It's always a pleasure when someone throws some love Donaldson's way. Donaldson inspired most of the fantasy writers out there that people are unfortunately paying more attention to. Sometimes you have to return to the source. Tolkien wasn't the only seminal writer out there. People are missing out.
Funny coincidence that you put this video out on the same day that I'm getting a special delivery, a 1983 box set of the original Covenant trilogy, still sealed in the shrink wrap after 40 years. They don't have the nice art on the covers, but I think the reading experience might be improved compared to the smaller paperbacks.
I have been quadriplegic since birth and wanted to visit The Land so badly when I was young. A little hurt loam and I would be a freaking awesome warrior! Okay I still wanna go there. Back in the 2010’s I had to use a mouth stick to turn pages & my dad would go through books and break the spine every few pages so they would stay open for reading. Meaning your book collection is in waaayyy better shape than mine 😅. Now I can read on iPad which is so much better for turning pages but I really miss the smell/ look of tangible books. Great video
I really love how you always spotlight the cover art of your books. My favorites that you have shown us are Storm Bringer and the Black Cauldron. If you ever want to do a filler video I would be ecstatic to see the top 10 fantasy cover art in your collection.
Nice shirt. I saw Styx on the Grand Illusion tour in 1979 at the Checkerdome in St. Louis. Excellent show. As to Donaldson, the writing is brilliant and I couldn't put the books down when I was reading them. But I despise Covenant so much that I've never reread the books.
I have never read a Stephen Donaldson book, but maybe I should try one out. I do love your shirt though! Styx Grand illusion is such a good album! It's actually the first cassette tape I ever bought in 1977😊, and I still have it and listen to it!
Mr Durfee… You are making my TBR list so long that I’m going to have to retire soon to keep up with it. I’ve never read Stephen Donaldson. I suppose I’ll add him to my list though. Great review as always. I’d be lost without your channel
I remember being so amazed at how different the story was compared to more classical fantasy writers. Having a protagonist who wasn’t likeable was a major point of differentiation, no naive farm boy.

Love that someone appreciates his books. I love the Gap Cycle and I also absolutely love the Chronicles of Thomas Convenant.
First two Thomas Covenant trilogies - my all time favorite fantasy books.

Very Impressive Brian. The Lord bless you and your famous channel
The Gap series is his best work yet - set in space there is nothing to externally describe, so it's all in the character's heads. Love it.

This is amazing. I love Stephen Donaldson and it's a shame that he isn't more popular these days
That's amazing👍
Loved Donaldsons space opera series. Brutal books!

Paradise Theater was my first STYX album

Do it. You're going to beat yourself up asking why you didn't read him before.
Recovered The e Tite first trilogy, and its’s just beautiful! Everything.❤
Brian….you didn’t mention this one, but “The Kings Justice” came out in 2015 and contains two novellas. Still available on Amazon. Great stuff.
Nice!😍
There is a second short story collection, “Reave the Just”.
If you havent read the chronicles of thomas covenant you are missing out, great epic story!

I haven’t read his Gap series. Always happy when I find a new series to read.
@@pinkhornet8737 Gap series is excellent. I am two books in.
lol, dropped books...
Amazing he didn't "edit" those out.
