This literally happened to me. One day I refused to sing the national anthem (because as a citizen of the so-called “land of the free,” I should have the freedom to voice my disapproval for the state of the country), and the conversation with my dad went as follows:
My dad: “Why won’t you sing the national anthem? Do you hate America?”
Me: “No, I just don’t really like it that much.”
My dad: _snorts_ “What, would you rather move to North Korea?”

I love my country, but I’ll acknowledge its flaws and want it to be better in lots of ways. Though there are countries that are ruining themselves without the U.S. interfering. The U.S. has definitely stuck its nose in places it shouldn’t have, but not all the world’s problems are caused by America. Some are cause by the countries themselves or other countries doing things to other countries.
