Thank you Richard! Saved my day and router! I finished setting up two routers as per your 2017 video on how to extend my network with LAN wired process. I bricked my TP-Link C7 4 times and was able to unbrick it each time using this TFTP process. Great Save! Am now using the LAN wired extension setup but without DD-WRT firmware upgrade. After the 4 brickings and unbrickings I decided to try without DD-WRT and was able to configure the extension fine. Been up for over a week now with no problems! By the way, when I was getting the DD-WRT firmware for my TP Link router it specifically said there was no way to recover back to OEM firmware if I bricked my DD-WRT upgraded router. That's not true. AS I mentioned I un-bricked mine 4 times very easily. Thanks again.

Hi, Richard: Thank you for the clear and concise instruction video. I have a TP-Link Archer C20 V4 that got into the flashing LEDs mode, just like what you show in the video, after a recent F/W reload. I followed your procedure as exactly as I could. Everything seemed to work according to what you said. After the F/W got loaded, one LED (power) stays on and another on the far end flashed quickly just like in your video. After awhile, however, the LEDs went back to the original way of flashing (with the far right one toggling between green and amber). Below is the Log View of my session. As an aside, I've had an LTE modem/router fried when I connected my TPLink Archer 1800 to it's lan port. I had a MOFI 5500 get it's Cmos knocked silly and it took me quite a while to straighten it out with another one of the same model 1800. Took me a few hours but now it's back up and running. I can't bring myself to plug either of these 1800's into anything else. In my experience, TP LInk makes excellent equipment, especially for the home market but I think I'm going with a low end ASUS now. It was quite a hassle for a $80 router.
I have never had a issue like that with a TP-Link router. Mind you I use DD-WRT third party firmware on all my routers too. But the stock TP-Link firmware has not done it either. Again I'm not using a and Archer 1800 or LTE modem so it might be something specific to the 1800 and the LTE modem. I have blown LAN ports with static discharges too (My fault for not grounding myself, expensive lesson). But I doubt that was the cause here. I may buy an AX1800 just to have a look at it but I'm hestitant to do so because it's not compatible with the DD-WRT firmware. Thank you so much for watching, commenting and the valuable feedback. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
This video helped me restore my TP-Link C7 AC1750 V5 to its default OEM fimrware since I upgraded it to DDWRT fimrware. There was no webrevert file available for my router so performing TFTPD helped me go back to original firmware.
Thank you! Your video is great and solved my problem. The only comment is I´ve to disable the windows firewall, after that, everything worked fine!!! Congratulations

Very useful and detailed video. I don't know if this process will work for my Netgear router but at least I know the correct steps to take compared to other videos and articles I have came across.
Netgear has a similar repair. I made a video on an older netgear recovery here: ua-cam.com/video/0K8sVuCrPt4/v-deo.html Check the Netgear site for the procedure pertaining to your particular model as there may be differences between models. Works amazing!! I had one issue with my Archer C6 V2. None of the firmwares availables in the website worked for my router. What I did was to go throught the forums with different firmwares for this router and try several times until I got the version that my router needed! I needed an older version of the firmware which was not officially available anymore. So if this happens with your router try that!

Great info, thanks for your effort and research into this issue. I currently have an older Lynksys E2500 N600, 300 on both bands, router and I think I need to get a newer one due to having to reboot it many times recently. From this video I may look into TP-Link models in the AC levels. Thanks, any comments or recommendations would be appreciated. FYI: I do not game.
You are most welcome. I have a TP-Link AC1900 Smart Wireless Router (Archer C9 V1) speeds up to 1.9GBPS (600+1300 Mbps) Dual Channel plus it has a USB3 and a USB2 port for external network drives! It is by far the BEST router I have owned. Here it is at Amazon: amzn.to/2UIJatT or eBay: ebay.to/2WU7aYl The version 1 through 4 are supported by the third party firmware DD-WRT but the V5 is not yet supported. It's a crap shoot what you will get from Amazon as far as version number goes but the eBay link I gave you promises a V3. If you are not going to use DD-WRT then it does not matter which version you get as I am sure they will all be stellar performers with the stock TP-Link firmware. BTW they do sell them refurbished as well for further discount. Thank you so much for watching, commenting and the kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀

Make sure you have plugged the ethernet cable into one of the LAN ports on the router and that you have configured the ethernet connection settings on your computer correctly. If all that is exactly as I show in the video the only other thing that could cause it is a firewall (windows has one built in) Google how to turn it off and try again. Another suggestion is uninstall the TFTP program and reinstall it at which point the firewall should ask you if you want to let the program access the network. See this video where I show it asking the question here: ua-cam.com/video/FKZD_2V1sMc/v-deo.html Thank you so much for commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀

Thank you so much for commenting and the very kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀

Thank you so much for watching, commenting, the very valuable feedback and the very kind words. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀

Hi Richard! You are a lifesaver. Thank you so much!!!

Hi Richard, I am following the way you explained but the TFTP log viewer does not shows anything.. Can you please help me
Make sure you have plugged the ethernet cable into one of the LAN ports on the router and that you have configured the ethernet connection settings on your computer correctly.

Hi Richard - I bricked my Archer C8 and replaced with Netgear. I have tried to follow your instructions to save the C8 but cannot get anything in the log file. I must be missing something. Downloaded all files, plugged C8 into desktop, changed address , reset, powered on but zero in log file to find file name. Help!

Hello Richard, thank you for tutorial vid! I have a 940N v1.3 router without power button (older white box). How can i step into recovery mode?
I have a TP-Link Archer C5 v4 and nothing shows up on the log when I do the reset-hold-and-power-on part. Can you help?
Check your connections to the motherboard (soldering and correct connections) TX to TR etc. Thank you.
@@richardlloydusa Sorry Richard but I'm sort of confused here because TFTP doesn't require soldering... At least I'm not aware of it and I didn't need any soldering when I used TFTP recovery. ?
Hi, Just to say thank you very much Has saved my Router.....Cheers
