I don't care so much about the lyrics bro. We are likely to know it already. Thanks for your effort! I do however care about the next reaction e.g. *blackwater park* 👊🌈🔥
Just listen to the music as a whole in these videos. Once you start liking the music, the lyrics are the like the cherry on top because they are absolutely beautiful. But first try to appreciate the musicianship.
I think its definetly nice to see you looking into the lyrics, you usually get it pretty close to. Nice to see from a new point of view, its good content man your humble about it. Personally i like it
I mean, the "song as it is" is not a collection of texts deciphering its meaning so it can be more coherent as a composition. All the important aspects are sonically presented. And that is how you experience it. Sure digging up the lyrics can make you appreciate the song much more, but i think that is for subsequent listening, not the first. Its like playing a game with a walktrhough in your first playthrough.
@@andre99249 And like, why not open the tabs to every instrument and synth on the song? So we can figure out what is exactly happening there too? Its not like you couldnt hear it on the song right?
Dude watching your Opeth reaction videos reminded my experience of getting into their death metal stuff but in a complete reversed way of yours. I started with Deliverance and then The Drapery Falls etc. And when I got into Ghost of Perdition I decided that Opeth is one of my all time favorite bands \m/
You ABSOLUTELY need to do the next track on the album! A Fair Judgement. No growling and it's one of their most beautiful songs with some amazing guitar solos and another superb outro.
I am coming late to the party, but I love the commentary on the lyrics. Watching reactions can be interesting, but I like hearing your interpretation of the lyrics, whether I agree or not. Keep it up!
I like that you break down lyrics! there is no absolute good answer to what the lyrics are meaning, one of the best thing about many songs is that you interpret something that is way different then i would and that is super interesting! Shows that you are more into the reaction and i think it makes a more genuine reaction! Keep up the good work! Keep up with Opeth, legendary band!
Hoping you'll get to Hessian Peel eventually. Probably their best after Bleak if you ask me. Still got some growls. But not alot. God I love that song.
About the outro and what you said before it.. i know this song so well, it's my most listened song on spotify since when i got an account and i really enjoy your face and your smiles because i felt connected to you..i love you man, you do a great job . i wjust really wish you'll see this because you have to know that you made some guy happy for 5 minutes only because you shared emotions with a stranger that really loves Opeth and what are you doing for us in this hursh times. Take care and keep doing this ( check th lyrics at least just for your own knowledge and sometimes if you feel it share your thoughts about that with us, we''ll appreciate for sure ) cheers
I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest Continuum & All Things Will Pass. They're the final two songs on their recent album and a totally different style from what they used to make. They're beautiful tracks and feed into each other. If you want to experience a whole different style of Opeth, I'd highly recommend those two.
Personally I don’t really care about the lyrics, in the end just react in whatever way you find most enjoyable, Drew, this is your channel and you have a right to enjoy uploading content. Keep up the good work man.
Lyrical analysis is one of the most enjoyable part of reaction videos. You either get to watch someone else find out about it, or they have a take that you never thought of and learn something. But maybe we could just tell you when the lyrics are important. Blackwater Park next please.
When I heard that song live I was kinda drunk and I was totally blown away and that outro was insane live 👏🏻 one of the best experiences on a metal gig
I do enjoy the lyric speculation, however I do think for most tracks on first listen it's best to just focus on the music. I think if a lyric stands out to you, there's no harm in mentioning it. But as a consistent part of your videos, I feel it can be cut out. Especially if you feel it's making more work for you overall, and detracting from the music itself. (Also lyrics are like poetry sometimes, and discussing poetry is another channel entirely lol). Now for reactions I'd love to see: - Blackwater Park by Opeth (heavy growls, but once the track picks up, you'll be grooving so hard you won't even care) - Arriving Somewhere but not Here by Porcupine Tree - Passionflower by Jon Gomm (not metal, but when you see what he does with a guitar, you'll be shocked) - Deadhead (Live at Royal Albert Hall) by Devin Townsend - Exit Strategy of a Wrecking Ball by Diablo Swing Orchestra (new orleans swing + metal. It's great)
I enjoy your breakdowns you seem like an intelligent dude who uses context clues of the lyrics to properly deduce their meaning and youre pretty spot on imo. And im a huuuge opeth fan. Can we get some face of melinda on the channel tho?? Thats such a beautiful song.
Lots of people asking for reactions to Watershed and earlier era Opeth. But I'd like to hear something from Pale Communon. River or Faith In Others preferably. I think a lot of fans who were initially turned off by the dramatic style change have come back to Pale Communion over the years and really started to vibe with it. They stopped using growls after Watershed, so that'll help you a lot.
I think it's time you listen to either "Burden" or "Universal Truth" for non-growl vocals. Both are fantastic tracks that really show case Akerfeldt's voice.
If you personally want to do the lyric analysis then please do, but if you find it too timeconsuming, we would not see any problem in that. Thank you for this video! Greetings from Sweden
Most of the essence of a song is what the lyrics are about; especially with Opeth. It's good to see what you think the lyrics are about, even if it's not what they're actually about.

I don't care so much about the lyrics bro. We are likely to know it already. Thanks for your effort!
I do however care about the next reaction e.g. *blackwater park*
👊🌈🔥
yaas
thank you for doing Deliverance , we like , we subscribe , i'm from Morocco , and this is the best video to start the day
Bleak and Blackwater Park by Opeth.
Period.
Just listen to the music as a whole in these videos. Once you start liking the music, the lyrics are the like the cherry on top because they are absolutely beautiful. But first try to appreciate the musicianship.
The drum groove at 10:45 fucking changed my life as a drummer man.
I think its definetly nice to see you looking into the lyrics, you usually get it pretty close to. Nice to see from a new point of view, its good content man your humble about it. Personally i like it
I dont care about digging into the lyrics at all. Just enjoy to the song as it is.
You keep making the best life choices Drew!
Wasn't one of my favorite Opeth songs for a while but then I heard it live and it was absolutely MASSIVE. Appreciated it a lot more after that.
Here's a band you need to check out: Leprous. Start with The Valley or Chronic, and then go to Contaminate Me.
You ABSOLUTELY need to do the next track on the album! A Fair Judgement. No growling and it's one of their most beautiful songs with some amazing guitar solos and another superb outro.
Digging before hand prepping before the video is cool. Gives you more to look forward to. :)
Opeth is such a rabbit hole and their songs really grow on you and need more than one listen, I agree Blackwater Park or The Moor next!
Hoping you'll get to Hessian Peel eventually. Probably their best after Bleak if you ask me. Still got some growls. But not alot. God I love that song.
Antelano the song and album are both so under appreciated. Watershed is my second favorite Opeth album for sure.
Or hex omega
What makes the outro so great is how a lot of the emotion in it is conveyed through the rythm and not only the melody and harmonics.
Now that youve done deliveranve you need to do blackwater park even more. Pls
Opeths the only band I can do with the death growls. I’ve always hated them but his voice is too good. Plus it gets me going in the gym like crazy.
I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest Continuum & All Things Will Pass. They're the final two songs on their recent album and a totally different style from what they used to make. They're beautiful tracks and feed into each other. If you want to experience a whole different style of Opeth, I'd highly recommend those two.
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Personally I don’t really care about the lyrics, in the end just react in whatever way you find most enjoyable, Drew, this is your channel and you have a right to enjoy uploading content.
Keep up the good work man.
A Fair Judgement seems like an ideal song for you. No growls, just cleans, but still very Opeth.
That's the best way
First listen, just music
JUST MUSIC!!!
Studio version first too!
Lyrical analysis is one of the most enjoyable part of reaction videos. You either get to watch someone else find out about it, or they have a take that you never thought of and learn something. But maybe we could just tell you when the lyrics are important. Blackwater Park next please.
The outro is like a song within a song.It has an intro a middle & an outro all of it's own.
Liking the reactions and breakdowns, nice to hear an irish feen talking about Metal too haha rare enough outside Dublin
When I heard that song live I was kinda drunk and I was totally blown away and that outro was insane live 👏🏻 one of the best experiences on a metal gig
Rjrvi rkrbrvr odne cpp cock didn't coack rodb dnr odn rkdb rmebr oppcbkvrr fxk set
Now for reactions I'd love to see:
- Blackwater Park by Opeth (heavy growls, but once the track picks up, you'll be grooving so hard you won't even care)
- Arriving Somewhere but not Here by Porcupine Tree
- Passionflower by Jon Gomm (not metal, but when you see what he does with a guitar, you'll be shocked)
- Deadhead (Live at Royal Albert Hall) by Devin Townsend
- Exit Strategy of a Wrecking Ball by Diablo Swing Orchestra (new orleans swing + metal. It's great)
Awesome song! Probably one of Opeth's heaviest ones. I even made a shitty cover on my channel, this piece is just stuck in my heart
Please keep the lyrical dissections going! I love hearing your interpretations!
Amazing!
I like when you talk about the lyrics. It's interesting and it matters that you do what interests you, not what interests others :)
Love the unpredictable chord changes!!
Bleak or Blackwater Park would be great!
Give the song "Sorceress" a crack, it's very different to these songs you've done and all cleans.
I think it's time you listen to either "Burden" or "Universal Truth" for non-growl vocals. Both are fantastic tracks that really show case Akerfeldt's voice.
You should definitely react to Leprous. Try their track Stuck, Slave, Rewind or The Sky is Red!
If you personally want to do the lyric analysis then please do, but if you find it too timeconsuming, we would not see any problem in that. Thank you for this video! Greetings from Sweden
Kept the promise! Enjoying the Opeth reactions. I don't listen to them for the lyrics so I don't mind a lack of analysis.
I like your interpretation of the song meaning based in the lyrics, I feel that is important to include
A Fair Judgement would be a proper follow up. Next song in the album and clean vocals! I bet you’d love it
+1
Where owls know my name by Rivers of nihil
I second this
not yet. I fucking love that song that's some mad shit right there. in another few months maybe
Blackwater Park, my man. It's mind-blowing.
Most of the essence of a song is what the lyrics are about; especially with Opeth.
It's good to see what you think the lyrics are about, even if it's not what they're actually about.
