This video was immensely helpful! I grew and planted out my leeks as she said (the Hori-Hori knife was great.) I had a very nice crop of leeks, thanks to planting them about 6” deep. Thank you so very much!

Great to see another terrific how to!!" Compaction" isnt an issue... the compost/potting mix used should be spongy enough that it doesn't form a block of soil that's impenetrable to air and water. If it drains after watering, it isn't compacted. That sort of compaction results from heavy machinery on water logged soil.
So press as hard as you like, folks!

You can chop them and then put them in a big bowl of water. All the dirt will sink to the bottom. Then you can rinse them really fast in a strainer and they are clean and ready to eat.

Great video. You dibble the leeks in. Can you mound soil around the leeks and so bury them rather than transplant them?

First time planting leaks. Had it in mind to plant them in my raised garden bed (on stilts, but about 20 lin deep, and bought them as a 2 container of a clump of sprouts each. I realized this morning that's not going to work lol as I have probably over a hundred sprouts. I guess I'll. make another bed. Would used coffee grounds be suffient for their nitrogen needs? Thanks for video. Very helpful!

Why don’t you add the “green” part to your soups…I don’t waste it.

Great video! Do you add anything like a fertilizer to the seedlings at any point before transplanting? If so what kind?

Hey, how deep of a container for onions and leeks? I have Alison Craig (the big one) as well as smaller red onions. I also have leeks, which I wish to place in containers as well. Both the onions and leeks are currently in small pots ready to be transplanted. I live on the west coast of Canada.

HELLO RENEE I HAVE TRIED TO GERMINAT LEEK SEED TOO MANY TIMES AND ZERO RESULT. THE SEED CAME FROM YEMEN AND THE PLANTS LOOK MORE LIKE CHIVES ,BUT YET A LITTLE DIFFRENT WHITH NICE TASTE. WE LOVE IT AND IT IS VERY DIFFCULT TO FIND IN THE STATE SO I AM THINKING TO SEND YOU SOME SEED AND YOU TRY TO GROW THEM.

Only a fool would trash the greens away...for Greeks the green part is Gold and the lower onion part is, well, just an onion!
