I absolutely agree with you. Goodwill receives everything free and has gone crazy with how much they are charging. We now shop at thrift stores or hobby lobby.

I agree. My local thrift stores have increased the prices way up ...to the price if item was brand new.
One thrift store had brand new light bulbs donated to them. I had to tell them the price on their light bulbs were higher than Lowe's Hardware one block away. And they were the exact same brand😮
They did finally lower the price.

I have been in and left empty handed a lot bc I can’t pay $30 for a vase I don’t love and want to redo like the ones brand new for the same price or less lol. And the clothes. Some from old navy I know are 10 dresses they have marked to $10-15 lol no thats what it was brand new 😂😂😂
Yes.... It seems thrift stores have gotten to big for their britches. I'm here in East Tennessee in the Great Smoky Mountain area. Such outrages prices for "actually" donated items. You are right Holly, it's not fun anymore to go thrifting. I hear the same remarks just about from everyone from state to state. Sooner or later they'll overprice themselves right out of business. hi sweetie just want you to know i have tons of the light colored leaves in everything they had now in the garland they are so hard to fluff an make to look full i usded the on mantel had to use 2 of them an lots of rhe same picks an other things like acors check out dollor tree they have good size felt acorn pick 3 to a stem they look expensive you will not be sorry they go so good with the leaves so happy fall can not wait to see your little pumpkin you bring into this world god bless

I thought was the only one who noticed Goodwill prices have increased over the last 6 months. I agree... I'll look at some and think to myself " I can get a brand new one for the same or less at Marshall's or HomeGoods." With that being said, when you make purchases at Goodwill, it does go for a good cause. At least, hopefully!!

I have experienced the same thing with my local thrift stores. However, I find that the ones that are privately run for charity instead of for profit, seem to be keeping their prices lower. Goodwill, Thrift Giant and other large chain stores are marking up more and more. Someone speculated that to find a t-shirt at the thrift store will eventually be as expensive as buying it retail on sale. Whatever. I agree that they should keep their prices low since everything is donated. I am not a reseller, but I imagine that it is getting harder for people to do that and still make as much as they used to.

You are so right about the thrift stores Hollie. No sense in paying more for other people's junk and then having to put more money and time into making it your own when you can go into a Hobby Lobby or Kirkland's and get if for about the same or even less when it's on sale.

Yes, the thrift stores in our area have jacked the prices also! Ridiculous! I used to enjoy thrifting. Not so much anymore. Then you have the smell in Goodwill and they hound you to round up to donate for their mission. I just donated to your mission with my purchase!

Re: Goodwill, I think everyone noticed the huge price increase after the pandemic. And alot of stores are poorly stocked. What gives? It's not like they have shortages, price hikes or inflation affecting them. I guess everyone got raises. 🤷♀️ I haven't returned in a long time after a few attempts. There's nothing there. I can go to several other stores and purchase something new for same price or cheaper. I think they have buyers reselling and cleaning them out.

Hollie Day Bell ….. BLESS HER LOLOL I would have had a fight on my hands if my husband heard me say my Hollie as this one because this Hollie was his QUEEN that’s why I say Queen to her so much! We now have 3 granddaughters but my husband passed away before he got to meet them so now I call the oldest my little Queen (she’s 13 but looks 18! Trust me, and she wins ever pageant she’s in) but Hollie will always be our first Queen and her sister our first Princess🥰😍😍

I need to head to HL for some Fall stems. Our Goodwills are way overpriced compared to what they used to be, even the clothes. And most have gone the route of buying crates of target stuff and still marking it high. To me, it's not the same experience it once used to be. I think prices have gone up for a few reasons. 1. they know resellers are coming in and reselling, so they mark up items they know they can get more for and 2. inflation. It's kind of sad to me, as I feel like its original purpose was to be a place where people could shop who really needed the discounts. My favorite shops are a few hours away in Amish Country. Most are mennonite owned and charity based and still have lots of incredible deals and unique finds.

I don’t buy anything I think is too expensive at the thrift store ? I just pick the stuff that is not 1/2 price at the thrift store ? You just have to be patient you will find what you want for the price you want to pay ?
Goodwill also takes donations and sells them on line that is wrong
