One of the more unsetteling aspects of Genestealers is that they were first encounted long befor the hive fleets arived, having been on the moons of Ymgarl for longer than Imperial records existed, and acting as the opponets for on of the first 40K games, Space Hulk.
They did manage to infest at least one entire Space Marine chapter. The Scythes of the Emperor, an Ultramarine successor chapter, was overrun by Genestealers. They still exist but all the original marines are dead. Only newly introduced primaris marines make up the chapter now.
I think Genestealer Cults has the most potential for great story. Imagine a Lovecraftian conspiracy thriller with any possible setting that can be one of imperial worlds.
I love the hp lovecraft narrations and 40k videos you do and it’d be cool if you ever returned to the mythology or dungeons and dragons videos as well.
Something I really like about your channel is that you never point out video's you've previously made or pointing people to them, at least not too often. Like here, instead of telling people to watch your previous video where you go on the basics of the Tyranids you briefly summarize it here. It helps keep the flow and immersion of the video and I really appreciate that, plus it's friendly to people that may be new to the channel! Keep up the good work!
You see what happens when you take a small break? It's taken 11 days for UA-cam to put this in my feed despite me watching just about every TES video ever dropped and this video has trash view numbers so yoh know it's doing that to everyone. I'm sorry that YT is like this mang, it's good to have you back.
My favourite army. In a game where the most common generic infantry wears ritually maintained laser-proof future space armor and wields basically an SMG that fires artillery shells, these guys drive converted mining equipment into battle wielding shotguns and construction tools. Everyone talks up the IG/AM as this great underdog army, but these guys are the real deal.
I like this one. Thanks, Warhammer 40K and The Exploring Series. I can't think of a specific comment about this video, but I appreciate it all the same. I want to listen to this sometime again in the near future to determine whether or not the narrator implies whether the Genesteelers are really evil with a full conscience.
Personal theory. Some old ones escaped the milkyway before the enslaver/psyknoia mega invasions at the close of the war in heaven. And nids have come to quiet the warp again
I like to think that the reason orks are so resistant to Gene-stealer outbreaks is that the hybrid(s) end up being too calm and Not-Prone-To-Violence cause that's what usually works for most other species but with the orks it just ends up getting the hybrid beaten to death by the other orks for being an unorky loser who isn't green.
18:21 oh yeah and they disconnect you right has you jump into the amino acid pits, apparently. Of course that’s adeptus ridiculous so I have no idea if it’s true
Nids don't suffer perils of the warp. There's nothing to gain from 'disconnecting' someone from hive or brood mind. When ravener swarms return to the pits, they aren't disconnected, so why would their human cults be? Inquisition propaganda indeed.
It is so nice hearing a good human narrating voice doing 40K lore. I can't stand the AI generated David Attenborough voice reading text taken from some Codex or Wikipedia.
The genesteallers are to normal Tyranids as Slaanesh and Tzeench forces are to Khorne Chaos Marines. 40K really needs more of these kinds of factions, which share affiliation with an existing group but move the conflict into a whole other theater of war.
Upon listening to this video one more time I had been wondering whether Genesteelers were more like evil people or more like dumb animals who do heinous things in their nature but are still dumb animals. The host of this video described Genesteelers' intellience and methods and goals and I decided that rather than Genesteelers being aliens that function by their nature albeit to a complex extreme. I decided that chances are these beings are just plain conscientiously evil or at least bad. Good video though.
If memory serves, there's one account of an Avatar of Khaine being infected, resulting in a Patriarch of Khaine. I know little else about it aside from those surface-level tidbits
Honestly, if I was born in the 40k universe - yeah, sign me up to be a genestealer cult member. An innate sense of purpose, camaraderie untainted by petty differences, telepathic communion with a being I am 100% convinced is divine, and a chance to watch a hive noble be eaten by a four-armed angel: yes, yes I do think I will sign on that dotted line instead of staying some kind of depressed techno-fedual serf.
Something I don't really understand about the genestealers is why they're needed. Maybe someone with better understanding can tell, but as far as I am aware the hive fleets are pretty much unstoppable outside of big events to make other factions look good, so having a cult that takes decades to spread enough to grant an amount of soldiers that is miniscule compared to the swarm and its imperial guard opponents seems a bit moot. And yes, the subterfuge the cult can partake in is certainly helpful, but you'd think more terrible, specialized beasts like Lictors could overwhelm and destroy the leadership, infrastructure and communications of a planet if they were sent en masse.
If u like these videos? : luetin09, Scholars lore, and Arch. they have been doing lore videos for longer so have a larger backlog which you can kinda just jump into and figure out what things are as you go, stuff gets brought up repeatedly and referenced a lot
Honestly if your not going to be reading or listening to the books I'd recommend looking up stuff you you think is cool there are so many warhammer content creators many of which who have been doing this for years that your garentied to find pretty much anything

That’s actually funny as shit bro
"Those darn pantaloons-stealers!"
@@unkelTP Pantaloon Pinchers
Dang underpants gnomes
Get out, you silly bastard, hahaha, that really is a good one
What's crazy is at one point there was a Gene stealer cult rebellion, an Ork attack and a Chaos incursion all at the same time for one planet.
Beneath his blackened helm, a slight grin formed on Khorne's normally rage-locked visage lol
Gork and Mork provide only the finest scraps for their followers, because they are green gods and therefore the best.
At that point if you’re a human on that planet just give up bruh
That sounds like something that can be reenacted through the tabletop war game.
Hell of a party.
I always love how the Genestealer Cults have such a ‘Shadow Over Innsmouth’ vibe to them… and are the harbingers of an ancient and unknowable entity
Or "village of the damned"

That chill in your spine when you hear "their main invasion fleet is said to STILL BE ON THE WAY."
One of the more unsetteling aspects of Genestealers is that they were first encounted long befor the hive fleets arived, having been on the moons of Ymgarl for longer than Imperial records existed, and acting as the opponets for on of the first 40K games, Space Hulk.

I think Genestealer Cults has the most potential for great story. Imagine a Lovecraftian conspiracy thriller with any possible setting that can be one of imperial worlds.
Especially with the addition of mindf*ckers like Lictors.
There is a book named "Genestealer Cults" by Peter Fehervari, it has some conspiracy thriller vibes in it

I feel like a book about someone who gets possessed by a genestealer would be an absolute banger.
I like the more subtle of the Genestealer cults such as the "Jormangandr" and the "twisted helix".
Nothing worse than getting my favorite pair of genes stolen.
Every post you make brings joy. Thank you TES
Warrior Tier made a great audio drama depicting a genestealer uprising from the perspective of an average hiver. I highly recommend giving it a watch.

I was just thinking of checking your channel for new 40k lore stuff and BOOOM you drop one 😂
I like these faction dives - I wonder if we could get a similar series about the colleges of magic which existed in the pre-AoS Warhammer World?
What would happen if the entire Imperium of Man becomes fully aware of the existence of genestealer cults?
