some people call a 6x31 a mistake and a waste. others call it a peace of mind when looking at the stats and seeing it all match. and thats what it really all comes down too. if throwing the extra mil down to feel nice when you pull up the stat block is what you want to do for your party. then do it. the $$$$ isn't that hard to come across. and as you keep breeding up powerful guys. the money runs get easier.
Also note, having 31 attack on a special attacker who don't use any physical moves is actually detrimental (in competitive) because foul play does more damage the higher your attack.

This video is what made the breeding system make sense to me honestly. The odds are so risky to breed a perfect machine that it makes sense why 31s are as rare as they are
Lesson to anyone looking to start breeding for profit, the profit in this breed was lost on the purchase of the 3x31. Kind of shows where breeding can go wrong. to breed your own 3x31 from scratch would cost about 75-80k whereas you paid 120k, which if done from scratch would've lowered the total cost of the breed to 430k ish leaving 70k profit. It's the big tradeoff between breeding all the way from 1x31s up to the 5x31+nature. buying anything off the GTL that's more than 2x31 is probably at a significant premium and really eats into profits. Note though, that sewaddle was actually pretty close to the cost of breeding from scratch. Really surprised it was so reasonably priced.
Wasted like 5 hours yesterday with trying to breed a good pidgey for my kanto storyrun cuz I had like no knowledge about breeding and just did a bit of trial and error and sacrificed like 5 2x31 iv pidgeys and got so many useless pidgeys out of it 😂 This video helped me really a lot. I just got a close to all 31 ivs pidgey 163/186 thanks to u and I'm so excited to use it now
You could also start breeding a dual egg-group poke like field/monster (whismur) or field/human-like (spinda) and if you get either jolly/adamant/naughty you can then sell it since a good % of OU are field/monster/humanoid

12:14 OR alternately you can mouse over the abilities of the Pokémon you are trying to perfect... If it says "Special" then guess what, you need Sp Atk. if it says "Physical" then its just Attack. Examples - Garchomp, Gabite, Gible. - Earthquake Ground Physical - Attack stat it used. Earth Power Ground Special - Sp Atk is used. Theres plenty of guides about this online.
Im making a 6x31 Magikarp without purchasing a single pokemon, all of them will be caught from Safari Zone in Kanto. Honestly shocked at how easy it is and the amount of money you can save!

since tauros is male only u have to breed with ditto, which is why its ABSURDLY DISGUSTINGLY expensive and never worth it. just got 2x31 + 25+ in relevant stats + natured.
You can breed genderless with the same species or ditto, so usually it involves making multiple 3x or 4x 31 of the same species and breeding them together and hoping for nature roll. Best of luck!

So.. I've been trying to breed pokemon for a Sinnoh run through for egg moves + nature and it has been so much more expensive than I thought. Is there a point to doing all of that for a playthrough? Is it better to just ignore nature and go for better IVs, or better nature and ignore IVs?

usually it’s around the same price but u save time to buy 2x31s, making ur own 3x31s can save big money tho. But this is all ofcourse dependent on the current listings and what species your breeding :)

Depends on the pokemon, a lot you just end up releasing, but some pokemon have a good base price for their species or egg groups. My general rule of thumb is that if it sells for less than 2k i wouldn't bother listing it on the GTL, just release.

1x31 IV pokemon are around a 1/6 rate in the wild so ye u can catch them quite commonly and sell/breed for profit. Hopefully this answers what you were asking, let me know if not!

Hi patrouski, so i just breed a squirtle which came out with a rash nature. How can i breed it adding another to make it 2x31 and without changing the nature since the squirtle can only have 1 item held. Cuz i need everstone as well as the brace for the iv to stay. Edit: My squirtle has 31 sp atk iv with rash nature. I want to breed it with a 31 spd iv pokemon. How can i breed if i want to keep the rash nature and 31 sp atk iv and also have 31 spd iv?
Due to the breeding system, an active economy and simple supply and demand, as long as you are price checking things accurately, it should sell. There is a strong consistency with the economy for sure, its hard to explain but i hope this sums it up! I sell about 90% of what i list, and usually the other 10% is like 9% human error and me listing poorly + 1% the market changing to quickly (alphas for example dropped drastically for a long time) or really niche sales which may just take a while to get the right eyes on it even if its priced correctly.

The braces dont give your pokemon any IV, they simply pass an IV down to the kid. So if you have a 15 atk pokemon and put the atk bracelet onto it the kid will also have 15 atk. Thats why you have to use a parent with 31 to pass the 31 down.
@patrouski hmmm, but if I finish my breed and then roll for the nature I need to get an almost complete bred mon to roll that nature several times, isn't that more expensive than paying for a higher iv mon?

I dont think I ever spent a million. usually I spend around 300k for a 5x31 Pokemon. I catch the Pokemon to breed it tho

generally salamence values attack+speed but it can go mixed with sp.atk to slot in fire blast, ice beam, hurricane, draco meteor, etc.

I have a 3x31 Taurus with good nature. you just have to buy a 2x31 ditto and breed it after you've made a 2x31 Taurus with 1x31 ditto

Hi patrouski, so i just breed a squirtle which came out with a rash nature. How can i breed it adding another to make it 2x31 and without changing the nature since the squirtle can only have 1 item held. Cuz i need everstone as well as the brace for the iv to stay.
Edit: My squirtle has 31 sp atk iv with rash nature. I want to breed it with a 31 spd iv pokemon. How can i breed if i want to keep the rash nature and 31 sp atk iv and also have 31 spd iv?
The main lesson i learnt from this guide is I can't afford to do this I'm too broke 😂

Due to the breeding system, an active economy and simple supply and demand, as long as you are price checking things accurately, it should sell. There is a strong consistency with the economy for sure, its hard to explain but i hope this sums it up! I sell about 90% of what i list, and usually the other 10% is like 9% human error and me listing poorly + 1% the market changing to quickly (alphas for example dropped drastically for a long time) or really niche sales which may just take a while to get the right eyes on it even if its priced correctly.

Sticking to the most desired mons are always good, the top 10 pokemon in each pvp tier, typhlosions for pvm, smeargle & breloom for utilities mons

the braces doesn't give my pokemons 31 IV il try that today does it not work in that update or i miss s.th
The braces dont give your pokemon any IV, they simply pass an IV down to the kid.
So if you have a 15 atk pokemon and put the atk bracelet onto it the kid will also have 15 atk.
Thats why you have to use a parent with 31 to pass the 31 down.
I can only imagine doing this with shiny pokemon x_x

11:35 rule of thumb for IV stats. You want high IV one the attack stat which your pokemon naturally has a high base stat in.

No because then u have to pay up for a higher iv mon EVERY breed since u have to use an everstone on one mon and u cant double brace

New player... caught two 31 so far (a zubat and a Geodude.) It appear I am going to be in alot of pain.
Update my attempt to breed Ralt with 3-IV 31 was destroyed because the fucking lonely nature... 100k cannot heal the massive effort I took
