    Bojan's WSJ piece: www.wsj.com/wo...
UnHerd's Freddie Sayers meets Bojan Pancevski, to discuss who really blew up the Nord Stream pipeline
Watch it on the UnHerd website:
    Listen to the podcast: plnk.to/unherd...
It has been the most contested and mysterious event in the Russia-Ukraine war. Who was responsible for sabotaging the Nord Stream pipelines that connected Germany to Russia? The Russians? The CIA? Or Ukraine itself?
Bojan Pancevski has had access to the plotters themselves and tells Freddie Sayers an extraordinary story of extra-state actors, deep sea divers, bombs and sailing boats that sounds more like the plot of a movie than real life. Except, according to this prize-winning investigative reporter, it's all too real...

Let us run some numbers .
When the explosions happened the seismometers recorded an explosion equivalent to 500 kg of TNT.
I assume the intent was to blow the 4 ducts, so 2,000 kg of TNT or equivalent are required.
Handling that amount of explosive at a depth of 40 to 80 meters requires a team of expert divers who are also experts in explosives and who will operate in complete darknes remaining underwater for 2 to 3 hours while they put the explosives in place and place the timmers.
Assuming it was done by one ukranian team:
    1) Someone smuggled 2 tons of explosives across the Ukranian-Polish border or bought 2 tons of explosives in poland
    2) Someone got a hand on 40 o2 tanks : 4 divers will require 2 tanks of oxygen per duct, plus some spare tanks 2 x 4 x 4 = 32 oxygen tanks , plus spares = 40.
    3) After each inmersion the teams must rest 12 hours before performing another inmersion. 12 x 4 = 48 hours + 12 hours of inmersion = 60 hours.
    4) Getting the exact location of the pipes requires a sonar.
So a yatch was wandering around critical infrastructure loaded with two tons of explosives (smuggled or bought in the black market) for three days and no one noticed? Plausible, but hard to believe.

So you would have to have hundreds of meters of steel cables to withstand the sea drag and attach them to the sea bed and to a boat that would probably had to be anchored really tight as well, so the team could then place the explosives in the exact place of where the pipelines are. The USA military would not have to be necessarily involved in it but some rogue group in Nato would have.

Norway have a long tradtion of supporting the US since ww2, from the time of the UN , with a Norwegian General Secretary, pushed trough the support of one side in the civil war in Korea, (that was possible since the Sovjets boycotted the security council, and did not place veto against the action) that escalated the Korean war and lead to 2.5 million deaths. So, definitely Ukraine was the very much interested party in the blow up act. So to speak ("Law & Order"), "had a motive". Did it have "the means and opportunity" - still need to be proved. As It is known the divers that Germany accused in the blowing up did have experience to dive for 30 meters, and pipeline is 80 meters deep. So extra equipment would be needed. That is why Seymour M. Bravo Freddie - you asked the right questions! And poor mr. Pancevski is not able to answer important topics in a convincing way. The journalist Seymour Hersh made a much better job on this subject and explained a lot, much beter.

I cannot say who did the job, but one apparent inconsistency (unless I misheard a lot of the interview) seems clear.
The guest said two military men and two (civilian) deep sea divers did the job.
Did he not also say that the divers worked in pairs, one pair going down one day/session, and another pair one the next? If so, then where did the second pair of divers come from?
This apparent inconsistency alone causes more than doubt.
Perhaps I misheard, as I was listening while doing work.

The US and some NATO allies conducted submersible warfare exercises involving teams of divers in the area of the pipeline explosions a few months before they were blown up. I would suggest that the explosives were laid during that event and later detonated electronically. This Naval exercise was reported at the time but nobody has mentioned them since. The US was deeply opposed to the Nordstream project from the outset. The reasons for their opposition are interesting and make them the primary culprits, but once again the mainstream media are silent on the subject.

If freelance public private partnerships could carry out highest order geopolitical strikes without US approval, it wouldn't say much for US authority or competence.
What he's saying is such an obvious load of smoke and mirrors, I'd include it as evidence of US authorization for the strike.

I think Freddie sounded consistently skeptical. This narrative seems pretty thin to me, and Freddie reacts as if it sounds pretty thin to him, too, but he lets the guest have his say.

Fascinating story! Maybe in a parallel universe this scenario really took place. Who’s to know? I still subscribe to the Seymour Hirsch version of events but I found this journalist that I wasn’t familiar with very intriguing and thought-provoking. I maintain an open mind. I didn’t ever think the Ukraine had the skill and technology to carry out the world’s largest act of eco-terrorism. But what do I know?
    That’s a rhetorical question because I don’t know shit 💩.
Maybe one day we’ll get to the bottom of this real world, “Who Dunnit?” suspenseful criminal mystery story.
This journalist raised some good points IMHO.
Thanks for covering this crime caper, Unheard! Great discussion!
I didn’t previously know that Freddie was a Swede but great British accent nevertheless! lol 😊

Dear @Freddie Sayers I have from someone who could do it, that diving to the depths around 80 meters is possible today as a specialised diver using a mix of gasses, but there is one specific technicality that I cannot verify, which is the amount of explosives and drilling equipment etc. required.
Some say 2 tons would be needed, others have said as little as 10 kg, which kind of makes or breaks the sailboat story.
