Bungie was so humble about this, and it turned out to be one of the best games of all time. Just goes to show how talented they were before splitting up.
Reach is not really that great. More like Okay. Ce, 2, and 3 were amazing. Reach improved in some areas but failed in lots of others.
Joseph F That’s a pretty unpopular opinion to be honest. Reach’s campaign is right up there with all the others. It has phenomenal storytelling that is hardly matched at all by the other halos. The multiplayer has a couple flaws that only hardcore fans would point out, but otherwise people don’t really give a shit about (i.e bloom and armor abilities). I had the most fun with reach’s multiplayer than any other halo, and many people will agree.
In my opinion reach is the best halo second maybe only to 3. It comes down personal experience.

Regnier575 343 dropped the ball with master chief collection by not including it. I think reach has the best interpretation of what the covenant should be. Elites are savage as fuck.

Regnier575 I actually thought that after posting my past comment that I like how the covenant don't speak english in reach. But then I was thinking that I wouldn't mind if the grunts spoke English though. So long as they are talking smack lol. I might as well just get it all out: #1 I like the tone of the game and the seriousness with which the covenant are treated, part of that being only alien tongues spoken and also the A.I. of Elites and brute chieftans specifically makes it all the more serious. #2 The music is great (of course, Marty O'Donnell) #3 All the species of Covenant are accounted for, which made the battles much more varied. #4 My favorite Hunter battle in the series is the final pair + skirmishers on the final level. #5 Grenade Launcher and Revenant are my favorite weapon and vehicle in the series (plus I was pretty mean with a grenade launcher in multiplayer. I knocked many a banshee out of the sky.) #6 All the new weapons added to the sandbox were awesome it's a damn shame they are gone #7 And probably my last reason, for me this game has the most memorable encounters with covenant in one game. The final pair of hunters, the engineer behind glass with the spiral staircase, all of a sudden fighting brutes for 1.5 levels and then right back to elites with jumpacks, holding the covenant off from halsey's lab, the final few elites in the game with the field marshall....and more.
I think CE had the best story, 2 left a lot to be desired (especially after E3 demo) but told it's story very well and had great voice acting, 3 was satisfying yet easy, odst was too short but might be the most atmospheric of the series, and then Reach was simply the most epic gameplay wise.

Halo Reach took a more Human approach. You’re there when they first arrived until you died protecting a planet that you know it’s slowly losing.
From first contact to extracting and protecting civilians to delivering Cortana to the Autumn initiating Halo CE.

@@ma5cm6g18 Would have been awesome, but playing in a team of SPARTAN III's gave a better impression of a losing fight, as they were weaker than II's. Playing as a team of II's would have been too much like Halo 1-3 Coop.

Reach is the best Halo game to date. There’s something about seeing your own custom Spartan in the cutscenes. Really makes it feel like you’re in the suit.
thats always what it was about, thats why bungie never really gave master chief character development in the games he was made to be a big green husk that you pilot and so he becomes a reflection of you. something 343 has lost and a big reason i think people dont like what 343 did

Just by seeing this trailer, you already know it's not just an FPS, but a game with a story, a heartbreaking story. Even for someone who hasn't played the last 4 Halo games would get chills watching this, hearing the panic and distress calls, and frantic radio chatter. Then seeing the planet go from colorful and ambient and full of life to dark and dying. Then hearing "Noble One" which was never mentioned in the other games ( making halo fans realize we are playing as someone else) and thinking who are we going to be playing as, marines or ODST? Then hearing that sentence: "You got Spartans on the ground, Sir" realizing that you get to play as another Spartans other than Chief.
I'm watching this in 2021, and for me this is the best Halo ever. It's amazing how the crowd reacted to the trailer, not knowing how incredibly the game would be lol
Seeing this live with E3, playing the Beta, preordering it and playing it day 1 for many years. Reach is easily the Halo I have the most time sunk into. It will never be dethroned by 343.

Imagining seeing this in 2009 makes this teaser all the more awesome, not only because Reach was often referred to in the other games as the event that kicked off the events of the games and has brought humanity to its knees, but also just...Spartans (plural!!) on the ground. That must have been crazy!

I remember i was like in fifth or sixth grade i finished my homework on a friday night just to wake up early the next day and watch this on Spike TV's coverage of E3 2009. Begged my dad to pre-order the game for me the next day, and i've gotta say, playing the Reach beta and later the actual game with my friends will be one of my best memories from my childhood

I adore them to death, and prefer most aspects of the lore in CE - 3. But I just can’t stop playing Reach and am planning to purchase every Limited Edition item
VulKus I personally find reach very repetitive with all the non-dlc maps being used in every single mode, but to every man his own.
VulKus I loved Reach too, just can't go back to it with 30fps and terrible online connection because im usually connecting to people from the US and Mexico when im in the UK. If it had dedicated servers and 1080p 60fps itd be so good...
Halo 3 is my favourite of all time though, that campaign was a 10/10 and forge, custom games and matchmaking were so good. Just perfect.

If I remember correctly, people wanted master chief back badly. Knowing a little about reach back then, they knew he wasn’t coming back. People thought Reach was going to be another ODST.

I remember going into EB games when i was a kid, and i’d never played Halo before, and i wanted to get into it. I asked an assistant working there what the first one was, and where to start. He showed me Halo Reach and Halo: CE. I was confused because i thought the first halo game would just be called “Halo”, so i didn’t get CE believing it was a sequel or something.
I bought Reach that day, and i played it with my four best friends for years to come. I remember playing the campaign for the first time with all of them and it was incredible.
Halo will never be the same, now the magic of the storytelling is gone.

Bungie used to be so fucking awesome. Man they sold out big time. They got their billions but at the expense of making fun Halo games for a new generation.

This felt like a Halo game for Halo fans and the subtlety about this trailer shows that. Almost every Halo game up to this point has had some mention of Reach in some way or another. And for those who never read the first novel it's hard to understand how it was one of the darkest days for humanity in the Halo universe.
It seems like a small insignificant detail but I appreciate how Reach is never said in the trailer but the word comes up with the title at the end, the fans knew exactly what game they were getting and Bungie knew that the fans knew. And they expanded on it so well in the "Day Before" advert. It's so incredibly dark and brooding.

Halo Reach was by far my favorite Halo games of all the Halo games. Bungie was magical back then. No other Halo game has ever come close to them. Fingers crossed for a remaster of some sort. I’d always cream my pants when I’d see the top rank on the other team (Inheritor) because I knew I was about to get obliterated 😂
