Neither had I. I came across a video of Wirtual and quite enjoyed it. On a side note, I wanted to play the game, but don’t have anything with the horsepower to run it. Then I found out Nadeo made a version for Wii in 2011. I happen to have a Wii U. Found a copy, and have been having a blast. Of course, the online server is long gone, so I’ll never be able to unlock everything, but there’s still endless entertainment possibilities. So, thanks Wirtual!
The old physics feel just like when you were playing with a toy car as a kid. The drifts are stupidly long, complete with the noises but when you just decide to drive full grip its absurd.
I think the most interesting thing is that the car just feels a LOT slower because of not having to drift or anything to make most turns work (Except for slow turns, which almost never work). It feels floaty and un-impressive. The physics they went with are UNDENIABLY better because these physics feel like they would be in an arcade game you pay a quarter a level and eventually go "this is shit!"h
E02 would have been a GIGANTIC opportunity, as you probably wouldn't have to drift most of the turns and could just zoom through them. Bummed that you didn't try and show that one.
@@Vitosi4ek1 All of the tracks in this game were made with the current physics in mind. These physics are from the alpha of ESWC which had a totally different campaign.
I remember playing the original trackmania as a teenager in 2003 and creating maps on the snow one with the trucks, what a game, also trackmania sunrise was AWESOME
Some people call this one of the Original physics, but I almost get Sunrise physics vibes from this, would be interesting to boot up Original, Sunrise and this and compare to find it!
I love how you always push for the fastest goal. When you get silver you go for gold, when you get gold you go for AT, and when you get AT you go for WR 😂
NGL, this kind of control reminds me of lagoon physics where the car sharply turns at the slightest of touch, which allowed it to basically run roller coaster tracks.
The other thing about physics that early on in a game is that they're probably just a place holder for testing other things. I highly doubt they had any plan to leave these in
If you have ever tried playing all maps backwards, the turning radius feels like that. Especially on C08 where you can beat silver medal only driving backwards.
Same, kinda. I remember reading a review in a magazine and I'm pretty sure I had a demo from a magazine's CD or DVD. And I remember which store I bought the boxed version of TM:S at. I was 13 or 14, I'm pretty sure we hadn't switched from 56k-ish modem to DSL, and I signed up on the german Deepsilver forum later, first time signing up for anything on the internet ever. That's where I created my username RedFlames because 13 year old me thought that it was very cool. :)
I don't know if this is true, but apparently the Bay Car (Which is the car the Stadium Car's physics is based on) was built up from the (Trackmania Original 2004, not the 2003) Desert Car
You're turning into the LobosJr of TM and I'm totally here for it. Now you need to play a campaign with 300% animations or only controlling it with a banana.
Damn, Wirtual. You just made me 15 again. I have to disagree with you - this looks completely normal and fine and perfect. I just wish my dial-up internet could have held on for me to finish an online race.
For even more accuracy Wirt or someone should do the TMN Race, or even better, port the raw TMN ESWC campaign tracks into TMU and see how much better the car does
I think Nadeo won't even consider adding that in game at all based on how they're trying to manage (poorly but it's my personal opinion) the game. The community could if someone is motivated enough by it; not sure though since probably not possible with openplanet and modifying physics is probably hard.
All of the TM united forever tracks were made for the current car physics. These physics are from the alpha/beta of ESWC which had its own entirely different campaign and came well before united.
other than the hitting physics, the only thing seemingly they changed is the suspension. it's WAAAAY more wobbly, soft and bouncy. that's why the car flies way farther in jumps and why it turns insanely when going fast.
Did Wirtual ever archive the VODs where he played the old Trackmania games? I've watched them all until Trackmania DS but the rest of them aren't on Twitch anymore.
17:47 how did the nagle of that jump work at all? You can hear wirtual click something and make an intense face, but no inputs are happening. Now the car starts to turn and he holds opposite direction once the angle is already set in the air. How did this happen? Is it an input solver of some sort that he triggered on the fly to drive for him for a sec, like a LUA script? Or how else would that happen with no inputs present? And that sound?
I was in that alpha test, many words were had with Hyliss over those physics.
o7
where build
How accurate is this to the real alpha?

@@slipangle3027 thats what I’m tryna know, these trackmaniacs are so cracked at what they do tho I’m sure they did an excellent job recreating it

That is most definitely your own fault

How was it living under a rock? How much is rent down there?
This looks a lot like the truck/snow physics from OG TrackMania.
I agree. It looks like SnowCar physics on the StadiumCar.
The A08 almost feels like SportsCar (Island), though acceleration is probably much lower
more like modified baycar physics tbh
I remember about this from TMturbo on DS
Snow car balance was way more light though
tm2020 wood physics:
As some others pointed it out, it seems close to Alpine physics in Trackmania Original
Definitely reminds me of the original trackmania games where there were three different types of physics.... two cars one truck.

i remember watching that replay on TMN ESWC and kid me was always like "how do i get my car to turn like that???"
kinda looks like the end of a06 at 7:07 was built with these physics in mind: you never get it this smooth in the real game...
Which is especially strange because A06 is one of the maps that was apparently completely re-made pretty late in development.
@@Vitosi4ek1 All of the tracks in this game were made with the current physics in mind. These physics are from the alpha of ESWC which had a totally different campaign.

im so glad that atleast 1 wirtual viewer knows about trackmania games other than tmnf and 2020.
damn, the turn radius of that car is insane
That's the physics in the original Trackmania, you could do WEIRD turns back then XD
Are you talking about the Bay environment?
Wirtual: "can we agree that silver is good"
Wirtual 1 minute later: "ok so that's world record"
Some people call this one of the Original physics, but I almost get Sunrise physics vibes from this, would be interesting to boot up Original, Sunrise and this and compare to find it!
Wirtual, can u have C01 WR?
no, I have the C01 WR at home

Hehe funny number
Well, the difference between AT and WR is *slightly* big
It's always the drifting that puts the official physics behind.

yikes

I can imagine a 1st april where they sneakily replace the physics by the old ones without telling anybody lol
IMO it doesnt not only looks like the Snowtrucks from OG Trackmania, but also a lot like the SUVs from TM Sunrise
6:41 is hilarious
6:07 I love how the subtitles say cursed even before wirtual says it
I remember that the first game i ever bought was TM Sunrise. Loved it.

Just downloaded Trackmania on xbox. You have inspired me.
That car handling reminds me of Crazy Taxi with how arcade-y it is.
I played a little bit of the first ones, like Sunrise and those physics looks a little like that imo. It had a lot more turning capabilities iirc.
i have a feeling these physics were similar to the SUV in Trackmania Sunrise. havent played it since i was a kid but its way too similar
road/asphalt: mini wood
dirt: mini mini wet wood
edit: mix in a bit of snow car and rally car as well
Reminds me of TM Sunrise and earlier. Man sunrise is so nostalgic, I still have it installed.
you have to wonder what the author, gold, silver and bronze times would be if the game had these physics rather than the current physics
Love these TMNF related videos.
lag flere please
make a Tas on these physics, it would be so cool.
looks like the jeep physics from the original trackmania
I can see now that the only way we can get Wirt to play TM United is to modify Stadium Physics to specific regions
These physics kinda remind me of Snow physics, very nostalgic indeed
Wirtual prepping for that Trackmania Original gameplay I see
This is like if thr car had ground effect but after tests it got banned.
Those high speed turns are insane.
Elensar that A06 "WEee" bit was fire 🔥🔥

100% it's the Nadeo sailboat physics
The physics look more like you are playing burnout 3 takedown than trackmania

Stadium car with old snow car curve behaviour lmao

They should add a new surface to TM2020 with these physics (the noslide grip part of it anyways).

Stadium but it’s actually just high-speed Bay

I´ve started to play back in the eswc, and those are good memories...
this is the stadium physics on wood
I wonder what it would look like if you took a replay with these physics and got the game to recreate the inputs on the current physics model.
Remember the mobile Track Racing Online ripoff? Honestly, this one's almost there.
Good job finding the password to your main channel! Good luck reviving it LOL
considering some of the tracks seem easier with this old control physics, makes me wonder if some of the tracks were made before the physics change
