Gomukh me jo aap patthar Chattan samajh rahein hai woh Gangotri glacier hain , pura baraf hi baraf , upar se mud nd patthar se dhaki hui , …….. har glaciar itne purane hote hain ki blackish lagte hain upar me mud nd patthar ko “”Moren “” kaha jata hain……jitna purana glacier utni jyada moren hota hain. Glacier bohot khatarnak hote hain kiunki uske andar “ Craves” means glacier me bari bari dararen hote hain jo kuch bhi nigal lete hain .

Thank you for answering. Well authorities don't give permit without Guide for Tapovan, but in my case I took the permit for Gaumukh only and complete the trek of 3 days in 2 days.
Thanks for letting me see the route again but it is a bit different. I trekked to Tapovan with the help of a Guide boy of Uttarkashi in the year 1983 probably. Started fr Gangotri around 6 am morning, reached Tapovan by 2.30 pm afternoon sane day. I went barefoot by God's Grace only. I walked over glaciers too but no trolley system then. Saw one Sadhu falling down n got injured, rescue going on then but we proceeded. We came back just after one hour n reached Lalbaba Ashram, rested that night...morning back to Gangotri. Land slides were frequent...but journey interesting, no fatigue took help of Jangli tulsi while climbing up. Coming down no problem. Next day route closed ... Saw people in tents near Gaumukh, no permission then, free to go...Time changed...but very different now. Thanks for posting it. I will connect to FB.

Tapovan and Gaumukh are sacred places where saints and yogis have lived and are still living at places unknown to us. These are high intensity spiritual places. These places are not tracks for fun and just for views. Ofcourse we can add them but as secondary things. Primarily these are the places to connect oneself with divine, for meditation, for spiritual talks and their sacred history. Fun and great views were there but such respect and information for this sacred place was missing. Hope you will think about this. 😊

Well the trek is well maintained till bhojbasa as you can see in the video. You can stay at Bhojbasa (Ashrams and Tents are available). Going further just follow like in video. Cross the river and take left and keep moving, you will see the trek as long as you moving. If you stuck then you can ask follow trekkers. If you want to stay at Tapovan as well then you need to bring your own Tent along with you.
If you want to go to Gaumukh then it's not mandatory, but for Tapovan you need to have a guide along with you. It took 3 days to complete the trek, but I did it in 2 days.

It's mentioned on the rock in waterfall which I crossed in video. And yes, that huge chunk of ice is Gaumukh Glacier and Ganga originating from there. Yeah it was funny because I was so much happy when I was about to reach the destination and because of that I said HOT instead of COLD when I took the water at my palm. 😁🙏

For permit online website not working so you need to visit DFO office in Uttarkashi. You don't need Guide if you are going to Gaumukh only. But you required Guide if you are going to Tapovan. But I didn't get any Guide when I went to Tapovan, so I don't have any Guide contact. The permit cost is 150. For more you can contact any hotel in Gangotri. Hope this information is helpful.

What is the cost of staying in bhojwasa
It's free if you stay in Ram Baba or Lal Baba Ashram. But you can take tent as well and it will cost you from 1K to 1.5K approx.
