- Life With Father (1947) A headstrong 19th century stockbroker, Clarence Day (William Powell), strives (unsuccessfully) to make his family function as efficiently as his Wall Street office. Mr. Day likes things to go his way, and naively believes that he controls every aspect of his families affairs, though his wife Vinnie Day (Irene Dunne) is really the one running the show. The anecdotal story encompasses such details as Clarence's attempts to find a new maid, a plan by Clarence Jr. and his younger brother John to make easy money selling patent medicines, and Clarence's general contempt for the era's political corruption and the trappings of organized religion. With Elizabeth Taylor.
I hope they never EVER make a remake of this movie. Today's remakes are trash!
I can imagine today's remake: "Life Sentence for Baby Daddy."
Elizabeth Taylor is so young in this!
Mr Day certainly was the king of his castle! Wonderful movie - a fond look.back at Old New York. Perfect to watch during a quiet time at home. Highly recommended!
I played the first maid, in a Little Theater group, way back when. Great memories!! The cast parties were "interesting"!
i love this movie and its ageless - such a great flow of fun and acting
This movie is older than me. But it’s one of my favorites ❤
So wonderful 😊
I am watching it to go to sleep by but I bet I will not make it to sleep till the end credits show on the screen ...
I Absolutely LOVE this movie 🍿 🎥
¡ Esta película es genial!
I have seen this film many times. It's okay.
its a nice movie..
Well I am old & enjoy classics that are pure & comedic that show you can have a good movie without sex, language coming from a toilet. These movies are just plain funny movies.
SHPLEYSSEL ABSOLVE DADDY'O AND CHEERS FIR THE UPLOAD, MR. GADGET ! ! !
Was that second oldest son Martin Milner from “Adam 12”?

Yes
Yes.
I’ve watched this movie countless times in my almost 80 years on this earth. Everything about it is extraordinary: the wonderful acting of all the actors; especially Irene Dunne and William Powell, the lovely house and its decor the fashions worn by both the men, women and children. It was, indeed, a better time in this wonderful Country’s history. When you juxtapose this movie with today’s political turmoil, it gives me great sadness. I wonder if I will live long enough to see this once great Republic recover from the worst attack on our Constitution since its inception. This beautiful movie gives me hope that we will see our freedoms prevail. Watching on January 1, 2024 from PA, USA. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
♥️ me too
Relax, dude.
No, we're pretty much screwed. The only respite I have is watching these old movies...

@Lanny. Other You Tube channels show these alot of these wonderful old movies, with hundreds of comments. You just haven't come across them. There are many of us who absolutely love them!!
I think it’s because they don’t know it’s public domain, and looking it up on UA-cam feels sketchy.
I love all of Shelly Temples old movies
Hi I love watching classic movies I'm a African American 50 yrs. And I love it👍🤗
I’ve watched this movie at least 25 times. About every month or so. And My Man Godfrey too.

Love this movie. William Powell and Irene Dunne are so good in this. Thanks for posting in HD!
Though I have seen this movie myriad times, it is still amusing n delightful n fun n eclectic n I love 💕🤩 it ever so!!! Irene Dunne n William Powell are such excellent performers, both playing off each other with sarcasm, confusion, n iconic lines bandied about, they are a treat to watch!! Even the kids are clever n amusing?!! GAD!!! Thanks for making my Sunday evening so wonderful 👍!!!
Loved this movie 🍿 good old movie when they were innocent and beautiful to watch the you for sharing ❤❤❤❤
Have watched this multiple-dozens of time in my many decades of life. I enjoy EVERY time as though it were my first viewing.
Old movies generally have great stories and great character actors who appear again and again and yet completely engage you in the role of the moment...fabulous!!
I’m in love with this movie; I probably have watched it a dozen times now 😍 thanks for sharing it in this great quality 👏🏼
Me too, I’ve watched it many times. It makes me happy. I love how the whole family have red hair, even the dog…lol

I have watched this film several times....and I still love it!
Dunne, as always, is great
Enjoyed this one!
It took me a couple minutes to realize this has some deep satirical comment. It made me think of how Jonathan Swift's "A modest proposal" was not initially well received because people thought he seriously was suggesting that babies should be eaten. It also reminded me of the family in Mary Poppins, where the father was the king of his castle and a captain of industry, and the wife's silly work was as a suffragist. And then the TV show with Archie Bunker, where the point was not to give credence to a self-proclaimed bigot, but to allow people to see what their views look like In broader society. I don't think I would watch this again, but it was interesting to take a minute to reflect on how society changes, or does not. Things to think about
One of my favorites Irene Dunn ❤️ Claire and Vinnie so funny 😅 I Love all the black and white 🎬 movies just watch miracle on 34th street 😂 Robert Young is in alot of funny movies sitting pretty is the funniest too😅
..."a lot"...
I'm a little surprised that they show the WB logo. This movie is in the public domain, but prints usually eliminate it.
Somehow this became a "Christmas" movie. Though there is no mention of it and it's not during the season. Just one of those movies you want to watch at Christmastime...
Wow! I loved it!
"Every daisy in the dell knows my secret, knows it well. And yet I dare not tell thee sweet Marie" 🎵❤
I came across the movie about 4 years ago. I watch it all the time.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh! Gad!!!!
One of MY top FAVS❤🫶🏽❄️🥶Thanks
You gotta love the morality back then... This movie is made in 1947. Code of ethics was in place. An entire list of things you can't do was introduced to the film industry. No cursing, Parents couldn't be laying in the same bed. You could only simulate a restroom but you could not actually show a toilet was one of the things they were strict about BUT, You were perfectly fine to racially offend people (On Film) you felt you were better than! LOL! "He's not Baptized?! Why, Even the Savages in Darkest Africa Are".... No thought whatsoever was given to how this movie is going to age over time. No care was ever considered that societies of the future might look and be ethically different than what is accepted right now... You gotta love it. A shining example of the twisted ethical logic lives on in film. LOL!
Hollywood is/was controlled by racist people and history is always told by the dominant society.
