Any ethnicity that was regularly denied the ability to own large amounts of land (therefore had lower rates of rural living vs urban living) and had to find a way to make a living through things others can’t take from you, ie professions you must be educated in. You see it with Jews in Europe, Armenians in the Ottoman Empire, Coptic Christians in Egypt, Zoroastrians in Iran, Parsis in India, and the list goes on. Those diasporas are all now comparatively very urban, very educated and wealthier than their neighbors.
