Volkanovski's confidence is what impresses me the most. You can tell it's 100% genuine and it doesn't have any arrogance to it. This dude really believes he can do this without a camp and he's convinced me it'll probably happen.

Beating Volk twice in 10 months is something that will age very well considering how good volk is. And if Islam finishes him which is unlikely, then this will be one his best wins.
Only way it can be a win-win for everyone is if they put on an absolute brawl of a fight, which I doubt if we’re going off the first fight.

I wasn't a great fan of Volks when he first started MMA but my god he has won me over with his pure grit, determination and massive growth in the sport. He also seems to be a great champ. Good luck!!

Every champ who actually fights 2-3x a year should be given a huge amount of respect IMO. It also keeps the Division exciting / active instead of a champ like Leon who just sits on the belt ( I used to have more respect for Leon but I'm SLOWLY losing it because he isn't defending the belt which holds up the ENTIRE Division) Fighters who work hard to earn their top ranking are Usually the bigger/ biggest draws PPV wise so I never understood why the UFC doesn't require champs to fight a minimum of TWO times a year.

Islam would have been foolish to have not taken the fight considering his opponents short notice preparation, recent elbow surgery, in Islams his own backyard, and after completed full fight card. Islam irrespective of fighter, will still fight the same fight without any major change. I doubt Islams camp would have done the same if roles were reversed.

Usman has a much better chance of winning than Volk. Usman has cardio for days and this is only a 3 rounds fight so he can go all put and Khamzat will not be able to keep the same pace even with a full training camp for him!

But seriously as a dedicated UFC fan from Downunder, New Zealand to be precise it is cool seeing the popularity of MMA/UFC rising so rapidly. Having some UFC bling with Bobby Knuckles, Izzy and Volko reach the lofty heights of UFC World Champion has certainly helped but I think the real deal clincher is what nice guys the City Kick Boxing and the Ozzies in the UFC are. Bam-Bam complimenting the aforementioned trio and Blood Diamond and the Frenchman Kevin, ALL decent people and in public there is no hinting that they are all smiling assassins. The sport is really beginning to take off Downunder and as we have gifted sportsmen all over Australasia, especially we shine in combat sports like rugby and rugby league so basically 'We down for it!' Look for many champions emanating from Downunder in times to come.
A lot of people are over looking just how good a woman and a support staff he has around him to build a strong mind and body. Shout out to his Mrs, family and team. From the cook to the guy who carries his jock strap and boxers. The difference between success and failure is usually due to the people you surround yourself with and the way you treat them. Well not really too much because he’s still so dominant at FTW so he’ll go down as the FTW GOAT but as for as GOAT in general, it would hurt it. But if he wins it, he starts to jump in the conversation.
This “11 days only” is the best way to accept a fight. Giving both Usman an Volk are professional athletes who train the entire year with no time off it’s the perfect everything to win nothing to lose scenario for both of them.
There is no blame in losing and all glory to conquer. Seems like the perfect relaxed mindset when you step into a big fight. No pressure at all!
When he fought Islam the first time he was looking at the clock,I never seen Islam do this before; it shows me Alex has the fighting edge.

If the roles were reversed you’d be crying excuses for Islam. Any fighter that steps in on crazy short notice to challenge an elite fighter in a championship opportunity has a very strong argument to list excuses as to why they might’ve not been 100% prepared 🤷♂️
