- I had forgotten where this video was, but finally found it!! Here is part 1 of 2 of a camera tour of my beautiful 1988 Olds Toronado! This car replaced my 1986 Caddie Fleetwood that had too many problems!!! I replaced this Toronado in 2005 with an '88 Pontiac Bonneville, when I realized that a 4-door car is more practical than a 2-door. This video was shot with my Canon A-1 Digital hi-8 camcorder.

4:41 I love that chime!
crazy seeing these cars this clean…
Gorgeous. Years ahead of its time.
When this video was made, I owned a 1985 Oldsmobile delta 88 royal. Oldsmobiles are fantastic.
I had a black with grey leather Trofeo. What a great car. Drove it for 2 years 70K to 98K and was excellent and comfortable. No one had one and cars generally rarely had controls on the wheel at the time. Paid $8700, sold it for $9800 25 thousand mile later..
Very nice car! I never thought all these features were already available back in the 80s! The European cars seem to be a lot more basic.
I had a dark blue one. Same year. Was really cool to hear that chime again from the dashboard. I loved that car and all the buttons. 😂
Yeah, the chime kinda reminds me of that old school "emergency broadcast system" tone.
46,503.4 Miles: The 88 Olds Toronado In Apr. '93.
Tons. The aluminum block engine leaked oil into the engine and it was shot. Lots of small problems too. The car was a headache, I was glad to get rid of it.
videoholicreturns My parents purchased one in 1988. A buyer was going to purchase it straight off the lot with mods and backed out when it was finished. Dad happened to be at the right place at the right time and overheard managers havia private meltdown. They drove it till the late 90's. I hammered that car when I learned to drive, my older siblings did when they had the chance. Aside from me blowing the PCV valve off dragging it hard we never had any issues. My only real complaint would've been it could've stopped better and the paint didn't hold up well for the price. Typical issue with EPA compliant paints. It's too bad yours had issues because my family's was a real kick to drive. I actually wound up with it for a while. I'd love to have another for our girls to enjoy. I'd almost gamble that was the last real good Olds. The Aurora they purchased used afterwards in 96 looked like the best. The scam they got mixed up in on the deal was so bad we'd never known without owning another. The 90's were cut throat times for GM dealerships and used cars. You never knew what you were bringing home. Didn't matter if they provided a history or not.
They actually traded a 1986 Fleetwood they loved for it. We'd been rear-ended in it and dad decided not to keep it when it came home from the body shop.
oh it was aluninum block? ive always heard the ones made of alunimum had problems.
I have this exact car, same blue interior, same sunroof. Mine has 150,000 miles on it and was garage kept. Radio and A/C are the only things not working. Back seats have never been sat in.
15 mpg? Oy, that doesn't seem right. I got 23 last tank with my Crown Vic. Done some romping around I presume?
most 86-88 toronado's are no more. the chime sounds scary though.
