I was thinking this when the girl was like “YOU keep it” to the guy next to her. Also the elderly people, not that they shouldn’t have kittens but who will care for their pets when they are gone😢
My sister and my aunt blindfolded me for my birthday and said we were going somewhere special,and they drove me to the Humane Society. Then they took off the blindfold and said they would pay for the adoption, and all the supplies for me to pick out whatever kitten I wanted. I cried with happiness!

@@Dantaszica Yes, the fee covers the surgery to spade/neuter and the adoption fee helps to support the Humane Society in my area. If she had been fixed beforehand, the adoption fee would have been less. Our government in our state/city does not offer very much monetary help. If the place was an ASPCA they would get national help. But they are just the local Humane society. But I found my true Angel there.😍

18 years ago on Christmas morning I was given a box and told to open it immediately, out popped 2 little kitties, sisters from the same liter. I had just lost 2 cats that year. One of the girls passed a few months ago and her sister is still with me, 18 years old and going strong 💞😻

Just rescued a kitten in a parking lot tonight, so I kinda already know what my best present this year is!
As nice as it seems, gifting a kitten, puppy, or any animal can have a really bad outcome. Make sure that the recipient really does want a new critter and that they are equipped and capable of properly caring for it.
If giving a cat, good idea to also include a starter kit (litter, litter box, a weeks supply of food). For a dog, a collar, lead, and food.
Too many gift animals end up in shelters.
Or abandoned outside. I agree, animals should not be given as a gift.
@@Ronin.Samurai Not as a surprise gift, that's for certain. My cousins planned on "replacing" my elderly aunt's deceased poodle with another. I knew her better than they did (they saw her once a year) and told my aunt. She was furious. Just blew up! I made sure I was the one who talked to the cousins, gently. A disaster averted.
I have to agree here. Give the gift of taking someone to an animal shelter and let THEM choose who vibes best with them. Older cats are even more in need.
It is wrong to give a pet as a present, particularly a surprise gift. The recipient may not be equipped or have the knowledge or even the desire to have a pet. No good will come of it for the animal.
It is not a commodity but a sentient being and has needs.

Our most sacred memory of cats was when our female cat insisted that we participate in the birth of her first litter of kittens. She wouldn’t settle until my Wife and I were there to help, and help her we did. She ended up having 3 litters and we helped her with all of them. We were totally involved in the everyday care of the kittens, at her insistence. The hardest part was allowing the kittens to go to their new homes, it was heartbreaking because most of the kittens found their way onto our bed during the night and slept with us. Cats will save your life.
This will have to happen to my litters too, it makes me super sad

It wasn't a gift, but I was so surprised one day to see my mom bring a kitten into the livingroom.
It belonged to my grandparents and somehow hitched a ride on Grandpa's car to our yard. Thought to keep an eye on it until he returned.
We instantly fell in love, later asking if we could keep it. He was such a good kitty. Lived with us for 10 years.
My mom surprised me for my 16th birthday with this kitten I had wanted so badly, an all white turkish angora with one blue eye and one green. My beloved Misha. I had her for 16 years (half my life when I lost her) getting her was one of the happiest moments of my life and losing her was one of the hardest. She was with me through everything, I was never alone, a piece of my identity was "Kate and Misha"
I have been gifted by fate, another pair of babies to look after now, a stray mama cat gave birth on my fiancé's door step and now I have an adorable brother and sister pair. (The rest of the litter and mama cat were found good loving homes who are friends of ours who love cats, so mama struck gold picking our doorstep lol)

Pets can make the best gifts. My kids gave me a kitten for my birthday. For 20 years he was so closely bonded to me, slept in my pillow opposite my husband, was in my lap any time i didn't have a kid in my lap. It's been one of my best presents
What's better than getting a kitten? Getting two kittens! We have loved our kittens for 13.5 years. They are senior citizen gentlemen now, but we love them just the same.

This is the best feel good video I've found today. Not that I feel bad which I don't as I adopted a nine month old black kitty two months ago and he's fitting in fine.
What's so satisfying is knowing these kitties have great homes and will be loved. Some are couples which are likely siblings that needed to be adopted together.

I love my fur babies. I have two, Keanu and Kithicore. One is a rag doll/tuxedo mix and the other a tonk. I love them with all my heart. I had another rag doll/tuxedo mix, his name was Caesar, but he sadly passed from old age/kidney failure at 17 yrs old a couple years ago. I miss him terribly, we were like one person him and I, having raised him since he was only a few months old.

Kittens are sweet and good, but consider adopting an adult or senior cats, they are often overlooked when it comes to kitten vs adults adoption. They will love you just as much as a kitten ;3
Absolutely. Their personalities were molded years before so it's easy to know with a senior cat if they are right for it's potential owner. I have a 10 month old now and the next one will be a senior cat who gets along with other cats.
I tried as I'm 60 but they won't let me as I live near main road 😢

This year I lost my cat due to cancer and it hit hard on me but when my 18th birthday rolled around almost 14 days later from April we went to get a kitten and they were so cute when we saw all 4 of them and they were only 2 months and a half we planed to get one but ended up with 2 and just seeing this video I started to cry cause it's been almost 5 months since we had them and I still remember when we got them 😭😭😭😭😭😭 I'm so grateful to meet the 2 cuties and I'm a proud cat mom of how well they are growing😭😭😭😭😭

So cute. One thing, if there is an existing pet in the house do NOT push that pet away when the kitty first arrives. Let the pet know he/she is just important and not being replaced. The newest member is just a new part of the family. The sooner they accept each the happier they and you will be.

I was never gifted by family or friends with a cat. However, a touch over 18 years ago, young Harold, gifted himself to me. The sixteen years we spent together went by way too fast. He's buried now, near the spot he first appeared to me, as he came out of the woods.
It was 2018 and all I wanted for Christmas was a kitten; my own kitten. We had 4 cats at the time, but none of them were 100% mine. (Had, because we have 6 now.)
So it was Christmas and I was in the middle of opening up presents for the other cats, and suddenly, we got a knock on the door as two strangers started to come in. Me being half asleep, I had no idea what was going on and was confused the entire time. I wondered what they were doing in my house and they were there to drop off this pet carrier my mom set up. Out came a beautiful, orange tabby with a Christmas collar, walking out of his carrier and getting to see his new home for the first time. I was in a state of shock- I had no words for receiving the best present of my life. He was definitely a brave and curious kitten, didn't run and hide, he went to the presents and snuggled with everyone in the house, especially me. I named him Fubuki; he was about 6 months old.
Today he is 4 years old, and my best friend in the entire world. And this year, I found out he was born on June 22nd of 2018. So, I did everything I could to give him an awesome party for the other years I missed because I love him so much.
I got my kitten, Isabelle, in 2020 in May and I was so shocked but surprised that it was a girl cat and I get to name her first

For the first time in my life, I cried tears of joy when I found out I would have two kittens.
One day, I was getting off the bus from school (junior high), and was surprised to see my mother and father in the car, waiting for my little brother and I. They picked us up and told us we would be kittysitting for their friend for a little while, two weeks to be exact. We went to pick the kittens up then headed for Walmart. They said we needed to pick up supplies. To my brother, that made sense, but to me, I had to wonder why the owner wouldn't send along the supplies. I asked my parents, but they refused to answer until we were done shopping. They broke the news that we would be keeping them forever. In the car, on the way home, I held a kitten and cried near the whole time, for once actual happy tears. This was the best thing that had ever happened to me. That's the story of my precious tabby brothers, Pete and Chase. (Yes, like Pete the Cat. Thank my little brother.)

I also remember getting a kitten for Christmas from a fellow employee at work. It was secret santa and I said anything cat related to give my santa an idea. I didn't think they would go all out and give a real one.

I see a lot of videos like this. Very emotional/cute and everything but before you spring a surprise pet on someone, make sure they want it. Make sure they're able to care for it and especially if they're elderly... make sure the care of the pet's going to be provided for if they pass before the pet does.
Great grandma might enjoy the comfort of the kitten or puppy but someone has to clean up after them, someone has to walk the dog, and both will probably outlive her.
Yes! I can attest to this!
1. A lot of people, myself included, make it bo secret that we want a little fur baby to take care of. So it isn't so much a problem of 'Do they want a precious little fur ball.' It is more a question of 'Can they take care of it.' And that leads me to my next point...
2. Ad far as we know, these kitties are adopted, and animal shelters, as much as Bill likes to claim otherwise, don't just give them away, believe me, I tried, I wanted a little fur baby for a while now, but I live alone, work odd hours and well I didn't apparently 'qualify'. Which hurt pretty much as I fell in love with the two kitties I had been playing with while visiting the shelter.
I personally think a kitten for an elderly person isn't the best idea. It's better to get them an adult cat. Kittens, especially when they hit the teenage stage, can be a chaotic handful. With adult cats, their personalities have developed and they're more mellow. They'll still need to play regularly, but not like a kitten where it's almost constant.
@@megakaren2160 I prefer an adult cat but adopted a one year old as she was just there awaiting adoption. It took her a year to warm up to me. She is a lot nicer now. Not biting me anymore but still demanding and independent, although she does like to be talked to and petted now. I don’t know her history but I’m pretty sure she didn’t have much socialization. Cats take a long time to trust you if they have not trusted humans before or if traumatized by a human.
Regardless of age, gender, race, religion people react the same to these little furballs. So i guess it is safe to say cats unite us.
Really cool video. Sure hope they are up to a commitment of 15 to 20 years. Our cat, Toto, lived to 24 years. These are living breathing beings, please respect they get attached and become family in their minds too and not to be given away when you’re tired of them.

On behalf of all the poor shelter animals that will be euthanized because they were given as Christmas gifts to people who couldn’t or didn’t ask for such a gift, plz make sure if you get an animal for someone it’s something they asked for first. This video was touching and wonderful to see but is best case scenario. There’s no room in the shelters which means for a new animal to come in one must leave... plz keep this in mind my friends!
