The ONLY complaint I have about their story is how D'vora is the one who killed Scorpion. If it was Noob Saibot, everything would have came together beautifully

well actually bi han killed scorpion when he was a human (Hanzo), when they were at the temple of the elements and he stole shinnoks amulet (quan chi hired both scorpion and sub zero to retrieve the amulet knowing they were going to meet each other and eventually fight, he also knew sub zero was stronger and he was going to kill him, he took advantage of this and turned scorpion into a spectre cause as scorpion he was able to handle hellfire) so everything went full circle when scorpion killed him in the first tournament
Keep in mind that Quan Chi was the one responsible for this rivalry. Either way, this rivalry is the BEST one ever made

The interesting thing about this rivalry is that the story is inconsistent. Depending on the game/saga, the story changes frequently. And even their roles change. Scorpion and Sub-Zero have both been heroes and villains.
The explanation is that there are different timelines after Armageddon it reset and that the original sub zero bi-Han was more villainous than kuai liang.
@@mr.rufasi2729 Still makes the story interesting. In other forms of media, this would really kill any story they were going for, because it meant they could do whatever they wanted at any given time with no rules, and that has a tendency to backfire and make the product boring.
Here however, there is a set of rules, and the endless possibilities within them create different opportunities as to what they do with Sub-Zero and Scorpion.
Which is why the rivalry is pretty underwhelming. People in the comments talking about this the best rivalry in gaming lol…The storytelling in MK is pretty sub-par. Shame because it does have potential.
Vergil and Dante is a way more consistent and developed rivalry.
@@supremedreams6789 To be fair, the Mortal Kombat storyline has been restarted so many times and switched up over and over that the inconsistency with their story isn't anything new. Also, the story isn't really the selling point of Mortal Kombat. It's more about the extremely bloody and gory violence in the games.
Also, it seems like they always manage to put a Scorpion vs. Sub-Zero fight in the stories of every MK game. The circumstances were different each time, but there always managed to be at least one Scorpion vs. Sub-Zero fight in all the games that had a story mode.
Mortal Kombat/ MK 9: They fought twice. First one, Scorpion killed Bi Han. Second one, Sub-Zero got retaliation, but was stopped by the Lin Kuei before he could finish Scorpion.
Mortal Kombat X: They fought at the Lin Kuei Temple when Scorpion thought Sub-Zero was trying to kill him.
Mortal Kombat 11: They fought when Sub-Zero thought Scorpion from the past was still evil and working for Kronika.
I think the fact it's Scorpion and Sub-Zero is why the rivalry is so popular, though. I mean, you talk two of the most opposite types of elements: Fire vs. Ice. They're easily the strongest ninjas in the MK games. They've also been rivals since the very first game.

Bi Han was done wrong, killed for something he didn't do after saving everyone, and forsakened and shunned by any who could help him return to who he was. He is truly alone. Noob Saibot definitely deserved to be the true main vilian but at the very least he should have won way more of his fights in the campaign. They literally just took a dump on a character with so much potential.
