  • As Ukraine continues its counter-offensive, more than a dozen Challenger 2 tanks, which the UK donated to Kyiv, are waiting to play their part.
Instructors from the Royal Tank Regiment oversaw the training of Ukrainian tank crews - teaching the soldiers who would soon be fighting for real on the frontline.
At Lulworth Camp in southwest England, scores of Ukrainian soldiers learned how to operate the Challenger 2s.

Must be tough for the UK instructors to realize some of their pupils will lose their lives in battle

Brings tears because this is real war with no option to lose and both the Ukrainians and the instructors know it. To Paraphrase the song Hotel California - 'We haven't seen that spirit here since 1945.' I was 3 at time but still have images of the men coming home for that war. Godspeed Ukraine.

How can you not learn fast when you know that after the training, you're going directly to combat and your survival depends on what you have learned from it?

Western armour is not invincible, but it's considerably better than Russian armour. This is war, it's a bit like most games, you may loose a few battles, it doesn't mean you wont win the war, the more battles you win, the more your chances of winning increase, as long as you have logistics and manufacturing support, which is why the West should never count the cost of others fighting their wars.

Great to see berets being worn correctly for a change! 😎

Very incomplete. Would have liked to hear it from the Ukrainian soldiers point of view. What did they think of the Challenger? How was the training? etc.

When fighting for your country's very existence, you become motivated no matter what. Goodluck and God bless to Ukraine in their fight for survival.

    Thank You so much

UK broke the ice in many respects on equipment transfers and training for Ukrainians. Those Challenger tanks paved the way for Leopards and Abrams to come.

    Thanks, Blighty! ❤

The British soldiers training the Ukrainians are fantastic, but the award for bravery surely goes to the guys of the AA and RAC who stand ready to be called out if any vehicle breaks down.

  • @const2499

Any vehicle can be taken out of function. But the armor did almost always its job and protects our guys and ukrainian soldiers and citizens

Proud to have served in the best Regiment ever, Fear Naught 😎

    Great work guys 🇬🇧

  • @FairladyS130

It's interesting that Ukraine has allocated the Challengers to an elite break through unit being held in reserve for when their moment arrives.

Through Mud & Blood to the Green Fields Beyond!!

God, this beast is stupidly highly protected. Imagine a war-ready tank gets slower because it's additionally up-armoured. With this package, it gets into record-breaking weight for currently used MBTs.
