Brian May has PhD in astrophysics, Dexter Holland has PhD in molecular biology. Two academics on a rock stage! Now I'd like to attend any seminar where they talk about science.
Given the heaviness and speed of the original 1974 track, "Stone Cold Crazy" is considered the first "speed metal" song ever recorded. From the same album with the pop hit "Killer Queen" and a vaudeville-esque track like "Bring Back That Leroy Brown." Queen was an incredibly creative, musically expansive band back then. This was a treat to watch: 50 years later and still relevant.
Give Ogre Battle a listen off Queen 2. Definite heavy charging metal there as well. The guitar riff was actually written by Freddie Mercury. No question Queen were heavy metal pioneers.
@@humphreysmcgoo4370 nah, they're sounding better now. plus their last song light it up is better than their entire last album. he rejuvenated the band
This is literally the only Stone Cold Crazy cover I’ve ever heard in which the drummer’s groove captures the same rapid shuffle of Roger Taylor’s original recording. It’s one thing to play fast, hard, and accurate, but quite another to do so with that specific feel. Outstanding!
Excellent version. Had me smiling all the way through. Bravo! I heard them play this live in 1975 at Bristol Colston Hall and it remains the best gig I have ever been to.
Fantastic performance, both Brian May and the Offspring killed it. Holy shit, Brian's guitar playing is the stuff of legends, he still sets those frets on fire.
Their drummer was on fire! Blazing fast but still picked up on the nuances, great performance. And Brian May & The Offspring? Forget about it, fantastic stuff!
Along with the Beatles, Queen are the biggest band ever ... both The Beatles and Queen have sold more records than any other band ... and you look at the talent that was in Queen and you can see why ... 3 out of the 4 could be lead singers, they all played multiple instruments and boy were they all clever and educated ... Sir Brian May is a true Legend, who amongst other things has worked with NASA
As a Brit raised on Doctor Sir Brian May and Queen, but one that discovered so much thanks to American, Dexter and the boys fucking nailed it. Everything was perfect. Waited since The Kids Ain't Alright to hear this, and I'll admit it, it was worth the wait.
I used to listen to Sheer Heart Attack on my Sony cassette Walkman when I was thirteen on a seaside holiday with my parents. I would put the Walkman inside a bike pouch attached to the frame and ride on a gravel road along the coast in the late afternoon. Such a beautiful memory. Back in 1992 none of my middle school friends had any knowledge of the album.
I used to do the same in the early 90s, listening to 70's and 80's classics while my middle school friends were listening to commercial techno music... I remember meeting up a friend with same tastes to just listen to music together. Great memories!
Perfect song choice for the Offspring from Queen's catalogue. Shows the musical connectivity between two great bands from different eras. Amazing performance too.
The fact that there is a sea of cell phones in the air instead of a sea of people jumping up and down says something about today's audiences. Are you kidding me? I'd be losing my mind grooving out to this!
Incredible to think 'Sheer Heart Attack' came out 50 years ago in 1974 which put Queen on the charts with their fantastic 'Killer Queen', then 2 decades later the Offspring released 'Smash' in 1994 again put the band on the charts with 'Come Out and Play', now here we are with The Offspring and Brian May 30 years later performing on stage!
YOU GUYS ROCKED THIS !! I REMEMBER BUYING MY 1ST OFFSPRING ALBUM , SMASH.. FROM CANADA, I WAS IN ORLANDO AT THE TIME... ALSO 1ST CD I EVER PURCHASED MYSELF IN MY LIFE..
The Offspring were the first band I got into as a kid, before that it was mostly Japanese video game music that I'd record from the TV speaker and listen on a walkman. After Conspiracy of One I started discovering a whole new world of music thanks to the internet, but it's awesome to see Dexter & Noodles rocking out with Brian May. Yet another thing that would've blown the mind of the 13-year-old me that was listening to Sheer Heart Attack for the first time. The future isn't all bad!
Same here. Pretty Fly for a White Guy single handedly steered me away from being a rap fan when I was 11. Once I discovered 80s metal, I never looked back.
It's impossible not to recognize the sound of May's guitar
You could bet, one of the shittiest ever

Add in Greg Graffin and you have the trinity of (punk)rock professors.
Awesome. They are really smart
Nerds
Don't forget Milo Aukerman who also has a Phd in biology and also conducted postdoctoral research in molecular biology.
I have a PhD in female body curves, so why I dont play on stage?
I'm one of the lucky guy who had the chance to see Queen live, I can die in peace
Amen brother - saw them 3 times in the 70s….

Go back about 6 years or so for that.

I love how, no matter who he might be appearing with, Brian always looks like he's having the greatest time.
This song was released by Queen 50 years ago, 1974 😮
Not quite 50. It’s almost 50. 8 November 1974.
There’s always one isn’t there. that likes to split hairs ffs 🙄
