Hidden away in a small town in the north of Portugal, you will find the Sanatorium Presidente Carmona, better known as the Paredes de Coura Sanatorium.
It started as a sanatorium to help railway employees affected by tuberculosis in the early 1900s, and then later converted into a psychiatric hospital after the Revolution of April 25th. Little is known about what happened in the following years but, shortly after, it was permanently shut down and has been left in that state to this day.

Hey hey, dear Danny, This was really a very interesting documentation of that abandoned sanatorium. You did an absolutely great job with your camera and comment. I really love your historical background explanations, which are fascinating to listen to. Amazing, how you inserted original old photos and film scenes in your video. Of course I could also see the traces of vandalism, but still behind those it was so surprising to see forgotton original items, which were used back in the active days of that location with this at the end of its days sad history. What a fate for some of the poor inmates/patients, when it was a facility for mentally ill people just because of the lack of money and proper care, which resulted inevitably in inappropriate treatment for the patients!! - But the view from that location is simply breathtakingly beautiful. Your wonderful drone shots showed that very accurately! Respect, well done, dear Danny!

Very interesting history, this building was first constructed before I was born, this building looked big back in the days, beautiful location up on the mountain , and look over the town, sad to see it got abandoned, thank you for sharing.
