review of your bible time from this past year - and what you may do for next year!
Bummer!!!
I didn’t do much different for our Bible time this year so there’s not much to report. We continued to use the Generations of Grace Family Devotional. I may give an update on the Made In Our Image book I’m doing with my teens. But we haven’t finished the book yet. We’re slow!
I just kept our Bible time simple this year because I had so many very specific spiritual needs of my kids to tackle 1x1.
I have ideas for next year, in terms of spiritual things we will try to concentrate on. I always hate to say, “This is my plan.” And then not get to it bc something else came up. So I was thinking maybe I’d share if when we actually start it. 🤪 or maybe I’ll share what’s on my heart. These teen years have got me on my knees like no other time of motherhood! Completely helpless is a good place to be so that the power of Christ may rest upon me! 🩷
Wow!! I'm ready to go tomorrow! Extremely informative. TY so much. 🤗💕
You’re welcome! ☺️
Great video. Our family went several years ago to the Ark and the Creation Museum. It was fantastic then as well.
🩷I can’t wait to see what else they come up with!!!!
This is great! Sending this video to my hubby as we work on planning our first trip to the Ark & Creation Museum. 🥳🥳🥳
Yeah!!!! I’ve wanted to go at Christmas time too to see the lights!! But you’d probably freeze!!! 😂 definitely wouldn’t be able to enjoy the playgrounds as much if it’s cold!
@@OurHOMEschoolPlan and you’ve got a year on those refillable cups… do they serve hot cocoa in the winter?!? 🤣
My family would super freeze. Winter for us means daytime temp of 70s, nighttime of 50s. 🥶 I’m the only one who has even seen snow. Not to mention how much we would have to spend on snow clothes. The only closed toed shoes we own are one pair of sneakers each and some rain boots 🫣🤣🤪🏝️🩴
@@Homeschooling_with_the_Riveras 😂😂😂 so maybe Christmas is out! 🤪
I don’t know
About hot cocoa! That’s a good question!
Thank you so much for the advice. My friend and I are going to attend next year but with watching your video I think we will make it into a family week long vacation instead!
Same here!
Yes!!! There’s so much you could do and maybe relax a bit more than we did!
Thanks so much for all of the details! We hope to visit soon.
You’re welcome!!!! ☺️
We’ve been to the Ark. I really appreciate this video and I am glad you split it up into different pieces.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I want to go soooooo back!
When were you last there???
I haven't been to either, but I'm tired just watching what you all did. 😂
It’s a great time!!!! You should go!
We love the Ark and Creation Museum! Great tips…we’ve been to that conference-I agree with your tips.
Yah!! Did I miss anything???
@@OurHOMEschoolPlan I don’t think so!
Did you get to attend Heidi St. John’s mom’s night out? It’s worth it!
@@ceifaci i did not attend. I’d love to know what those are like. But if it’s just another “speech,” I think by the end of the night, I’m fizzled out and am ready to relax with my family. So I’ve never attended one of those.
@@OurHOMEschoolPlan -when I went-it was snacks, coffee, and lots of laughter. Along with a q&a. Heidi St John made it really relaxed and made sure everyone was taken care of.
We went a couple years ago and had a great time. We met an awesome family that became our friends. We loved the Creation Museum, but TBH, I didn’t love the ark.
I liked the CM better as well! But I’m very much looking forward to seeing what they come up with next. I’ve heard they’re building a “Jerusalem” land. A walk through of the city??? Something like that.
@@OurHOMEschoolPlan Well that's frickin (pardon my French) COOL!!
Pausing because oops! I forgot to grab pen and paper to take notes!! OK back to it LOL
Edit: Whew! I'm tired just watching that!
I've had this on my bucket list ever since I first heard of it a couple years ago. We've only ever taken ONE vacation but I think we should maybe save up and splurge to do this as a week long adventure next year.
So, how much would you recommend having set aside for this per person, excluding admission? Just food and souvenirs/merchandise? I know it'll vary from person to person, family to family, but what would you say is a good ballpark baseline amount? I'm not asking how much YOU spent...that's none of my beeswax...I just want to know roughly how much we would need to save up for this. I can calculate gas and hotels, outside food, etc just fine so I really just want to know how much would we should plan to budget for JUST at these places.
Thanks for taking us with and giving us all these great tips. I love that you broke it down into sections. I color coded them and I'm going to go back over them with highlighters for the bits that are most important to me and my family.
PS- How cool that you got recognized and someone said hi!
I have no idea how much you should set aside. I’d say for meals, count on about $10/person per meal. Souvenirs aren’t terrible. I think the t shirt I bought was $25. The stuffed animals were around $20. Books!!!! You’ll want to budget for books. If you do the planetarium. It’s $10/person. The virtual reality at the Ark was $15/person.
I’m not sure what to tell you to budget!!! 🤪
@OurHOMEschoolPlan Oh no worries, your answer honestly helps quite a bit actually! We'd spend the most on books and educational stuff (because of course! LOL) but I can totally see us getting shirts n whatnot too. Prices, compared to other places weve looked at/been to, seem actually fairly decent. Thank you!!
If I get AnswersTV and go to the conference, I could watch the speakers online later and explore for seven days, right?? 😂
I think so!!! My sister in law didn’t go to the conference but she was watching the speakers through answers TV! They get them uploaded pretty quickly (unless it’s live…maybe it’s live, I’m not sure!)
@@OurHOMEschoolPlan fantastic and thorough review. We almost went this year, but will definitely go next year. I will say hi if I see you for sure. Your ministry has been incredibly helpful to me since I found your channel eighteen months ago. Thank you.
@@EncouragingKay thank you so much!!
We have been to the Ark and Creation Museum several times. We enjoy the College Fair at the Ark that they put on each November. Kids in 7th grade to Senior get in free and they offer a discount for the adults. Do you think going to the keynote speakers at the Homeschool Experience was worth the trip verses going another time of the year.
You know, I’m not sure! Versus going at the college fair time? Or another conference? I think the discount and the exclusive events are worth going during a conference!
