People saying take the radiator off. Yeah sure it’s better, but it’s a discussion with the customer/client. No way am I doing it myself off my own back. - not insured for it and in a world of pain if something goes wrong. No chance.
Same, not insured for a problem. If customer wants to get a plumber in fine.
I'm not a plumber, I'm not trained as a plumber... I've only every done decorating and only qualified in decorating.. not plumbing... each trade to their own. ;)
so yes, If a rad needs to come off, a plumber gets called. :)

Well done Phil, they didn’t make it easy for you with them pipes lower down for you. Agree in an ideal world be good to have Radiator off if client gets a plumber in. So you made the best of it. Did you wrap paper around the entrance or finish it on the arch?
It was just finished off at the edge, wasn't any need to wrap around on this one. :)
Jußt did a candy stripe where the walls are running out from a mil to an inch, lasered centre of wall but got to the corner & runs out, normally splice & straighten back up, but can't do that with a stripe as it will start on one corner of wall & end up running on the other, nightmare, never been a fan of lining especially if walls are sound, most papers are paste the wall today & with paste being mainly water it can cause bubbling as your trying to apply paper on top, just did a paper called Phantasia by House of Hackney £195 a roll, basically a mural & went up beautifully, it was for Lydia bright
The wallpaper you look at and cringe when you've already seen how the corners look . :(

Same issue here the other day. An old barn conversion, munks and me paper and corners like boomerangs! Before I even opened the tube the paper came in, I told the customer there was absolutely no way I was getting that match around the corners. I managed to square the corner up a bit using toupret fill & skim, a laser and an extra day and a half labour but it still looked a bit cringe when I'd finished. As Phil says, sometimes it is what it is!
@@AspireDecorating I've done a stripe with emulsion before , masked up,& was going to do that here but the paper wasn't over expensive so she went with that, i wished i had gone with painting in the stripe , cream & pink,although it was only the width of masking tape once you base coat in the cream laser line & mask it really don't take too long & i could of got around the issue better
Never seen it done like that before. You'd surely never pull this off with a crappy (paste the back) wallpaper that customers often supply, the paper would be so supple it would surely tear with all that pulling and marking out? I was taught to measure and cut on the boards whilst dry, little bit of effort but accurate within mm's rather than quarter inch... I know you can't see it unless you look behind but personally Phil I'd not feel happy leaving a gap like that

@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator the one behind the radiator... That you can't see unless you look I guess. Genuine question though, did you never learn to cut paper on the board before pasting back in the day? My grandfather an father both taught me that way

I can cut paper on a board when trimming down, I've videos on that in the play list, but this is non woven, I've not even got a board on this job.
I wouldn't be pre cutting dry paper and measuring out where cuts need to be, thats not how its done.
If it's paste teh paper, you take a bit more care on handling the paper, but same principle on tucking it in as far as you can go, mark it, bring it back out to cut with shears or if possile, cut with a blade if you can get in to it.
Did they or you have any college training at all for paperhanging?
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator appreciate your honest and full feedback Phil. I know everybody does things different and I guess it's what works and what you know best. My grandfather learnt on the job after the war but my father was lucky enough to have wallpaper training at Sanderson when they were in London. I did 3 years at college but wallpaper tuition was pretty dire in all honesty... Love your channel you're one of a kind buddy
I feel wallpapering is now becoming a dying art as no one is learning it correctly.
Paste the wall has made it easy for anyone to 'bang it on', but like anything, there's basics that everyone should have under their belt.

I turn off the rad valves cap them off remove rad and rad brackets hang paper then replace brackets and rad and vent, jobs a good in
I run my own decorating business much easier and better to take radiator off
Most decorators aren’t insured if you cause a leak from taking the rad off, especially if it’s an old rad they never tighten back up right again. If customer wants to get a plumber in fine.
Of course. But that isn't always an option.
