I have recently become a Monster High fan and have had to deal with this problem on a few of my dolls. It is great to be able to share suggestions and find solutions to the problem, I can't understand at all how this was allowed to persist by Mattel. I keep thinking of all the kids happily buying new Monsters off the shelves only to find the sticky glue mess. It must have been extremely disappointing for them. Mattel really let a lot of kids down.
I don’t remember ever having a glue seepage problem with my dolls when I was a kid. So don’t know what changed in the manufacturing process to cause this. I also have this video in which I show a successful alternative to Goo Gone: ua-cam.com/video/6wr0-J4ZAeY/v-deo.html
I put baby powder in the roots and sometimes I even take out the head and put it inside of the head, i spread baby powder in a plate or tray and i spread the hair in it and I leave the doll for about 1 or 2 days, then i rinse the hair and I put the hair again for 1 or 2 days in dish washing liquid. I finally rinse her hair and I let it dry. For me it works in every hair color even black.
You did everything right, just in the wrong order. First you should generously rub in baby powder or corn starch on the scalp of hair when it’s dry, not wet, let it stay in for a while, then brush it through. Check it the next day. If still sticky, repeat and let baby powder stay in longer. (It also might make end of the hair too dry.) but If that worked, go to Step 4. If the baby powder didn’t work then do Step 2. Go ahead and use the goo gone. Step 3. Use the dawn to wash out the goo gone. Step 4. Soak the hair in the conditioner (but mainly on the lower part of the hair,) then rinse. Brush, or comb out, and let dry. All that should work. However, keep in mind that you may continue to have glue seepage. The best option is prepping the doll head for rerooting, or making a wig. That way the glue seepage problem is permanently fixed.
I used apple cider vinegar and let it sit for about 12 hours and then I washed it out, then let the hair dry in front of a powerful fan! It works like magic
I also am very reluctant to use Goo Gone - although it works - just lots of chemicals - I have a Draculaura whose hair was verrrrry greasy and nothing was working!! So I soaked her hair in rubbing alcohol for a half hour - washed with dawn dish soap and finished with a dunk in very diluted Downey fabric softener and it worked really well!!
Tara Hopson I should try that. I’m currently looking for an alternative to goo gone too. I saw a UA-cam video recently where they used a product from another country that contained orange oil. I want to investigate that.
HoneyBeeHappy Me I actually have a Rochelle Goyle soaking in Goo Gone right now but she is the worst I've seen- her whole head of hair was stuck together - bought her of ebay with Garrott du Roque - they were very played with!! But the alcohol does work for moderate glue stickyness- LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS SUPER HELPFUL 😊
Okay, I have some kind of solution to deal with leaked glue in the doll's hair. Apply some plant oil and wash doll's hair with dish washing liquid, repeat it like 2 or 3 times. Then apply a lot of powder and brush hair. Try to put powder on the smallest strands of hair you can do. And brush hair A LOT. Leave the doll for 30 min to 1 hour. Then wash hair with the shampoo using just a little bit warm water. Let it dry. If doll's hair is still full of glue and sticky, so apply a bit of powder on the doll's hair. Brush the hair a lot and then just blow away powder from hair (some of it will stay, but it's okay), you can use hair dryer but with cold air mode. The end. It absolutely helped me to fix my Scarah Screams doll's hair.
I've used the oil we usually use after cosmetic waxing (to remove remaining wax), and seems the glue is gone, but now i cant get rid of the oil residue, because is sooo strong. At least is not sticky anymore. I'll keep trying to wash it again & again..
These dolls are so expensive, they should be perfect, but they come with a lot of problems! Descendents dolls never had such issues, nor Equestria girls..
I've tried about 8 different products or more. We don't have goo gone here so I'm desperate for a home method. I got rid of the sticky feeling with baking powder and coconut oil but now the hair is all in ugly sections.
Do a great job on this stuff I mean like how do you even do are you trained but I can't even do this like I'm trying to find Rapunzel doll using fabric softener and it just didn't even work like I couldn't even get it because it was so frizzy and when I had gotten it there were two pieces cut off me fun so basically so it wouldn't work because of the hair in the front was cut off in two pieces so yeah but her hair was really frizzy and you try doing something about it and it wouldn't work but I'm here for you all the way even if the video was just unboxing I'm still going to be here for you cuz you are so so so so so so so so so and I am glad that's you making these videos so so so so so 30 shows the latest episode of 30 more songs later I just want you to know I'm here for you and yeah that's my comment it might be really long because like I have a lot to say cuz you're amazing at this stuff but yeah
Honey be happy me and glad you like my comment I tried to be as nice to people as I can but when they get but when they get really on my nerves that's what really bugs me you you don't do that cuz you are amazing I'm glad you like my comment the last person named Lucy I made a comment to so my phone is not picking up a word I say today so if this sounds weird I'm sorry it's my phone doing this but anyway the last person I talked to need Lizzie named Lizzie I said she couldn't comprehend anything I was typing so I told her to just forget it you always understand what I'm ready and this is my comment you're amazing

I need to try that next time!

Thanks for the suggestion

Did it smell after?

soaking the dolls head in rubbing alcohol might remove her face paint so be careful guys
I found an alternative to goo gone : ua-cam.com/video/6wr0-J4ZAeY/v-deo.html

Thank You for this video. Boy. Seems like a lot of ways to work on dolls. And. Your nails look very nice in the video too!
Thanks!!
I used chalk and it worked pretty well
You can try babyoil too. Oil make glue gone.

Your content is amazing and really high-quality. Will support you as much as I can. Good luck and well done!
Thanks!
Get some lestoil degreaser! It gets it all out! Wd-40 works pretty good too! Works on all mine!
ThankYou!
I recommend just baby powder
I saw someone using wood polish spray like Mr sheen on it to remove glue from MH doll and then rinsed off with dish soap
These dolls are so expensive, they should be perfect, but they come with a lot of problems! Descendents dolls never had such issues, nor Equestria girls..
Random question, what do you use for editing your videos???
I film everything on my iPhone and edit with iMovie.
HoneyBeeHappy Me oh okay thank you ☺
Check out A Thousand Splendid Dolls. Their regimen works as well as anything else I have found.
huh, I saw that goo-gone worked and so I went straight to that....
It definitely works the best.
I've tried about 8 different products or more. We don't have goo gone here so I'm desperate for a home method. I got rid of the sticky feeling with baking powder and coconut oil but now the hair is all in ugly sections.
I came up with something to replace goo gone in this video: ua-cam.com/video/6wr0-J4ZAeY/v-deo.html
Girl when you put the baby powder in don't wash it out with warm hair then it will make the glue leak more!
That was a viewer suggestion. 😆

Cool
Cool video 😎👌🏻
Ever after high Girl Thanks

I read your reply and you are welcome
After warm I ment to say water
Fabric softener doesn’t do anything.
A thousand splendid dolls uses Oxy Clean 2 teaspoons ,boiling water
Great tip!
I was about to recommend this as well, watch her video on it, it works wonders
Warm water is going to make it worse..
If I use hot water, it definitely makes it worse. Warm or cold water doesn't seem to make a difference when I try it.
HoneyBeeHappy Me Oh okey ! ^^
Use Oxiclean!!!
I did in this video: ua-cam.com/video/6wr0-J4ZAeY/v-deo.html
