Bungie’s ViDocs are so amazing. When I was a kid these really made me connect with the developers. I’d spend hours watching and rewatching ViDocs when I was younger trying to pick apart the game and find new things. To everyone who got to experience Bungies Halo games, we really are lucky to be a part of gaming history
Respect to David Candland then, Reach has easily the best menus in any game period. Even putting the gorgeous aesthetics aside, all your inputs register and load instantly. I still play Reach campaign & firefight on my 360 copy instead of MCC because of those menus, I don’t know how game UI got so much worse in franchises that used to have it nailed down. Halo Infinite and the new MW2 for instance are barely functional.
"Don't tell Sage, he'll nerf it" - The second I heard that it unearthed a whole ton of memories of chilling on the Bungie forums and watching these vidocs back in the day.
I counted about 7,300 on a Tuesday afternoon. That's half-decent for a 5 year old game that's had a sequel and THEN a remastered collection and another sequel on the way...all on a separate console that's nearing three years old (I think).
God damnit, even the CREATORS were better when Bungie was making Halo! I mean, c'mon, you know you'd want to sit with these guys on couch and just play for hours. Not sure if I could say the same about 343...
That's the reason WHY Halo was better. It was being made by people who actually cared and were making the game for THEMSELVES. So they followed their creative vision. 343 are limp dick developers who try to pander to 12 year olds, and by doing so they sacrifice their vision. Probably never even had one to begin with.
Halo 3 was way better. Better maps, and more of them. Better balance between weapons and equipment. No fucking armor abilities. The kiddies just like Reach better because you can sprint.

Because we all kinda got bored with Halo 3, because for the past 3 years, we played it. Everyday ( or whenever we had some free time). Reach, gave us a reason to play again. It was just.. so awesome.
4 years later after the game has come out and halo 4 is out. This trailer still gets me so pumped about Halo: Reach, Even though I already have it and have beaten it and ranked as a Hero.
Every year or two I come back to this video and enjoy the feeling you get from this. There was just raw Bungie magic you feel from this. Does re open the wound that Bungie is no longer good but oh well.
Played the beta on my 360 when it was out, was on everyday. Had too much fun with Invasion. When the game dropped I went to the midnight release and got home and played Halo reach till 8am, awesome times, the good ol'days.
Still to this day, 343 has been unable to surpass or even match this game in terms of content and polish. Each release has gotten smaller.. less polished... Less passionate

As for what happened to Bungie, Microsoft was treating them like shit, trashing ODST and Reach as "they're not real Halo games without Master Chief', so Bungie left. Then Activision ruined them, then they partnered with Tencent and that didn't help. Unfortunately Bungie just fell from grace.
Perfect balance in gunplay, perfect balance in armor abilities, beautiful maps with beautiful graphics. And a sandbox amount of features easily makes Halo Reach the best FPS of 2010 and quite possibly the best game of 2010.

Ryan Williams For the most part part it would be the same game. These would just be minor gameplay improvements. Halo: Reach was an outstanding experience but it had a few issues. Plus, I want all the downloadable content that I mentioned. I just felt the sprinting mechanic in Halo: Reach was just stringent and borderline broken. The health system needs to be what Halo 5: Guardians is. It regenerates fully and you can see it's status. But I would remove the "non-regeneration while you're sprinting feature".
+TRENEX 379 Halo Reach was Halo reach. Halo 5 is nothing in comparison to this game and I think personally Halo 5 disgraces the rest of the series. Halo Reach was the really the final good Halo before 343i took over.

It's not that halo 2 and 3 were better. IN fact I think Reach was better. But that's my opinion. A lot of the hate that Reach got was based off of how different it was not that it was worse or better per say. I will say the map selection and even post DLC map selection was weak compared to Halo 3 or halo 2. Needed social big team maps made not in forge and just maps that had different aesthetic look from campaign. Powerhouse,swordbase,boardwalk,countdown were good maps. Weak on social big team maps though..halo 3 had like 24 maps and halo reach had like a tiny 10 amount for traditional halo...I'm not counting invasion maps even though that would still make it like 13
i love sacrificing the pickups for the armor abilities idea. it adds that secret weapon that makes the game more balanced and harder to get that unstoppable combination. escpessaly the jetpack, because it adds that extra plane of gaming that you have to watch out for.
The one thing about Reach that I find really frustrating is the Defiant and Noble map pack are by far the best maps ever. Anyone remember Invasion: Breakpoint? Why did they remove the playlists called "premium battle" and "premium slayer"?! Also for invasion nowadays... Ugh. It was back then all about the epic battle of Invaders the small group of remaining Spartans but now it's all about who gets assassinated while camping in the corners or who's gonna get the banshee or the other teams power weapons and Invasion Slayer is even worse. You just based a game type off power weapons and unfair load outs! Have you ever been elites vs humans on hemorrhage? Elites have: 1sniper w/ 12 rounds 1 shotgun w/ 18 shells 1 DMR w/ 45 rounds 1 Needle rifle w/ 63 needles And a few other basic weapons same things for the humans BUT! The humans have a spawn near the cave of the elite base in which they can easily flank with full cover. The elites on the other hand have a spawn near the area called "shark's mouth" in the open!! With nothing but a few rocks to cover them! I don't know how they ever though this was fair and could keep going but I hope they either cancel invasion in Halo 5 to evade such disaster results. Don't get me wrong I love the game itself I even command a clan in it. But I can't stay put and watch this happening. Bring back Defiant + Noble packs. If you think I'm an idiot ask me anything about invasion that you think is fair and I'll gladly most likely prove your mistakes. Thank you.

@XThexEmptinessX Actually, the Battle Rifle (BR55) was around and in the service of the UNSC Marine Corps. The Designated Marksman Rifle (M392) USED to be used in all branches of the UNSC military, but has since been replaced by the BR55 in all branches but the Army. The UNSC Army is specifically planet-based, so each planet has it's own army, whereas the Marines are also on interstellar ships. The BR was replaced for gameplay purposes. So far seems like a good decision.
In Halo 3, a good 4-shot is all about locating those four key shots as quickly as possible. In Reach, it's going to be all about finding the appropriate timing between shots, based on their distance to you. Can't wait to work out another skill in Halo.
I really hope 343i makes a video like this. It really get's pumped to play in multiplayer games. I got pissed at Reach multiplayer, and I already feel like playing it again after watching this.

@3:49 Armor lock is the biggest mistake Bungie made to this game. It ruined the game for me. And the dude even said "its super powerful". Guess they never though it would be abused.

Ahh Nostalgia at its best. I remember playing Multi-team with members of my clan and never playing the objective but instead just racking up the kills. Good times, good times.

I dont mind halo nowadays but literally I’ll never be hyped for a game like I was for this one again. A lot of people hated reach but for a guy coming into halo on halo 3 I thought reach was the best thing ever

@XThexEmptinessX Actually, the Battle Rifle (BR55) was around and in the service of the UNSC Marine Corps. The Designated Marksman Rifle (M392) USED to be used in all branches of the UNSC military, but has since been replaced by the BR55 in all branches but the Army. The UNSC Army is specifically planet-based, so each planet has it's own army, whereas the Marines are also on interstellar ships.
The BR was replaced for gameplay purposes. So far seems like a good decision.
In Halo 3, a good 4-shot is all about locating those four key shots as quickly as possible. In Reach, it's going to be all about finding the appropriate timing between shots, based on their distance to you. Can't wait to work out another skill in Halo.
the deaths and ragdoll effect look so amazing. th whole flailing through the air thing, instead of just freezing is so much better.

I really hope 343i makes a video like this. It really get's pumped to play in multiplayer games. I got pissed at Reach multiplayer, and I already feel like playing it again after watching this.
