  • I am very pleased to present to you my latest sample library for the Waldorf Quantum and Iridium. This library contains recorded samples of a steel-strung acoustic guitar. There are just over 240Mb of stereo samples in total, spread across three basic playing techniques.
For more information and to purchase and download the library please visit my website here: www.soundmangling.com/quantum...

Pristine quality sound, Tim! Nailed, fingered, dumped - great attention to details. I know, I should not say fingered, but you totally nailed it :)

I love reversing guitar. Reverse some pieces in my tracks or play reverse delay, anything to that effect. While on topic, if you know Ottmar Liebert, my guitar hero, check on his album called Slow, you could enjoy it.

    Hi, Tim:
This Steel set and the Nylon set, which I’ve purchased of course, are the reasons I’m keeping my Quantum. I’m a Sequential fan and had been looking at the Prophet X as an alternative to the Quantum, and to round out my Sequential family (P Rev2-16, OB-6, Trigon-6). But I think I’ll postpone that purchase until later.
Your nylon string patch(es) precisely match the genuine article to my ear, and what I’ve heard from the PX isn’t close (your strummed patch was particularly wonderful and useful, and clever!) Likewise all of your Steel patches.
I know you’ve sold your Quantum in favor of the Iridium, but I hope you’ll continue creating these amazingly accurate acoustical instrument patches for those of us who own either Waldorf, but only possess piano skills!
FYI - I’m chiefly interested in orchestral instruments of all genres for quasi-classical applications. I currently use a Korg Kronos-2, Yamaha MOXF8, and Ensoniq ZR-76 for these purposes. But judging from your guitar patches for the Quantum, their sound designers could benefit from your mentoring (noting the limitations of the respective instruments).
Is there any chance you’ll develop patches for other acoustical instruments in the future for the Quantum (Iridium)? Orchestral wind and stringed instruments? Purcussive intruments? Voices?
No doubt a negligible market, but your skill with the Quantum is remarkable and could change everything for piano-minded composers like me, in search of an orchestra.
    All the best!

Hi, I'm really glad you like those sample libraries 🙏 To be honest I had lots of ideas - and intentions - for new ones but there were two problems: First, there is no way for me to copy protect the sample files, and second the Waldorf synths have serious space restrictions. I know there have been firmware improvements to allow USB storage, I need to take a look and see how that's working. But the copy protection issue still remains and is something I have to consider in terms of the effort I put into producing a product.
I do really enjoy sampling and I'm sure will produce more libraries in the future, but it's an incredibly tough market, the "big boys" like Spitfire Audio give away so many high qualitysample packs. On the one hand it is seen as making samples available to those on tight incomes but on the other it's a great way to hinder the efforts of individuals trying to enter the market for the first time and keep the competition away. And I regularly see established companies like 8Dio offering massive sample libraries for less than a tenth of the normal price.

Yes, I get that now. Too bad. I wish that insanely talented programmers like you had the support in all ways from the manufacturers to go all out and produce the best patches possible! So glad at least for your guitar patches!

hello tim I have a problem loading the STEEL package on my iridium, in LOAD and ACTIONS I load the STEEL package and when it loads everything it says SAMPLED LOAD MAP FAILED and it doesn't load the samples, I hope you give me a solution
    Thank you

Hi Pablo. I have not heard of that error before. The only thing I can suggest to check is the amount of free space for samples on your Iridium. It is possible you didn't have enough space to import the samples, the Iridium does not currently give a clear warning about this. If free space is not the issue I would suggest contacting Waldorf support, they are very helpful 👍

Tim Shoebridge hi tim i have solved the memory problem, but the patches all sound the same as the first one. because it can be?

@@RedgroundProductions If you have freed up some space then I think you will need to start over and reinstall the STEEL library. Not sure what you mean when you say the patches all sound the same tbh.
