Joel has had such a big impact as a character that it feels like we lost a very close person in our real lives. I miss him so much, really hope they drop a dlc where you play as Ellie with him.

People kinda miss the message of this game. Every action has a reaction that can effect your life in ways you never thought possible. Joel saved Ellie because he loved her so much. He quite literally gave up the world to save Ellie and have time with her. And Joel was rewarded.. rewarded with 4 beautiful years with her, he got to sing for her, teach her how to swim and play guitar. I'm sure they went on adventures and they watched tons of movies. Joel was truly blessed... But in his selfishness, he murdered good people who were doing the right thing by making a cure, and he was punished for it... very brutally. And it's not the honorable death we would of liked, but like Joel said if he a second chance he'd do it all over again. And I believe Joel felt that exact same way up until his very last moment. Even knowing the outcome, I bet he'd still do it just the same and that brings me some peace. And then there Ellie, who used her rage to justify the killing of this who killed Joel... and in doing so lost a piece of herself emotionally and physically... killing Mel absolutely devistated her, especially because Dina was going through the same thing and Ellie felt way beyond awful, it was literally gut wrenching for her after she realized... then she finally decides to track down Abby and ends up loses two fingers... on her way back home Dina has moved leaving Ellie alone in the house, where she finds a guitar. She tries to play it but can't hit the chords because she's missing two fingers.... In the rage of her pursuit for revenge she lost some of the two most important things in her life, her family and the Guitar Joel taught her how to play that she treasure so much. Every Action Has A Reaction That Effects Your Life In Ways You Never Thought Possible. R.I.P Joel❤❤ You will be dearly missed
Big oof when you realise this song resonated with Joel pre-Outbreak because he was looking forward to his future days with Sarah. He lost her. He lost himself. Everything he found in Jackson, he didn't find by himself.
I was thinking a lot about the game, bc this masterpiece did a big impact on me. I missed this aspect of the song, and now its more deep and sad than ever, so thank you! In my oppinion at the end of the story everything comes together, everything is connected and every act and really small things has meaning. Thats the reason why i'm in love whit the game.

I'd imagine it takes a lot for a father to move on after losing a daughter. and considering men aren't very good at dealing with their troubles or past with others, not unless they're very close and personal with someone special. then it should be known how much Joel really cares about Ellie since he's singing this song to her. I'd like to think he mentally replaced Sarah in a lot of ways. but he'll always have sarah in his heart. this song makes me cry and wonders why the game didn't delve further into joel's role as a father-figure for ellie. there could of been a lot of relatable obstacles that fathers struggle with their kids growing up. now that's all been wasted. He'll never see her get married, have kids, or live a peaceful life. the world has turned Ellie into what joel was after he lost a loved one. a lonely monster. now. she'll go find her own tess, and later her own Ellie.

I found this scene more emotional than Joel's death. As soon as I heard it though, I knew they were having Joel killed off early in the game. Before the game's release, I knew it was Joel or Dinah(I personally believed it was going to be Joel) who died but having Joel sing this gave the required evidence to point Joel's death to a certainty.
That would’ve been an epic plot twist. Kinda like Telltales Walking Dead. How (Spoiler) it seemed that Clem died but she cut of her legg just in time. Maybe Joel’s eye would be gone and some missing teeth. But still alive
joel trusted someone unknown for the first time in years and paid for it, certainly while dying he should be thinking "this is what you get for trusting people"
Wasn't the first time in years. You find out him and Tommy have been helping travelers stock up on supplies and rest at Jackson before they head out. He has been trying to regain his humanity over those 4+ years off screen. He knows he was a horrible person in the past and them ambushing him doesn't surprise him.

The game did not flop sales wise and received a mix bag of reviews critically about its story line (mostly everyone agrees that its visually stunning and the game play is amazing. The story if difficult to like and difficult to understand. This story really just displays the most real version of what can happen in this world. Joel can easily die and die horribly because he did horrible things. As we play the game we see that Abby's actions are just as noble as Ellie or Joels, maybe even more so. The ultimate test of the game is asking the player if they can forgive Abby. It is hard to swallow but in reality her actions are not too different from the characters we love. In the ending Ellie forgives Joel through forgiving Abby. Guilt sends Ellie down a destructive obsessive path, she loses herself in this. This is foreshadowed in this songs theme, "If I ever were to lose you, I'd surely lose myself." in Ellie's quest for revenge she tries to be more like Joel but realizes she isn't and in the end lets him go. Abby does not get closure from killing Joel and in fact killing him ruined her life more. It is not until her innocence is , in a way, restored through saving Lev. An innocence that Ellie never finds until she walks away from the farm house and leaves Joel (and his guitar ) behind. We don't get to see Ellie's innocence restored, and if this feels like the player didn't get the pay off then you fail to understand that this was more about testing our own ability to forgive. The game should leave you questioning a lot, that is why the game is great and otherwise people just failed to see the point or could not understand it because it flew over their heads.

Tommy's fate is worse than death. He was even a firefly who was a good person and didn't hurt anybody. He will never be the same man he used to be and all of this is going to eat away at him until his last breath.

And then you play as Abby half the game which sucks ass and the character swapping sucks too we waited 7 years to play as Ellie and Joel and then you play half the game as the girl who out of no where kills Joel like what the fuck. she didn't put of nowhere kill him she was hunting him for killing her father, just like Ellie hunts her down Abby for killing her 'father' (Joel) Abby and Ellie are quite similar if you think about it. Also R.I.P Ghost, Roach and Price
