Bf2 was the best game and it was played by the best bf players. Imagine a full 64 player match populated by sweaty, tryhard, hardcore players where everyone was doing their job and following orders. Absolutley epic battles and firefights! You were lucky to break the line and get to an enemy flag. Those days are over

@@ToEriksson L96A1 was decent indeed. Whoever decided to design the iron sight like that (the needle) should be executed on the spot though. G36C had horrible hit detection but to this day it remains my favorite weapon of the game.
That's something I hope we get back in later maps for the game, or just in the next game down the line. I think I can sort of see why they did it for BFV but in my opinion it wasn't worth losing that bit of identity from the earlier parts of the series.
1st time i played Wake Island was BF2. I was still like 6-10 (yeah i started gaming pretty early. Thanks dad) and it was my favorite map besides Karkand. I loved driving a boat from the US side around the island. I feel it was at its Peak in BF3 thanks to destructible areas. And I think I'll get BFV now that Wake is back
It playes very well on conquest, however the vehicle balance in Breahthrough is completely out of wack. Despite the negs around the game I'd recommend you get it.
@@justgold4113 still wish the Japanese would have carriers too, instead of having no spawn. I would recommend bf1 though. There's a lot of bugs with BFVs progression. Awhile ago, none of my weapons were being unlocked, and right now, a few cosmetics aren't unlocking. Definitely not as polished as BF1.
I still remember when I first launched BF1942 and watched the intro. The Shermans rolling in the desert, the theme song playing in the background, I had shivers down my spine. Then I played a game and realised I could drive a destroyer around the sea to blast people off the beaches or just run around shooting the BAR, I have never been more excited and happy about a game than in that very moment. Battlefield nowadays just don't feel like that anymore. That "Woah you mean I could do anything???" excitement. Boy I miss the Battlefields from 1942 to 2142. Those for me were the "real" Battlefields.
Wasn't the F-35 the plane that kept trying to hover every time you slowed down? That plane was annoying in dogfights :p Much preferred the normal planes.
For 1943 you could just to the go to the tutorial which takes place on wake island and use that. You basically have free roam to the entire island and all the vehicles, spawns and flags.
Battlefield 2 Wake Island so many good memories just seeing the clips is scary to think how long ago that was I remember how everyone would rush to the helicopter to get a seat to the Island and of course sniping players on the airbase on the Island who tried to get into the jet good times.

There was one LAN center in town everyone went too, and BF2 was what most of the kids played while the owners who were older played 1942. But once the normal customers left around 9pm, the owners would set everything up on one server and everybody would all hop into a wake island LAN and just go nuts. Free energy drinks and had a whataburger one block down that stayed open all night. So many good memories.
battlefield vietnam (not the bc2 dlc, the game after bf:1942) chopper lifting supplies to the front lines, lifting tanks and boats around the map, loading the dingy into the chinook for a shore assault (chinook could land on the water, dingy drive in/out of it) and the vehicle radio that you would hear as a vehicle was approaching. that game had great features that i've missed in the BF series since. BF2 was my second fav though

Hi Jack, as a Mac user, Battlefield 2142 was playable on my computer and was my first Battlefield experience. I rarely hear anyone but you speak of it. Nice retrospective.
I miss 2142, it was pretty great. Also, I think I forgot how aggressive the blue filter was in BF3, but it really shows in this comparison between all the variants of the map.

You forgot the references to the 1942 version in Battlefield 2. You can find downed Japanese Zero Planes around the map as a throwback to the original.
We logged so many hours on battlefield Vietnam on pc, in 2005 in Iraq. I miss that game. Snipes were satisfying, i was introduced to trolling (thanks Hayward!) and the flying was the legit, for the first time ever. Feck yeah! Napalm was something to be afraid of.
I've spend so many ours in BF2.. first time I joined clanmatches and ranked leagues. I've met some awesome (American) people playing that game which I now still have contact with and visited in the states (I'm from Europe)

Battlefield 1942 totally blew me away! The grade of freedom, all the Planes and Tanks, the huge Maps... It was so awesome! And the Desert Combat happened! Man, that was Fun und the LAN Partys!

Or playing on the Wake server like 15 times in a row.., just to warm up😂 Then the mod Dessert Combat presented the modern kind of warfare, and evolved into BF 2..., and the fun ended a bit for me. But what really killed the genre for me, was all the cheaters and all the new gaming standarts.., like the more you play, the better equipment you get... The beauty of BF 1942 was the simple gameplay and the lack of options(!) It all came down to skills and tactics❤️
Every time the BF3 music theme gets me off, im getting goose bumps and want to fall back in the time when thise game was new and i started grinding with my friends :3

Battlefield 2 was the greatest game ever. The only issue in BF2 was the aim stability for the crosshair elsewhere 6/6 stars.

The Wake Island map was added later in 2142. We need to go back to that era, would be such a great change.

Seeing BF3 makes me so sad. That was my favorite time with the franchise.
Definitely spent the most time in BF3. Though BF 1943 feels like the most refined quintessential BF experience to me.
I wonder if they'll ever be that good again. 4 was still solid, but nothing afterwards has been able to capture that magic for me.

There's an HD remaster mod for BF1942. Render distance and fog doubled, textures are 4K and it's really worth looking at.
SPi On PC or XBox One? BF1942 is the greatest game ever made. I wish they would remake more maps

Bfv is my first wake island map. Its feels the most battlefield like map in bfv with the added jeeps and boats and the size of the map.
