🐾 In this video, we're excited to introduce ourselves, the games we enjoy playing and our new project - Copycat!
🎮 Copycat is a narrative driven-indie game that explores loneliness and belonging. It follows the story of Dawn, a pampered indoor cat, who becomes the target of an elaborate plan when a jealous stray look-alike steals her place in the home.

🌻 Hey! We're Sam and Kostia, a Kiwi and a Ukrainian currently living in sunny Australia. Full-time advertising creatives, first-time game makers with a background in storytelling and design. We started this devlog to share our progress and experiences in April 2021. Our very first indie game project, Copycat, made us feel a little scaredy-cat entering the industry. Our current goal is to make 10 videos on our journey. One day we hope to launch on Steam and the Nintendo Store. Stay tuned. We are developing 'Copycat' while living and working remotely: / remotelings

Ah this looks super cute and it is interesting to play a game as a cat! Looking forward to more updates :)
Thank you! I find it quite exciting to be able to play as a cat in 3rd person mode as well. Having lots of fun building locations to scale and making sure the movement is correct and realistic. Still polishing the jumping part - will make a separate episode on the movement mechanics soon :) Stay tuned ;)

Always nice to see a Ukrainian game developer! For some reason our nationality doesn’t have many game developers.
Which is a bit weird, considering how many talented IT specialists and amazing 3D artists there are. I feel Ukraine has a giant potential to become a big gamedev hub.

Thank you! Agree, it's quite hard to balance that's why we don't have any crazy editing or graphics in our videos - trying to keep it nice and simple, otherwise I'd be spending days editing videos instead of working on the game :)

This sounds pretty interesting. I have plans to make my first horror game. Although I still want to learn a bit more about programming 😂
Thanks for stopping by :) this sounds exciting, go for it! Love a good spook haha. You can always learn as you go, that's what we're doing. Luckily there are tons of tutorials and supportive communities around. Also if coding seems too intimidating, check out Playmaker or Bolt - visual scripting is very versatile nowadays, we're mostly using Bolt and it's been good so far :)
