Hi, I'm Carlo, I hope your crying was positive, we would never want to make someone cry in a sad way, I apologize if I also tell you my thoughts on this topic, I want to tell you that maybe even more than Nicki, I am a very happy person, and in some ways very satisfied, yet I have been born and lived in the same place for 54 years now, perhaps I have never had stimuli, or dreams to chase to feel fulfilled, perhaps I have never even thought about it, everyone has a his way to happiness, you just have to find yours.

I found this channel quite by accident and I'm so glad I did. This has been the most enjoyable series of videos I have seen a long time you make us feel like part of the family or close friends keep on doing what you doing love from the West Coast of the USA
I’m a Dad back home. My daughter moved to Los Angeles 11 years ago she was 19. LA is a very long way and very different from Michigan. Every year she finds new opportunities and is a little more successful. She is strong, determined, independent, assertive, and very tough. I am so very proud of her. And I miss her so much. Not having her nearby leaves such a big hole. But we raised her to be independent to live her life as she wants. She has my total support.
Nicki, this episode really fascinated me, life is made up of small coincidences that can drastically change the course. Kudos for your determination to make bold choices, in the end you were rewarded with a beautiful outcome that you absolutely deserve. Thank you for sharing with us the story of your youth and how your beautiful family was formed with Carlo, so romantic, God bless you 💚💚
When I was in my thirties, I desperately wanted to live in France. (I’m Canadian.) I was, and still am, married, with two children in school. I didn’t want to end up at sixty never having done it. It took some doing, but we ended up living in Provence, where I home-schooled my children. I’m over sixty now, and have that wonderful experience to call my own. I’m so glad I never gave up on my dream. It is a highlight of my life.
Your story is utterly gorgeous and inspirational. I did the exact same thing and told myself in 2008 “if you never move overseas, will you regret it?” The answer was yes and with just 2 months planning I moved across the world. 13 years, 100 countries visited and 5 lived in later, I watched your video with the biggest smile on my face thinking “I did it! I really did it”.
Your experience (at 24) is incredible but the following has little to do with that as you will read: During my first trip to Europe in 1970 (yes, 50+ years ago !) I and a friend, quite by accident, stumbled upon Positano. Also, by sheer accident, we came upon the recently opened Hotel Il San Pietro. Again, by accident, upon entering the lobby we met Carlo Cinque who owned the hotel. He was incredibly gracious and generous. He provided us with separate rooms with balconies overlooking the sea. Truly beautiful. He also invited us on the very first night into his private apartment which was the genesis for the hotel as well as inviting us back to have breakfast the next morning. I'll never forget the fresh goat's milk. And then we joined him and about 10 of his friends for dinner. To my left was a fashion photographer from London and to my right was a sister or cousin of Gianni Agnelli. That was followed by all of us going to the terrace to watch a fireworks display. I asked Mr. Cinque where we could go and dance. He said he would have a staff member drive us to and pick us up from Buca Di Bacco where they closed when the last patron left. There's more but to say it was an incredible and surreal experience would be an understatement. Oh, I almost forgot to mention what we were charged for our rooms. It was $10 a night. Yes, Ten Dollars. Unbelievable but true.
Really Charming story I see why you were attracted to Carlo from the beginning He was a handsome young guy and he still is. He seems like a kind soul. Your destiny led you to a happy life. BRAVO
This was delightful! You think it was a filler b/c of bad weather, but it's gotten so many views because- YOU ARE A WONDERFUL STORYTELLER....and it's full of serendipity. It was meant to be.
You are the perfect example of: " What you think you become, what you feel you attract, what you imagine you create" It was same for me at 20 I knew I didn't want to live England, went to a Greek island for a working holiday summer, met my husband, had the most wonderful time, loved Greece!!🏝️☀️ Joined him later in Vienna to finish his Uni studies and I managed to work at the UN headquarters there. Thereafter the last 35 yrs we settled in Greece.
Three years a ago I moved myself and four dogs from the UK to a small Bulgarian farm, I didn't want any more 'what if' moments in my life. Every one thinks how brave I am to have done it, nothing brave at all, just a determination to live a better life.
I loved this! When I was 10, my dad had to work in Paris for 8 weeks. My parents decided to take my sister and I. It was a pivitol experience in my life. I knew i wanted to go to school in Paris someday...but someday came and I didn't pursue that dream sadly. I always wanted to speak French and no matter how I tried, it just didn't happen. I had a great life but wanted to do something different, so 8 years ago I became a travel advisor. I just recently started taking French class (during covid). I may not live in Paris but am planning to live in Europe somewhere. Yo were brave and your dreams came true. Inspiring!
Dear Nicki, not sure if you’ll get to see this but just wanted to say how much I love your video diaries. I’m a British girl too, having left my country of birth to start anew life in New Zealand. Have lived here 20 years, now married. I love seeing your life in Italy. I love Italy too. I so miss travelling to Italy now I live in NZ. But your videos are sooo wonderful and I’m learning so much about beautiful Italy. I also agree that one needs to take those opportunities as they present themselves. I’m glad that I did. I also hope one day Carlo and you will marry. You are perfect together! ❤️Much love xxx
This was so inspiring. No regrets, just go for it. Big or small: At the very best, everything falls into place and works out. At the very least, you've tried, and that alone can go a very long way. Thank you for sharing your story.
It really sounds like it was written in the stars! It just had to happen and Carlo was also part of the plan for you! I would never go back to Montreal, not because I don't love my native city (oh but I truly don't miss the snow!),, but because Italy was in my blood since I could remember and where I made my home! You certainly would have had a different (better??) life if you hadn't stayed in Positano, but you wouldn't have had Carlo, Skye, Holly, the kitty, the chickens, the vegetables, your 500 steps, the breathtaking views and all you've learned through Carlo's family's traditions, which to me is the most beautiful gift! I'm glad you stayed and even more glad you've decided to share your life with us through your videos. Un abbraccio!💞
Living in New Zealand this is truly a young woman's wholesome dream come true. Then till now, thank you for sharing medicine of your life to those who may or may not have their version of paradise. Cu Ana
It feels like Positano lured you in at a young age and you are home there as well. Carlo felt it as well. He fell in love with an English rose. You can say you have no regrets and that's terrific. You inspire everyone with your diaries. Thank you.
I've loved your channel since you posted this particular episode. I actually started watching your channel around episode 74 or so, but this is the one that got me hooked. Such a wonderful story and such an inspiring message 💖It moved me especially deep at the time considering I had just made a huge life move myself at age 54. Now 3 years later and I've loved watching your channel (and all of you) grow...you just keep getting better and better! Thank you for sharing your life with us...sending many, many blessings to you!
I cried watching this...thank you....I am glad it rained & you sat down & told your story ....and at the end gave advice, it inspired me and made me feel better about a life changing decision I have made, not as a young person but quite old! I love your channel.
You made the right choice! What a beautiful life you have. After a difficult breakup, in 1989 at the age of 27, I moved to Athens, Greece. My roommate had joined the foreign service and worked at the Embassy. That led to the most amazing 5 years in Greece, working there and visiting so many beautiful places and islands. I’m not Greek but I feel like I am a little now. The Greek people were so warm and welcoming. The scenery, history, food! From Ohio.
I had lived in UK for three years and I feel like I am a half English even I am not)) My dad he was in Ohio, do you know any Uzbek in US? He knows so many good places there too! Still you can enjoy there too But I am agree Europe , Greece🇬🇷 Italy 🇮🇹 all places are good, they have a good cheese natural tomato 🍅 everything is so fresh!
I felt I lived through your life-and I got goosebumps just listening 😍 and it’s like a novel😍😍😍 This is soo inspiring! Best way to enjoy life is take some risks make sure later you wouldn’t have to say, ‘I regret not doing that!’
Nicki.. Your video made me cry .. And that is the absolute truth .. I retired in June of last year (2020) .. And it has always been my dream once I retired to live by the sea .. And you are so right .. At some point a person has to stop saying or dreaming and make it a reality in life .. Right now .. I may not be able to retire and live by the sea .. But I have so much freedom now that I didn't have before .. And love being able to spend time with my family .. Wishing you and Carlos and Sky much success for "2021" .. Thank you for sharing !
I'm there with you Donna. My husband and I are old now with medical conditions and the dream of moving somewhere near the sea seems impossible. I hope we can at least some a few months every year pretending to live near the sea. Fingers crossed.
Such a beautiful and inspiring life story, thank you! On a personal note my husband and I have a plan to visit the Amalfi Coast for our belated 25th Wedding Anniversary.

I was definitely meant to see this video- there is no place like home but there are no places like in Italy. So thank you!! Great video! Normally I get a little bored when someone talks about their life. You are a lovely story teller and I thoroughly enjoyed how you came to be in Positano! Keep up the great vlogs! You are a wonderful ambassador for the Amalia coast.
I had the most wonderful holiday in Positano. I spent a fortune on food but it was worth it. It was a magical experience. Would love to go back. You did the right thing glad it turned out well for you
Lovely story, some things are just meant to be, after being divorced for 4 years I met up with an old school friend, he was in the process of getting divorced too. Within a year we moved from Yorkshire down to Lincolnshire bought a small holding. 34 years later and having our own son we are still here, both retired growinh our own fruit and veg, 6 chicken and a dog. Never got married but still as happy the day we moved here. It was all meant to be!!! X

Just don't wake up 20 years from now and say what IF. Jo now speak Spanish has her own school teaching English, built a beautiful house in the north of Spain and has a gorgeous little boy who 6 now. Your story gives me hope, I have always dreamed about moving to England and is probably going to be hard since I live in Brazil and the world is what it is right now but the dream is still alive more than ever. I'll be 24 next month about the age I thought my life would be sorted but the only thing I got is this dream and a hope for a better tomorrow.

got to your channel via Leaw. I have a similar story to yours, I fell in love with Ireland when I was 14, I am German. Kept coming back for holidays for years, finally took a summer job and I am still here, 42 years later, found a vocation which suited me, got my little cottage, and have now retired. Couldn't be happier
Thank you so much for sharing such a personal journey. Gave me chills listening to your story. Destiny often meets us in the most unexpected ways. Cheers from America.
My partner is Italian, from Milano. His family had a monstrous 60's summer house in a village above Lake Maggiore, where we would come very summer for a week or two. (Only summer, the place was completely unheatable so it got closed down from October until May!). One summer after I decided I didn't want to work any more we loaded up the Fiat Panda with the intention of driving to the Balkans and points east. W stopped at the holiday house for a few days. One day, walking down to the lake for a swim we passes a gate with a sign "vendesi". Mostly, houses round here cost a lot of money because Switzerland, but we called the number of the agent out of curiosity, who arrived within 20 minutes and unlocked the gate. We made a ridiculously low offer that afternoon, which to everyone's surprise was accepted. We never got to the Balkans....no regrets at all. I love it here.
man... I hope I make my life as amazing as yours. I'm trying to follow the voice in my chest a little more than the voice in my head. Thanks for the video.
Wow Nicki, I have been following you for years now. I usually don not like to interact. But this video was amazing. It reminded me of my story when I moved to USA in 1999. You are talented and with a beautiful family. We chatted long time ago. Keep doing what you are doing and as we say here: YOU DO YOU.
Thank you for telling your story. I decided at 21 I wanted to try living and working abroad. I ended up in various parts of Spain for 2 years, best years ever and I have no regrets although at the time (early 90’s) so many people tried to put me off! I always say to my kids the world is out there waiting for you, when your old enough fo see it ❣️
At 72 I moved to Paris on a hope and a prayer from NYC and I’ve never regretted it. As an artist there isn’t a better place you could live except maybe Positano, Rome etc. Life is definitely better and cheaper than New York. The benefits so outweigh the alternative. Granted I’m still working on my French...I will get some kids books this week. Thank you & Bravo !
(Moira Ashton) Thank you Nicki, that was so interesting, lovely to see pics of all those years ago, We did similar at the other end of our lives! We retired to Andalucia, in 2007 to a little town called Orgiva! One hour South of Granada, sadly my lovely husband died 2 years ago on the 1st of February, but we had over 11 happy years here, I have been here over 13 yrs now, and have so many good friends here, It's definitely my home, but like everyone else haven't seen family because of the wretched Covid. If you want to do something - go for it!!! No regrets.. 💕💗💓
Hi Nick and Carlo, Really nice story, you look so happy which is important. Would be nice for Carlo to do a short story next time!!! Keep up your lovely vlogs. Ian from Cornwall UK
First time my mother took me and two of my brothers to Italy, I was aged 11. Six weeks of beach everyday. Playing with our cousins. We cried like babies when we had to come home to England. It was like the end of the world. Lol 👍❤️👍
Nicki, I almost cried at the end. I, too, am thinking about making another life decision. I moved to Puerto Rico with my husband who desired to relocate to this island. So we purchased a cute 3 bedroom house in the mountains but two years later he died!(Illness). So now I am thinking of relocating on my own to Portugal. It will take some planning. I keep trying to get the idea out of my mind but it keeps coming back. I'm so glad I was able to visit the region where you live last year right before covid. My goodness, it is so breathtaking beautiful. I would love to return one day. My name is Rebecca.
I lived in Milan and Liguria for a few years back in the early 1980's. It was really good for me, I loved learning the language and wished I'd stayed, but had to return to England due to family reasons. I really enjoyed this... it triggered happy memories. I am pleased life is treating you both kindly. Stay blessed and happy. xxx
I started tearing up at the end. Thank you so much for this! I've always wanted to travel but got distracted with relationships. This past year it's made me so much more focused on me and has reminded me of the things I wanted before falling in love. ✌️Thank you again!
“Are you going to regret it if you don’t do it?” That’s exactly what I was thinking in 1999 so I moved to NY......🤣And never have to think about what could have happened! Thank you for sharing your story.....❤️

Thank you for making yourselves vulnerable and you are rock stars in this video. I'm amazed. Seriously. You hit it out of the park!!! Thank you for sharing your life with us... even when you don't have to. XO, PS
You have offered solid advice. When I backed out of moving to Prague...I regretted it...then the opportunity to pick up and move to Colorado came about and I jumped on it...frightened...but I knew I had to or would regret it forever. 8.5 years later and I can honestly say that it was amazing and I have moved to two more states since. My 6 years in Colorado taught me so much about myself. And I met my husband. Excellent advice. And best wishes.
What a lovely story, I'm my 60s now do you think I could find someone as good looking as Carlo? Ha, ha, ha. Everything about Positioning looks so beautiful, one day before I leave this world I would love to visit Italy.
Thank you for telling your story Nicki. I knew bits of it from your past vlogs and writings, but it was really wonderful to hear you tell it in person in more detail with photos and music. How adorable are all those old photos?! Loved seeing you, Carlo and Skye when you were all younger. And how wonderful that many of the characters in your story back then are still in your life in some way now. Time flies, especially when you're living a happy & rewarding life. Thanks again for sharing yourself and your life with us in such a genuine and vulnerable way.
I moved when I was 19 yrs. old to Florida from South Side of Chicago. Now being 40. I live in one of the nicest areas in my town. I remember driving down the road when I was 19 & I said I will live on this road on the water side one day. (My family was poor and I grew up poor.) I remember someone laughing at me and telling me I'll never have that. I actually have that house on the riverside. But, I'm ready for different things. I'm just trying to figure out what direction to go. Thanks for the beautiful story Nicki. ❤️

Such a beautiful life history of yourself, thoughly enjoyed listening to everything you said. I never had the opportunity or courage to do what you did until I was 29 when I took my first flight ever and went to Italy. Went to the ducati factory in Bolognia bought a motorcycle and toured Europe for 3 months. Being of Italian heritage I return every 2--3 years, love the people, culture, architecture but couldn't live there, my lifestyle in Australia is to great to leave, especially our climate. Hoping to be in positano for a week this September, covid pending.
What a lovely life you and Carlo have made in Positano, and who knew you would end up living all of your dreams .. you are in television with famous people after all
Thank you Nicki, I love your vlogs. This one is like watching my life. I came to London in 1999 just for few months to improve my english, see it and enjoy it. In those few months I met lots of lovely people and quite few of them are still my best friends. I did go back home in September 99 but I couldn't settle and I missed London. I came back next year in April 2000 and since then I am here. One of my best friends is from Benevento. She showed me Amalfi coast. Oh oh one day soon I will come back....Thank you for sharing your story.💗💗💗
It was my dream but did not work out for me... I left with a lot of pain in my heart .. I still love Italy and its good hearted people... I still wish to live there someday... but for now.. I am at peace where I am .... watching your videos fill me with joy as they are the reincarnation of my dream “someone did it... and I will too.. someday.. a happy day” 💕🌸🌿

No amount of money earned can replace the little piece of heaven you have found. 🌈

The world is our playground, agree. Funnily I went to South Africa when I was 20 and stayed 4 years. I hope I get to do more travel soon.
Hi from Parys Freestate.
@@janiceannburn2678 hi Janice, my in laws also live in Parys!
I LOVE HER !
Really Charming story
I see why you were attracted to Carlo from the beginning
He was a handsome young guy and he still is. He seems like a kind soul. Your destiny led you to a happy life. BRAVO
Actually Brava! (Complimenting a female)
Always learning lol, thank you 😊
They both looks great and healthy 👍
i was just going to write the same thing. He seems to have a kind soul.
This was delightful! You think it was a filler b/c of bad weather, but it's gotten so many views because- YOU ARE A WONDERFUL STORYTELLER....and it's full of serendipity. It was meant to be.
You are the perfect example of:
" What you think you become,
what you feel you attract,
what you imagine you create"
It was same for me at 20 I knew I didn't want to live England, went to a Greek island for a working holiday summer, met my husband, had the most wonderful time, loved Greece!!🏝️☀️ Joined him later in Vienna to finish his Uni studies and I managed to work at the UN headquarters there. Thereafter the last 35 yrs we settled in Greece.
I was thinking these very words as I watched the vlog!
Your channel is a hidden treasure. ❤️ Your story is really inspiring and truly encourage those who are indecisive and undetermined!
Three years a ago I moved myself and four dogs from the UK to a small Bulgarian farm, I didn't want any more 'what if' moments in my life. Every one thinks how brave I am to have done it, nothing brave at all, just a determination to live a better life.
I think it was a good decision 👍
You too should monetize it on UA-cam!
Inspiring!
I moved to Florence, Italy this past year and I am 24, so watching this was incredibly insightful! I love the vintage photos of you working on sets!
Hi, Fiona, I'm Carlo, Instead we saw your comment, never say never, We really liked what you said, Thanks a lot.
This was so inspiring. No regrets, just go for it. Big or small: At the very best, everything falls into place and works out. At the very least, you've tried, and that alone can go a very long way. Thank you for sharing your story.
This vlog was like a warm blanket for my heart!!.
And “not my kitty” lol
Ah, yes of course!!!😃💞
Oh yes👍
You not officially ever "moving" there is how you know it was where you were meant to be. There was always a reason for you to stay. How beautiful 🥰
How serendipitous that the car stopped and asked if you knew someone to work in the gallery! Life is grand!
That was no coincidence!
Living in New Zealand this is truly a young woman's wholesome dream come true.
Then till now, thank you for sharing medicine of your life to those who may or may not
have their version of paradise.

From Ohio.
I had lived in UK for three years and I feel like I am a half English even I am not))
My dad he was in Ohio, do you know any Uzbek in US?
He knows so many good places there too!
Still you can enjoy there too
But I am agree Europe , Greece🇬🇷 Italy 🇮🇹 all places are good, they have a good cheese natural tomato 🍅 everything is so fresh!

Sorry about the tears, was not my intention!
I'm there with you Donna. My husband and I are old now with medical conditions and the dream of moving somewhere near the sea seems impossible. I hope we can at least some a few months every year pretending to live near the sea. Fingers crossed.

I truly think it was meant to be. Positano was always calling you back.
