I see now for my container garden that I will be using a large tub. Thanks for the bury deep tip!
Got the whole life cycle in one vid -- Well done!
This was very informative and not too long. I love that you showed it all the way to Harvest. Ty!
Didn't realise you have to plant them so deep. Thanks heaps, Renee. Excellent video!
I have never eaten a leek, but I will be seed starting them this Sunday, January 15, 2023 with some friends. Glad I found your video!
I'm growing them for the first time this year, this was very helpful!
How did they turn out?
Did the leeks do well? I'm trying them this year for the first time. That and sweet potatoes.
This video was immensely helpful! I grew and planted out my leeks as she said (the Hori-Hori knife was great.) I had a very nice crop of leeks, thanks to planting them about 6” deep. Thank you so very much!
Wonderful! Very simple and straightforward, thank you
I did ours exactly this way. Thankyou. First time growing them so it will be interesting.
Solid video, beautiful garden, cute doggie.
Hi Renee, just discovered your channel, interesting to see how you grow leeks I will give it a go, I live in UK we normally dib a hole in ground pop leek in then fill the hole with water and over time the hole fills in, great to see new ways, take care Steve
Fantastic video, I have learned more about Leeks on your video than any other.
First video of yours I have seen. You make great videos and very real, honest and informative. Be confident in what you do, your doing amazing, relax and enjoy the process. Thanks for the video I really appreciate it and am sowing some leeks tonight.
Great to see another terrific how to!!" Compaction" isnt an issue... the compost/potting mix used should be spongy enough that it doesn't form a block of soil that's impenetrable to air and water. If it drains after watering, it isn't compacted. That sort of compaction results from heavy machinery on water logged soil.
So press as hard as you like, folks!
Great information! Thank you.
The green is the best and most beneficial some say.. i like the green in soups
You can chop them and then put them in a big bowl of water. All the dirt will sink to the bottom. Then you can rinse them really fast in a strainer and they are clean and ready to eat.
I did not know that about leeks and how to plant them thanks for sharing
Great job on this video, cheers from Merseyside UK
Thanks, very helpful.
I am so envy of your garden. It looks amazing.
Excellent video. Thank you. ~Michele
Oh wow, that deep. Glad I found this video
Thank you, very inspiring!!❤
That was great. Would love to know the next step when the leeks go to seed.
Why don’t you add the “green” part to your soups…I don’t waste it.
First time planting leaks. Had it in mind to plant them in my raised garden bed (on stilts, but about 20 lin deep, and bought them as a 2 container of a clump of sprouts each. I realized this morning that's not going to work lol as I have probably over a hundred sprouts. I guess I'll. make another bed. Would used coffee grounds be suffient for their nitrogen needs? Thanks for video. Very helpful!
I loved seeing exactly how to transplant the leeks :). Can you tell us about how long it took from the time you planted the seeds until they were ready to transplant? Thank you!
Great video! Do you add anything like a fertilizer to the seedlings at any point before transplanting? If so what kind?
It’s been about 3 weeks since I planted leek seeds inside and none of them have germinated I never let them dry out soil temp is constant at 71F? I’m in 7a. And a beginner. Should I buy I different packet of seeds and try again?
How long about does it take from seed to the seedlings that you planted? I'm starting leeks for the 1st time ever.
WHEN do you plant them outside?
HELLO RENEE I HAVE TRIED TO GERMINAT LEEK SEED TOO MANY TIMES AND ZERO RESULT. THE SEED CAME FROM YEMEN AND THE PLANTS LOOK MORE LIKE CHIVES ,BUT YET A LITTLE DIFFRENT WHITH NICE TASTE. WE LOVE IT AND IT IS VERY DIFFCULT TO FIND IN THE STATE SO I AM THINKING TO SEND YOU SOME SEED AND YOU TRY TO GROW THEM.
I need some leek vegetable seeds please send them from Bangladesh❤
Only a fool would trash the greens away...for Greeks the green part is Gold and the lower onion part is, well, just an onion!
Hehe, the subtitle algorithm interpreted the crumpling seed packet noise as applause at about 2:30 :-)
