I wish I had a pair of hog ring pliers! My dog threw up on our Jeep's front seat. I pulled the upholstery off the frame - it was attached with hog rings. Man this thing would have been helpful. Love the show Ben!
Your restoration skills are getting better and better Ben. Those pliers turned out great! Hog rings are often used for applications that include automotive seat manufacturing, mattresses, wire cages, plant and pot tagging, fencing and closing and sealing bags and sacks. You might just find a reason to use those pliers yet 😃👍🏼
Nice job Ben. I re upholstered my '74 Ford Maverick using hog rings. My father-in-law grew up on a farm and told me what the rings were used for on the farm (to keep the pig from digging in the dirt). He had an old pair of these in the garage and he let me use them for the upholstery job. By the way, I'm with you about the pin being better but the bolt looks good too. I've never seen a good video on UA-cam about how to pein a pin over. I haven't had much luck trying my hand at it.
Nice job Ben. My son picked up a pair of those over the summer. They had been setting until he decided what to do. So I showed him your video and it gave him some idea's and he is ready to start. Thanks
Hi Ben! Beautiful job... I hate "peening" over rod because it never looks professional. The machines they use at the factory leave a beautiful domed shaped head. I like your fix. Thanks!!!
I like them, especially the domed nut, I think it is quite a good solution too, with the peening over you've did it won't come loose quickly, but your able to take it apart and service it. Very inspirational Ben, thank you!
Nice job Ben. A dremel is a lot of fun to use. Wait till you fall down the rabbit hole on all the accessories. I just bought tiny router bits for mine. Can't wait to try them out.
Love your Channel. Dig your Vibe. Like the music and enjoy the content! I think these pliers are used in uspostery work connecting wire structure to springs. ..Newk from Kentucky connecting w ire Newk
On Thanksgiving Day I am going to put all your videos on auto play so I can hear that music in my ears and just let the day go by! Another very cool job! Looks awesome!
As soon as you took them apart and I saw the inside of the handles, I thought “they’d look great painted red on the inside”. You didn’t disappoint Ben! Good work.
I've never seen a pair of hog nose pliers here in New Hampshire. When early colonists cut down most of the trees they raised sheep. That only lasted for a while and the forests mostly grew back. Now we have urban sprawl in Southern NH. Should have raised pigs.
I don't know enough about NH. Except that it's up there where the fall is pretty. As for the pigs. I think they're great livestock if you can stand the smell.
Looks great Ben! Your skills and knowledge are really coming along. I would also recommend the diamond cut-off discs (the red/burgundy ones) for the dremel. They're more precise than the drum sander, as long as you have the clearance, just make sure you wear eye protection, because they can shatter with too much sideways pressure. Not something you want to have happen while you are looking up close at what you are trying to do. But they've gotten me out of a jam multiple times. If you have a delicate touch with them they can do wonders.
Beautiful job on scary looking tool...the “testicular” reference was exactly what I was thinking when I saw them...please don’t let my Mrs. EVER see those, I might be speaking several octaves higher!
That turned out great! The hog rings are used for all sorts of things, like fencing and joining chicken wire. I have used them to make crab traps. Cheers
Nice job and video Ben. I researched those same pliers a few months ago and what I found out was they were used for Upholstery also. I know I have seen those rings if you tear into some box springs. Anyway nice job and great video. Thanks for sharing.
Yes they are hog ring pliers, oddly enough they are used by hog farmers as well as upholsterers. Nice work, I like your editing style your average video is around ten minutes which fits my attention span nicely. 😎
Yes Ben you can find newer models on the Internet fairly inexpensively but the ones that person sent you appear to be way higher quality because they are older and probably Made InU.S.A. When our metals and fabrication were superior to many other Countries those other ones you see on the Internet are cheap made in China versions ,yes they work but are stamped steel and will bend and twist on you BTW mostly hog rings are used in Upholstery applications like Automotive Interiors fastening the seat material to the metal frames Pig Farmers do put rings in the animals Snouts to discourage them from Rooting in the pens and other areas on a Farm because Pigs can really do a lot of physical damage to a Farmers land without the rings that add pressure to the Snouts when digging that way
They're called hog ring pliers ...but not the one's used to actually put the ring in a hogs nose .. They're used to attach upholstery from the underside with a small ring that resembles the ring in a hogs nose !! Lmao 🤣 🤣 if you try to use them on a hog get ready to have a serious fight on your hands!! The perverbial tiger by the tail !! Lol
Fantastic job they look great thanks for sharing and remember stay safe and make Thanks Ben ☕☕👍👍😷
Thanks Brian 👍

Wow, that sucks, Andrew. If you still need them, let me know and I'll send them. (you still have my email, right?)
WOW THEY TURNED OUT GREAT..👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
GODBLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND EVERYONE. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🕊
Thank you Reynaldo!

Thanks Tom. Yes, I think one would need to heat the pin and use a special tool to install it properly.
Nice job Ben. My son picked up a pair of those over the summer. They had been setting until he decided what to do. So I showed him your video and it gave him some idea's and he is ready to start. Thanks
That is awesome!
we used them to put the metal clips to install car seat covers in the70's
Interesting. Were there rings involved in that process?
I need those to replace my seat covers but can't find them

I just found a vintage pair of these in my moms expedition. Where they came from who knows. But your video explained what they were so thanks
Your mom's been tagging livestock!! Thanks.

Yeah, I've tried that trick Marty uses on his Matchbox cars, but I couldn't get it to work.

Nice job. I always enjoy your videos and the music. Relaxing.
Thank you very much.
Interesting how we all like tools we will never use LOL! Great job Ben!
That is the truth!
Very nice resto Ben. Good relaxed atmosphere to this one.
Thank you John!
Testicular torture device! LOL. Great job.
Thanks Joe!

So the tool is just the gateway drug that gets you buying more and more. Got it. LOL
I used these to install the new interior for the seats in my 66 Mustang. If you try pliers all you’ll do is upset yourself. You really need these
Now all I need is a 66 Mustang! Thanks Bill.
@@mrbenmall 😂
Hog rings are used in automotive upholstery.
Yes, I'm hear that in the comment section. Makes sense.
Nice job Ben. I got one of those and I just threw it in the junk bin. Maybe now I should give it a second look.
John, many commenters are telling me it's also for upholstery. Go for it!
You went Hog wild on those they came out great. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Kevin. Oink oink!
GREAT! Now you have to borrow a hog!
LOL Thanks Bill

Should come in handy on your new Hog Farm.........Dremel's a great tool for getting into the tricky spots.
I would eat all the profit!! Because, well, BACON!

Noted. Thanks for the tip!
Ringer pliers. We use them to install chain link fence.
Wow. So many interesting uses! Thanks Zach!
Great job, Ben! Those hog ring pliers are now elegant enough for working on a Cadillac upholstery.
You bet! Thanks Jim.
Lovely job ben I like the red inside the handle nice touch mate :-)
Thanks 👍
Good video. I wish you did a closeup on the writing inside the handles, or told us what it says inside.
I was going to, but it was unreadable. Thanks!
A huge improvement
Thank you David!
Have a few that I have redone. Great job Ben
Thanks! (do you use them for anything?)
@@mrbenmall no Sir. They sit in my box of restored tools.

Crab traps. Well, that's a new one. I'll add that to the list!
Iooks good Ben thanks 👍
Thank you, Patrick!
That pivot screw was a great idea. I struggle with those pins and never thought of a small screw applied to the belt sander.
Thanks, Rusty Guy!
Beautiful job Ben! I like the blued adjust thumbscrew!
Thanks! 👍
Nice job!
Thank you!
Great restoration Ben. I like how they turned out. You really do good work. 👍
Thanks Rob!
Wow, the outside of the handles came out especially surprisingly great.
Thank you David!
Hi Ben nice job! 👍
Thanks Ernesto!
I like how you repaired the pin, they came out nice. I was hoping you were going to demonstrate putting a ring on a hog!😀. Thanks
PASS. I'm not a farmer, for sure. I visited relatives on their farm and nearly passed out watching some of the stuff they have to do.
WOW WATCH THIS you tube !!!!!! Hog Ringing Sows !!!!!!
thx Ed Loretto Ontario Canada
Not sure I can handle watching it. But thanks Ed!
We used pliers like that on fencing.
Interesting. I've also had some people say it's for upholstery. Thanks Dennis!
