    I see you're in the Yukon so that explains the softwood. What does a cord of that go for in your area?

    • @WayNorthEnterprises
      @WayNorthEnterprises  4 роки тому +2

      Thank you for the comment, this would have been last years price but I believe it was $260 a cord (in Canadian funds, which at current exchange rate would be about 195 US). Thanks

      We use the wood to heat the house in a Delta RFS2 wood furnace, it can take up to 24" lengths...

      It does take up a bit of space, not so much once we have it stacked along the fence.

      Thank you for watching and for the comment; yes that is how they dump the wood from the trailer; we spent many days afterwards stacking the wood along the fence.

    How much do you think all that weighed in that trailer

    Half the wood needs to be re-split.. that's B.S.

    • @WayNorthEnterprises
      @WayNorthEnterprises  3 роки тому +3

      Thank you for watching and for the comment; this that is how we order our wood. We do not spilt or re-split the wood, we have a wood furnace that can take up to 24" to heat the house during winter. It works great when you have temp of -40C for weeks. We have no need to have it any smaller size.

      Thank you for the comment, the Yukon mostly has lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta), black spruce, white spruce, and some birch. You are correct it is pine for firewood...

      Thanks for the comment, and I appreciate your view on this to make sure the customer is not getting shorted.
      A proper legal cord of stacked wood in the Yukon (and in most areas of Canada) is 4'x4'x8' to = 128 cubic feet.
      We order 2 seasons worth (6 cords) as this is our main source of heating the house.... and we burn about 3 cords a year. Takes a bit of time but we stack it our selves, measure it out and calculate the numbers, so we know the mount was correct. Thanks for checking, really we do appreciate it.

    Most of the guys around here sell wood by the loader bucket, if people want a cord they ask, about how many buckets makes a cord? One thing is for sure, when you get done working this shit seven ways from sunday out of the woods into a split pile the last thing you want to do is stack a damn cord in a truck just to dump it back out onto the ground. We sell it by the bucket, if you don't like that then GTFO of our lot and go drag it out of the woods yourself.

    • @WayNorthEnterprises
      @WayNorthEnterprises  3 роки тому +1

      Yes going out yourself with a truck or trailer, making sure your saw is sharp and can work all day, get permit or go to approved cut lot, cutting down the tree's and delimbing them, then cutting to 8 or 12' lengths, take them home and cut them to 18 - 22" stove length and then split them; then stack it all in a safe location in the yard.... YES years ago we have done that before... it is very hard but good work.
      Over the last few seasons we now support several local wood businesses (I am sure they load the trailer and truck with a skid steer or a front end loader); but we still stack our wood to check each time to make sure we receive what we paid for.
