I prefer the Avanza and Veloz than the Xpander and Xpander Cross because the Avanza and Veloz are CVT, while the Xpander and Xpander Cross are only 4-speed Automatic. CVTs are better than Automatics on Petrol-Feed vehicles because of it's fuel efficiency.
Because Mitsubishi doesn't need to equip it with a CVT just to become fuel efficient as you can easily achieve 17-18 km/l already on real-world driving conditions(based on exp) and 20km/l once the ideal conditions are met. It boils down on the maintenance costs on why we didn't receive the new CVT tranny of the Indonesian model, given how budget conscious the typical subcompact MPV buyers are especially on servicing costs. Plus, conventional automatics can easily deliver more torque on the low-rpm range vs CVT's and given pano mangbash ang mga Pinoy pagdating sa hatak ng kotse, hence the decision to still keep the electronically-controlled 4-speed auto with the local model. Sticking with the transmission that surprised many of the buyers in this segment on how the Xpander can really pull than how majority of the people expected it to (poorly)perform. No offense with Toyota's Avanza and Veloz tho as those are really a huge step up from the previous gen, but there's a good reason why the Xpander has already been the people's fave since it was launched(and why many of the Avanza's new traits simply can remind you of the Xpander, as many people say). At the end of the day, personal preference lang din yan. Do you want a transmission that's smooth as silk or something that's perfectly balanced with smoothness and immediate torque?

I bet you haven't drive one yet, Iba and hatak ni Xpander, when you step on the gas pedal it will really give you the torque that you need (Almost walang lag). mas lalo na pag mag overtake ka. Unlike CVT, which I tried to many other cars, may rubber band effect, na kaylangan mong bumwelo muna para achieve mo young desired speed.
