Professor Layton What me or Randall over there, I am the Real Masked Gentleman, you saw my first Dark Miracle that was me, then A fake stole my identity, but now I'm back.
I never played a Professor Layton game before this and honestly I only got this game for the Ace Attorney segments (big Ace Attorney fan that felt jibbed over the AA5 being digital only). But after playing the game I really came to love Layton. He's almost a polar opposite to most of the Ace Attorney characters. He's polite, upstanding, calm and intelligent. Edgeworth may be intelligent, but he can be rude and loses his cool constantly against Wright. This game portrayed the two sides rather well. Especially the horrifying thought of "What would happen if Layton was to be a prosecutor?" This game shows us one thing - he is more dangerous than Edgeworth ever was.
***** Though as a gentleman Layton is far better than Edgeworth at staying calm and focusing on the facts. This of course, renders him less quirky leading to fewer funny scenes, but also lets you focus on the serious situation at hand.
I'll always be amazed at the very calm demeanor and his sharp intellects of Hershel Layton's characteristics. He can be even more superior than Miles Edgeworth.
It amuses me deeply that this theme is every bit as badass as Phoenix's Objection theme, while still being the classiest thing ever. It's so perfect for Layton. -Still not over the fact that Layton is based on Wright I mean just what-.
Angelique Deaderick I genuinely can't tell if you're irritated with me for pointing out that Layton is based on Phoenix only more Zen (which he is, and Phoenix himself is based on Perry Mason), or irritated at me for inadvertently implying Phoenix and his games suck compared to Layton (which I don't believe in the slightest; I adore them both equally), or if you're even irritated at all and actually just amused or what. All I know is I'm genuinely nervous about replying to you in case you get mad at me, and if I wasn't nervous about that I'd cry "objection!" and point out that your two statements feel contradictory to each other, since the first implies you're unhappy that I pointed out Layton is based on Phoenix, and the second implied you think I made a slight at Phoenix. Unless the second line's use of 'evil' actually refers to "someone pointing out in great detail" what I said. Either way I'm still unsure and I'm sorry if I upset you.
Ellie F. Im not mad or anything, I won't get mad. It is actaully interesting for other people to tell me their opinions. I also am a fan of Ace Attorney, it's about number two to me, and Layton games. It is actaully fun to hear why people think Wright or Layton is better, I was actaully happy that someone pointed out that BOTH characters were based off someone. For that, I am grateful for, thanks for posting that!
Layton is not based on Phoenix Wright the professor is a puzzle solving gentlemen & Phoenix is a lawyer that doesn't work well under presser "sorry if spelled it wrong" not to mention Phoenix is american & Layton is british

_SPOILERS FOR THE NEAR END OF THE GAME_ Wright: Professor... But... What are you doing? Layton: What am I doing, Mr. Wright? Maya: Yeah! You were supposed to come in with some decisive evidence and save the day, professor! Layton: I'm afraid my only concern here is the truth. Wright: The truth? Layton: The truth behind the real identity of the Great Witch: Espella Cantabella. If seeking the truth requires us to stand on opposite sides of the courtroom, then so be it. I expect you to defend Miss Cantabella with everything you've got, Mr. Wright!
Just a random.thought of the sequel game Phoenix wright decided to give apollo justice a test and brought him into labrynthia and to searc for someone with the name professor layton along with trucy of course Then just some trials and till the last trial where professor layton will take the place of the defense fighting against barnham and then apollo was investigating and found out something(maybe something about the trial) and he decided to stand along with barnham just when he was about to lose and in the end phoenix wright also came and stand at defense bench and lastly apollo justice and phoenix wright will fight in a court And lastly the game will be called phoenix wright apollo justice showdown this game will probably be more focus on professor layton and apollo justice and having professor layton and luke tackle a trial by themselves will be great
***** I literally laughed out loud when I saw the next Ace Attorney game was going to be Phoenix's ancestor travelling to London and teaming up with Sherlock Holmes. I'm not sure how great of an Ace Attorney game that would make, but it would certainly be a spiritual sequel to this game.
This music is so remarkable through whole this game.I never played one Layton series and only started this game cuz I'm an AA fan. But Prof. Layton is so great! He is polite, calm, brave, and intelligent. I was surprised when I saw he could even fight as a skilled fencer.Oh, man..
Hearing the original Professor Layton Theme "remodified" into a more pleasant and better version like the violin playing here totally had me listening all day xd Same for the phoenix wright Objection theme. This is pretty much a cool game to me :3
So, having played this game *after* the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, I just realized that Layton essentially fulfills the same role as Herlock Sholmes did in those games; the role of becoming my new favourite character by being more intelligent than everyone else surrounding him, that is.
I'm just gonna drop these Lyrics here. Start singing at 0:24 Breaking through that which cannot be seen The wall of doubt that stands before me Is not enough to stop me now Fear and pain, I will wipe it all away The puzzled thoughts I can not convey I'll solve them come what may Mysteries, and hidden meanings Things gone unseen, things right in front of me Unveil all of the fiction, find the solution for every riddle I find Trust me for I am a man of my word Archaeology is my true specialty Breaking through that which cannot be seen The wall of doubt that stands before me Is not enough to stop me now Puzzles left unsolved until when He comes along, the people call him The great Gentleman!
Decade update. This goes unsurprisingly hard. While the 3ds eshop went down, I can safely say that I would’ve enjoyed this game, if I had the chance to play it. Anything like a sexual would be great, especially since Layton is starting to come back into the light!
50 Picarats to whomever can solve this riddle. So two fathers and two sons go out hunting. Each of them shoot a duck, but only 3 ducks were shot. How is this possible?
60 Picarats for this one. A murder has occured, and there were five witnesses. The police showed up extremely quickly, so none of the witnesses were able to leave the crime scene. Listen to each testimony and figure out who the true culprit is! Note that the culprit will try to lie their way out of being caught. Witness A: When I got here, B and C were already here. B's shoes were stained with blood. Witness B: I arrived at the crime scene with C, but since the road was icy, I slid a bit. Witness C: D got here a short while after A, but fainted soon after. Witness D: E was the first to the crime scene, so I think it is most likely E is the culprit. Witness E: I didn't get a good look at the body, so I don't know what the cause of death was. The police said it was multiple stabs to the heart. Other info: The police have not given out any information about the crime, even to the witnesses. The temperature is 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The witnesses each arrived in pairs, while the last witness arrived alone.
Or, try this one for 40 Picarats. Three fishermen go fishing. They catch X number of fish. The fishermen fall asleep before being able to count the fish. Each person is entitled to 1/3 of the fish. The first fisherman wakes up. He counts the fish, and takes his share. There is one fish leftover, so he throws it back into the river and leaves with his share. The second fisherman wakes up. Like the first, he takes his share, throws one into the river, and leaves. The second fisherman has not noticed that the first has already taken his share and left. The third does likewise, and doesn't notice that the other two have taken their share and left. Knowing this, what is the minimum number of fish the three fisherman could have caught altogether?
70 Piracats. A man goes a party and drinks some of the punch. Said man leaves early. Everybody else who drank the punch subsequently dies of poison. How did the man live? Since there's no hint coins use 5 Piracats to unlock three hints. Use 10 to unlock my super hint.
Layton: "Have a look!" Me: (eye twitches) Really? That's it? I can understand Simon's "Silence!" and Layn's "Not so fast!" But "Have a look!"? Was I the only one not the tiniest bit upset about this? Just a teeny bit? You know what, maybe if I stare at my screen long enough, it'll stop. (Starts staring at screen intensly)
i'm in love with this, ans even i'm pretty bad at puzzles, this game made me want to play layton games but i don't know which one should i buy >< can someone help me ? (i already have the strange village)
You could either get yourself Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box which would be the second title on the market or Professor Layton and the last spectre which is chronologically the first game that covers the story, but it is most likely that you´d have to buy the Diabolical Box on an internet shop :/
Yeah it's hard to say. the main trilogy (curious village, pandoras box and lost future) doesn't really link together too well apart from the returning characters but plot wise it's not necessary to play them in order. However the prequel trilogy I would definitely play in order. (Specters call, mask of miracle, azran legacy. Also note this are the European names, I don't know what they are elsewhere.)
*OBJECTION!* They will most likely not due to the fact of Layton being involved; they try to avoid execution and murder and what not. On top of that, completely unrelated games. One involves Puzzle focus. Another focuses on evidence. And the other focuses on killing off people with ironic deaths. This fantasy will *never* come to fruition.
TheLilchristopher I see... well in my opinion it was positively brilliant, and I would love to see a Makoto vs Apollo Justice moment. Wright would look on in bewilderment as Justice can literally see Makoto loading truth bullets~
I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I'm just saying there is no way. Just somethings we need to be realistic with. Like... It took millions with the translation team. The "Inquisitor" has so many names it is crazy. I'm nervous trying to imagine the other name translations.
+Crazyspadger360 Now I'm trying to imagine Layton with a Keyblade. I almost asked 'how would he fence with that' before remembering that this is Professor Layton we're talking about. He would.
+Sheila the Intern I was thinking more of Sora fighting the shades with Layton. Layton would still have a stick and Sora would still have a keyblade. but I would love to see Layton with his own keyblade
That's because Phoenix is a much more relatable character, whereas Layton is more of a character to aspire to, being calm and patient. Also, you never hear Layton's thoughts, unless he is explaining something to another character, while Phoenix talks to himself all the time.
EpicLuigi24 They're both the same guy in a way. But solve and act in complete opposite's. One solves the case through rash and courageous feats of energy and shrewdness. The other solves cases through a calm and patient mind (as you said), in a way; if you exclude their opposite personalities they're pretty much the same people, both with assistant's who solve crimes solving puzzles. I only hope that if there was ever a sequel to the crossover game (I doubt it), but if there was; I hope they add the Rhythm Thief as an unexpected and unannounced anti-villain. He fit's right in with the two puzzle solvers, but through music and beat instead. Although I wouldn't like him to be a main focus and merely an assistant or cameo briefly. It would be nice. Probably never happen but who knows. (Correct me if i'm wrong) But I believe Layton lives in England and Ace Attorney America/Japan? So Rhythm Thief being in France would make sense of a cameo. Also being a thief he can be mistaken for a villain. But I digress, maybe I'm just hoping for something of my dreams. The fact we got the crossover game is a feat in of itself! So for now, I will be happy with the game and take a moment to relax and Objection! Anyone that refuses ^^
***** I would say that in terms of them "joining forces", Layton is the more logical man with a superb sense of detective work and solving bizarre puzzles. Phoenix uses Layton's evidence and uses his normal courtroom strategies to prevent guilty verdicts while creating case breaking logical conclusions. Well... I was hoping that would be how the game went. In the end, Phoenix really didn't need to be there since Layton can do fine on his own.
Chyunman 98 lawl. And now phoenix is teaming up with sherlock holmes? Seriously? Layton is the sherlock holmes of the ace attorney times but they'd rather have the original? Eh.. I'd rather have a sequel games that fixes and improves any faults rather than a "what if ace attorney" game.
I jut thought of an Idea for a swet crossover Game, Proffessor, Layton vs Mario, vs Sonic, vs Link vs Kirby, sort of a 4 way crossover. to be Honest we could only involve the first 3 but if we added the other games as well this would be verry enteresting. I imagine we could use Paper Mario in sorts and the charecters could move around together like an RPG, pROFFESOR lAYTON COULD SOLVE pUZZLES. old Mario levels could be made into Puzzels and Sonic could run in races. if we add maybe toon Link then we have a Sword guy and throw in Kirby just because he blends well that and we get Kig Deedeedeedee puzzels and battles, and Link vs Meta Knight outside of Smash bros. and we could have Tails join Luka and the Professer in battle of the Wits against Puzzel villians like Eggman. eggman bosses could also be involved as Puzzels. think about. ^^
you make a good point. they kould even have Layton's theme ^^ like invole some or one one of his many puzzels as battle ground ^^ that would bepretty sweet. ^^
What kinda upsets me is that they have not used him on a fighting game yet at all. He can actually fight (unlike a certain spiky haired lawyer) with a sword, and can build stuff. I mean it when I say this, his supers would involve the coin machine gun(or was it hint coins out of ammuntion?), that glider from Azran Legacy, and Luke or Emmy doing something, or both of them. Like Luke calling all these animals to stampede or Emmy doing some fighting. The battleground? London when Clive's gaint robot was attacking London! Get it done Level 5! When the new UM vs C 4, if it ever, comes out, I have a theory. I predict a certain red suit wearing lawyer teaming up with a magicain, or a certain yellow suited lawyer teaming up with a samuri, either one works.
Professor Layton. Because politeness never looked so badass.
Not politeness, GENTLEMANLINESS.
Professor Layton 13, 14, 15, 16, A Fake Randall Lost, but I return.
Professor Layton What me or Randall over there, I am the Real Masked Gentleman, you saw my first Dark Miracle that was me, then A fake stole my identity, but now I'm back.
Professor Layton Well how bout a puzzle dear fake has gotten tied up in the London Tower, along with your brother save one and the other dies, simple.
Professor Layton Well Layton say bye to Descole or dear Randall either one could well perish.

***** Cannae agree on that last statement, lad.
Nothing is better than Edgeworth.
NOTHING.
Urasitti But he isn't. Because nothing is better than Edgeworth. Especially Mr. Spoon-Feeds-All-The-Answers McGee over here.
***** Also because Layton, no matter how much a gentleman he is, can never stand Oldbag.
It amuses me deeply that this theme is every bit as badass as Phoenix's Objection theme, while still being the classiest thing ever. It's so perfect for Layton.
-Still not over the fact that Layton is based on Wright I mean just what-.
I have so.much to say about that comment even though it may be true. I will hold it in though for someone who is being evil about it.

Later I had him present the wrong evidence .
I was like : hey , Layton ? Is presenting wrong evidence part of searching for the truth ?
Proffessor layton and phoenix wright are two of my favorite videogame badasses. They both can fight and solve crimes.
Pheonix never really fought, but Layton did fight a real person in his animated movie before!
Yusef Sherif you say phoenix never fight but i'm guesting you didn't play umvc3.
That doesnt count. I know that game and its not part of the ace attorney series you kidding me?
+Andre Sharper-clark LOL
+Melondon Crafterman Well, Wright is tough enough to stand to eagle river, so I'm not surprised that he is also tough enough to survive UMvsC3.
1.25 speed sounds like it could be a cornered version for Layton. Or it could play at the last seconds of a timed puzzle.
Well my boy...

Breaking through that which cannot be seen
The wall of doubt that stands before me
Is not enough to stop me now
Fear and pain, I will wipe it all away
The puzzled thoughts I can not convey
I'll solve them come what may
Mysteries, and hidden meanings
Things gone unseen, things right in front of me
Unveil all of the fiction, find the solution for every riddle I find
Trust me for I am a man of my word
Archaeology is my true specialty
Breaking through that which cannot be seen
The wall of doubt that stands before me
Is not enough to stop me now
Puzzles left unsolved until when
He comes along, the people call him
The great Gentleman!

All you said was true! :)
I prefer this one over the original idk why
If I met a genie my wish MAKE IT BE TRANSLATED AND COME TO AMERICA

You know what would be better? LAYTON IS SUPER SMASH BROS!!! I mean, Phoenix is in Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom, so why not?
you make a good point. they kould even have Layton's theme ^^ like invole some or one one of his many puzzels as battle ground ^^ that would bepretty sweet.
I predict a certain red suit wearing lawyer teaming up with a magicain, or a certain yellow suited lawyer teaming up with a samuri, either one works.
maybe
Hehe, sometimes stereotypes can only be funny, no matter how racistic they are xD
