I just recorded a cover of this myself. You cannot imagine how difficult this song is. I have heard Tarja and Floor blow the roof off it, and I have slain the dragon myself the best I could. And I have to say, this being the first time I have ever heard Anette's version, I think she did a good job, her sweet tone.

So many people hate her, but I legitimately love this. Especially the part starting at 5:50, "bring me home and leave me be..." I wish that we had heard more of Anette's head voice in her time with Nightwish as well - it's so beautiful.

This is why Floor's versatility is so important to Nightwish. They're not pigeonholed into a particular style. Having said that, Annette's albums were great and her voice worked specifically well to the subject matter. When she does Tarja's songs, she really struggles, but that's not her fault. Most singers would have trouble. Ask Tarja to sing Storytime and she would probably ruin it. It's just not suited to her and that's okay.
Chris Hood There are songs that Tarja can sing in the newer Nightwish albums because when I heard Floor sing stargazers I was almost cringing, it wasn’t good at all but again it was from an operatic person and it goes a little fast so it is gonna be hard for singers like Floor and Anette.

I thought Anette would do a good job singing this song. I thought "maybe she can sing a soft song without trying to reach the high notes". I was right. But I still prefer Tarja's performance.Well done, Anette, is not easy to do what you do
think the problem isnt anette is the way they fired tarja combined with a complete style change in vocal. She had a hopeless starting point. so getting accepted by the hard core fans is just hopless, i fear if floor had joined at that stage she would also have problems getting accepted she just isnt operatic enough for the hard core tarja fans. So in my opuinion she was at the wrong place at the wrong time. No one can say she cant sing, she just has the wrong style.
I love her, and I am very emphatic because of all the hate she received unfairly. Also, we have to say that she was fired from the band in a similar way to Tarja. When Tarja left she joined the band because that was her job, she had nothing against Tarja, the same with Floor when Anette left. Between the tree vocalist there shouldn't be any beef. The problem are the fans, there are many of them who doesn't care the vocalist emotions/mental health at all.
This was an interesting interpretation of Ghost Love Score. I’d always wondered why it was so hard to find videos of Anette singing it, but I suppose I know why now! (No, I am not an Anette hater; quite the opposite, but it is as other commenters said: you can tell that this song was not written for her.) That said, I do like her soft, sweet voice and enjoyed bits of this like the whole “redeem me into childhood” verse and the first verse. Annette is a beautiful lyric soprano. She has the range. She just needed some training. If Gaga could nail The Sound of Music then Anette could be trained to sing Ghost Love Score properly.
EXCELLENT rendition of Ghost Love Score by Anette!!! She used the low tones in the right places and held the song very well! This is a VERY demanding song, and even though the voice quality of this vid is back from 2009 technology, she STILL sounds very good!
Floors ending had a lot of soul also. They both have different voices and they both have different styles but it does not mean that one is better than the other. My personal favorite is floor and my second personal favorite is Annette. I don't like Tarya at all.

I prefer Tarja's version the most. I can't listen to it without becoming emotional. She hits the high notes and she's phenomenal while singing operatic. Floor's talent is out of this world though. Amaranth is best when sung by her.

I'm sorry, but this song isn't really for her to sing 😭 Don't get me wrong, she has a very unique tone, and I think she's a great singer in Dark Passion Play. It's just that she obviously struggles to sing some parts which kinda ruins the song, (not really her fault, Ghost Love Score IS a very hard song). Props to her for being brave enough to cover this though. I hope people would stop being so mean to her. Tarja's version will always be my favorite because of her dark timbre compared to the others', though after listening to Floor's version with the 'my fall will be for you' part in the end, Tarja's version feels like it's missing something.
I have always loved this song musically, but I just couldn't take the opera-vocals. They were way too "over-the-top" for me. Anette was my favorite vocalists Nightwish had. I would have liked to hear this song in studio form with Anette to see how much more I liked it with her singing.
I don't normally mind Tuomas using backing tracks on stage, but really dude, don't put a choral track on top of your soprano's big finale that over-powers her. It wasn't as bad with Tarja but he did it to her too.
At some points they're running a track of Tarja behind her. I can tell for sure because I did a merged track with Tarja singing a duet with Floor (check it out I only have a couple vids so it's easy to find), and the sound of Tarja in the backround is very distinctive!
I must say she improved a lot on the singing, still does not make justice to the song, that song was PERFECT with Tarja Turunen,,, Anette is a good singer, but I would have selected her for a pop band, not for a symphonic metal one, her voice does not fit in these kind of songs, just my opinion...

Es que la voz es como comparar a un amateur con un profesional. El primer concierto de Floor es con tres ensayosm y no falla una nota. Y se marca un Ghost love score para la historia. Esta chica de penita agena. Ella lo intenta pero es que no le da. Sera muy buena cantante, no lo dudo, pero no para Nightwish. Ni los graves ni los agudos. Encima lo ultimo ni lo intenta, para que. Annette make two Wonderful albums with her voice and Floor..Try to copy right the other two singers. She is not bad singer at all,but she try hard to be good in the songs and she had no passion,no soul in her performance.She is behind on the microphone all the time she moves her hands and moving her head all the time. See the WAGEN Fest with Annette, Tarja and Floor and you will understand the differences.You are maybe a Nw fun Floor's era but listen those masterpieces of NW first era and you will love Tarja's voice.I am NW with Tuomas songwriter,he is the soul, the singers are three till now but he is the one .

Del segundo tercio en adelante es Anette y me gusta siendo ella en su versión. Al comienzo no llegaba no más y me apena porque da la sensación de estar presionada por alcanzar algo que no está en su naturaleza vocal ni en su educación vocal. Siendo Anette es bella.

I'm sorry, but this song isn't really for her to sing 😭 Don't get me wrong, she has a very unique tone, and I think she's a great singer in Dark Passion Play. It's just that she obviously struggles to sing some parts which kinda ruins the song, (not really her fault, Ghost Love Score IS a very hard song). Props to her for being brave enough to cover this though. I hope people would stop being so mean to her.
Tarja's version will always be my favorite because of her dark timbre compared to the others', though after listening to Floor's version with the 'my fall will be for you' part in the end, Tarja's version feels like it's missing something.
I have always loved this song musically, but I just couldn't take the opera-vocals. They were way too "over-the-top" for me. Anette was my favorite vocalists Nightwish had. I would have liked to hear this song in studio form with Anette to see how much more I liked it with her singing.

I don't normally mind Tuomas using backing tracks on stage, but really dude, don't put a choral track on top of your soprano's big finale that over-powers her. It wasn't as bad with Tarja but he did it to her too.
At some points they're running a track of Tarja behind her. I can tell for sure because I did a merged track with Tarja singing a duet with Floor (check it out I only have a couple vids so it's easy to find), and the sound of Tarja in the backround is very distinctive!

I must say she improved a lot on the singing, still does not make justice to the song, that song was PERFECT with Tarja Turunen,,, Anette is a good singer, but I would have selected her for a pop band, not for a symphonic metal one, her voice does not fit in these kind of songs, just my opinion...

Dark passion play and Imaginearum was with Annette's voice and they are both amazing. This song is for Tarja's voice but Annette sung great, with her voice. She isn't Tarja and have different voice. And the singers have a lot talents except voices.

This is so lame compared to Floor, who nails this song. There were always some kind of problems during the tours with Anette, who simply did not fit to the band with her poppish singing style and flower dresses.

The change in Nightwish through Anette has made many fans wonder about the band but Tuomas ensures that the opera stuff were long gone even before that.
"When the original idea of Nightwish was to make nice campfire-music, one could say that the idea already changed 10 years ago. We also dropped the opera vocals before Century Child-album. People are complaining now that we have left out the opera vocals but in my opinion, we left them already 5 years ago."
Tuomas also thinks that a band should never be a prisoner for any specific format.
"This was the music that everyone in the band wanted and one must follow the heart. Otherwise you start selling out. Nightwish is not a style or genre. It is a vision of 5 musicians and their view how to make music. Selfish? You bet. True? Damn straight!"
Retrospectively, considering the fact that she had no lyrical singing capabilities, do you still think Anette was the right choice for Nightwish at the time?
Yes, I do. I’ve said this many times. When I listen to Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum, I don’t think there is another person who could have sung those songs better than her. I really, honestly think so, and the rest of the band does, as well. That was not the issue.(Interview when Annette had left and Floor was singer).

“When Anette’s voice went away. But there were other issues, difficulty of logistics and problems with some members of the staff. It was truly a long and exhausting tour. I am saying that we quite pushed it too far. We will not go on such a gigantic tour like this with the new album. It has no point to nearly kill ourselves.”
Tuomas Holopainen: We took a formal vote, but it was unanimous that she would be the one. It was a matter of heart. We felt she would be the right one, and everybody agreed.

Tuomas Holopainen: We absolutely wanted to have something different. That was our only criteria. We didn't build a profile of what the new singer should sound like, what she should look like, or where she should be from. We just trusted the right one would be out there. The only thing we knew for sure was we did not want another classically trained operatic singer in the band. We thought it was time to move on and not find a copycat. The hard task was to find someone who had the same power and passion and emotion in her voice, but still sounded different. I personally think we hit the jackpot with Anette because her voice is really strong, but she can also do some wonderful interpretations. She has a lot of variety in her voice. She has a storyteller's voice and doesn't sound like Tarja at all.

La pena es ver a Nightwish con Anette, escucharla distorsionar y hacer gallos, fallar las notas altas y entonar mal las canciones te destroza la experiencia. Es un daño para los fans y la banda, ella reconoció que es cantante de pop y Floor de mettal y que va a gustar mucho mas, no es eso, que la presencia hace. Es que la voz es como comparar a un amateur con un profesional. El primer concierto de Floor es con tres ensayosm y no falla una nota. Y se marca un Ghost love score para la historia. Esta chica de penita agena. Ella lo intenta pero es que no le da. Sera muy buena cantante, no lo dudo, pero no para Nightwish. Ni los graves ni los agudos. Encima lo ultimo ni lo intenta, para que. Mejor que no hacer el ridiculo.
Y si te da tanta pena qué hacés acá? Tenés bocha de versiones de Flor y Tarja en calidad DVD para hacerte la paja, no la escuhes a Anette y listo. Qué ganas de hacer hate al pedo.
