Spot on. Anyone who understands mma watched Khabib and his technique and were amazed. Even the levels of fitness and stamina needed to do that is on another level. Now we have Islam. Amazingly skilled fighter. We are lucky to be around while these blokes are fighting. Volk will be a good fight but I’m backing Islam 👍

I love khabib. But I’m an American. I don’t want to see Russian fighters on top. Especially given their current state of affairs on the global stage. Russia has been an ally, an enemy , and a revered military force to the USA, but since the Cold War things have not been so great between Russia and USA. When Russian fighters win, it makes Russia look good. I want my country to look good, not Russia. I love the Russian people, but I don’t care for Vladimir Putin. I want Vladimir Putin to appear weak . I want him to get exposed. We though ramzan kadyrov was bad…..just look up some dirt on Putin and kadyrov looks like an infant in the world of military dictators.

Thats not what it is. Islam is more wellrounded then Khabib but no one "at all" can wrestle like Khabib does. Sure Khabibs toughest challenge would be Islam becouse he's so wellrounded but the entire fight would be Khabib making it a grappling match and winning just like everyone else atleast on paper. Islam is more wellrounded and not as good at grappling then Khabib also different physical qualities. Khabib is like a bear for 25 minutes he uses his energy to maul his opponents and Islams approach is different.
Khabib is much better. What Khabib has no fighter will ever have.
At some point, he will be better if he continues to win. Khabib retired so early, Islam will finish what he started, complete and utter domination of the light weight division!
Both are legends. I think it's hard to compare those two, especially considering they are sparing partners since early teenage years. Anyway, I think there is a reason that Khabib is the trainer of Islam (besides friendship and motivation etc.), which would not work the other way round. I believe Khabib has a better overall understanding of the technical, but also tactical part of fighting.

No it definitely cannot be replaced. Even a very average guy, who doesn't compete or train in MMA, but has years and years worth of experience in Wrestling, is going to be a force to be reckoned with for pretty much anyone.

I’m a huge fan of Islam and love the story of him and Khabib and his dad. I love how they don’t get into talking shit and love how much Khabib has done for his country and his religion. That being said, I love how Volcanovski didn’t hesitate to take the fight when getting called out. 2 fighters that are at the top pound for pound, both current champs, and both not having lost a fight in years. Has there ever been a matchup like this??

He's the best active fighter in the UFC and he has a feral quality. I don't believe he feels fear like most people. It's tough to imagine him losing. A fight at 170 against Chimaev is interesting. I think he'll move to 170 before long.
He doesn’t feel fear like most people do because most people fear to fight due to them not knowing how to and being afraid of getting hurt or killed/ embarrassed. Whereas Islam is scared like every other human except his fear like many fighters would come from the chance of losing while being known as one of the best fighters today thanks to his team and fighting career. So there is fear but it’s totally different not to mention there could be several different kinds of things to fear at his level like the fear of losing in that size of an arena although I doubt it fazes him as much as even elite fighters because he’s obviously preformed great under those circumstances.

Conor survived nearly 4 rounds, stuffed takedowns and even got back up after being taken down by Khabib.
It’s not outlandish to think Volk could have slightly more success stuffing takedowns and all the while, a much bigger gas tank.
Can’t wait for this fight.
As Volk himself explained, shorter height means it's harder to be taken down and pinned. Easier to get back up as well.

Islam doesn't stand a chance against khabib in a wrestling match. He is definitely a better striker but Khabib is way better at controlling fights. Khabib wasn't around his corner one time and he almost lost. I am not doubting Islam, I know how good he is but honestly until he beats a top guy without khabib on his corner, he is somewhat unproven.
Islam is great, but Khabib never lost, that's the difference between 1 and 2, you can argue who is fighting harder opponents but, Khabib paved their way go success and for the global prestige of raising top fighters for Dagistan. I think Khabib had sure will and determination and that is great for a fighter. If you've been stopped once then to your opponent, they can hurt you.
