  • Summer walking tour in Eyrarbakki, an old fishing village in Iceland.
    For centuries, the harbour at Eyrarbakki was the main port in the south of the country, and Eyrarbakki was the trading centre for the whole of the southern region extending from Selvogur in the west to Lómagnúpur in the east. By about 1925, however, Eyrarbakki lost its importance as a trading centre.

    8:25 probably the smallest bookstore between Rauða Húsið (excellent restaurant) and Littla-Hraun, but very good idea :)

      Hi Selma and thank you. For this one it was pretty early, around 9am. It's á very small town and people were working, kids at school. Some of them out on vacation.

    The mini library is so cute, so how does it work? Do they just grab and bring it back? Oh and I love that it looks neat.

    • @IcelandHotSpots
      @IcelandHotSpots  2 роки тому

      Haha I love used books and mini libraries like these. You grab a book but leave on of your own behind.

    I like the mini library and the greenhouse 😍 It's a different house architecture vs the previous ones I've seen on your walks. Seems like a nice day for a walk no one is outside 😀 Is it cold?

    • @IcelandHotSpots
      @IcelandHotSpots  3 роки тому +1

      Yes I love reading and always like browsing through used secondhand books. This summer has been cold! Only 4 degrees celcius yesterday.

      @@IcelandHotSpots oh what books would you recommend? I haven't been reading in quite a while.. Gosh 4 degrees I would die. I went to Japan and took a walk in 9 degrees 😳 I woke up the next day with a fever 🤒😫. How can I survive my euro trip 😆😆😆

    • @IcelandHotSpots
      @IcelandHotSpots  3 роки тому

      You've had practise now, you'll survive. Big question I guess it depends on your taste. I'm currently fascinated by bitcoin books which is probably not for everyone. I'm also reading the Martian which is fun. Recently I've been reading Joe Abercrombie, Kurt Vonnegut and Micheal Crichton. But these are just to name a few. Do you have any favorites?

    • @dfgolez5821
      @dfgolez5821 3 роки тому +1

      @@IcelandHotSpots I've read Michael Crichton. I'm into Robert Ludlum, Patricia Cornwell types of books and maybe a couple of romance novels 😂 I have never read a Kurt Vonnegut. I will try to find his books. Thanks!

      Awesome. Sounds like you like thrillers and mystery. There is a book by Yrsa, an icelandic author, set in Iceland. It's a mix of supernatural and crime thriller. It's called I Remember You. You might like it if you have spare time sometime.

    What is the background noise (like a machine) that I keep hearing while watching some of your videos? Can you throw some light on that, please? And I love watching your videos. Planning for an Iceland trip once this COVID thing gets under control.

    • @IcelandHotSpots
      @IcelandHotSpots  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Riju. I hope your eventual trip will be great. That noise is coming from the gimbal and I've had trouble setting up an external microphone to eliminate it. I'll get there eventually I hope. Thanks for the reminder and I hope it doesn't distract you too much.

    • @findrij
      @findrij 3 роки тому +1

      @@IcelandHotSpots Thank you for your reply. No, that noise does not bother me at all. The best thing about your videos is the raw nature that you showcase without the use of any artificial colours (thrown in the video through post-production/editing). You are doing an excellent job. Keep it up!. You are lucky that you live there. I would also like to address everyone whoever is reading these comment please comment and like these videos which will help this channel grow.
