Waldorf M - Part II (no talking)

- Exploring the Waldorf M. No effects aside from a few seconds into a reverb on one part and a kick and clap in another. No multi patches. Captured by a Burl B2 Bomber and Ableton.
Triggered by hand with a Keystep Pro to my left and some midi clips/sequencers in Ableton.
Thanks for watching.
The best demo of this instrument, period, well done.
This synth demo is better music than most released music. I’d buy this album.
This is the most beautiful synth demo I've ever heard
Thank you Anthony.
@@Rareos no, thank you !!! 🍰😃
Rareo simply fantastic
You use synth with freeedom, love it
Thx for post!
it is very beautiful.
I agree, this is pure sound design and musical application gold.
I just wanna thank you. This vid was selling me the M. For me it was the best purchase in years. I had a lot of synths in the past 20 years, but this one really really shines. Not a single day without new sonic explorations. The learning curve in the beginning is a bit steep, especially the timebased envelopes are still a bit confusing to me. But besides that, no matter what knob you turn, the results are superb every time. Also thanks to Waldorf for this inspiring instrument. ❤ from Switzerland.
i would also like to say thanks for helping me pull the trigger on the M with this video. I never would have considered it otherwise, but I am very glad I did. It is the best sounding synth i've heard, including full analog vco polys. What an incredibly musical and deep sound design tool. every single sound just oozes rich characterful warm honey. its unbelievable
I’m absolutely in love with this synth, your both videos from Waldorf M are the best right now. It will be my next one sure, thank you!
Probably the best demonstration of this synth on UA-cam.
Some of the best patches on this that I've heard yet. Nice!
You have the best demo-img style
I love this. I love synths that have that emotional impact... feel it with the Matrix 12, Prophet 5 and now this... just brings to mind lots of images..
Everything here. Just so damn pleasing. What a synth. Such great sounds being drawn out here. Amazing.
bought mine yesterday after watching your videos, thx mate for that.
It's the first time i hear a worthy modern alternative to the original Ppg sound and i own the original system , it's rough and fuzzy round the edges just as it is supposed to be
This demo is giving me GAS!!!! It is really convincing, great sound design
Glad you two like it.
This did not disappoint! Lovely sounding synth and perfect sci-fi soundtrack material.
Excellent!!
best Waldorf M vids!
First Waldorf that has a charm in its sound. And you are really selling it- great stuff.
You didn't like the Iridium or Quantum?
@@Rightly_Divided Interface seem very capable but you can do pretty much on it as you can on Pigments. I have to say- I hate their sound.
@@MikolaiStroinski well I can respect that
???? What about the Microwave I, Microwave II, Microwave XT????
Makes me sad that I had to sell my XTK years ago. Makes me happy that there is a good modern version and with analog filter. I will save up and get this, but also means I need some decent FX to bring out the best in it. Love that it is four part and four outs!
The last preset is amazing!
Epic. Thank you !!!
Excellent !
Excellent
Really useful thanks! Now i can hear how it sounds in a way I'd actually use it..
This sounds way way WAY better than the microwave I that I had a year ago and sold
best demo on the tube
Superb sounding synth. Had the original mk1 which sounded insane but impossible to program. This opens up the synth so you can properly explore the deep sonic landscape within. Can't wait to try it. It sounds quite different to my Quantum.
Agreed! ..and I love the layout of this the more I use it. World’s different from the Quantum as well, I have an Iridium and apart from the form factor it’s like they come from two different manufacturers
thank you !my waldorf m is coming 29 of okt
All the praise here is deserved, unbelievable sounds. Any way to talk you into sharing some of your patches?
Electro madness :) Thank you again. These club chords by Martin Stuertzer preset Epsilon Eridani @ 38:03. I played the very same on this preset once for an hour or so :):):)
absolutely, although that preset he made though i did not do it justice in the video... it's soooo nice. Thanks again Vlad.
well crap, you made me buy one! great demos man, you need to put some beats to these sounds
Thanks Bowen, definitely will be working some of these recording into tracks.
buries iridium
The GAS is damn strong here. Look like Im reaching for my wallet real soon for the M and Nymphes 6. Can't wait to get this join in the fun with MW1 and few other on similar spectrum.🤘
can you comment on your sequencer, or is this just triggering using the loop feature?
Another question, you demonstrate that digital synth used with inspiration are not the bad brother of analog synth
Hey there, amazing sounds. Just curious have you programmed these sounds or are they the onboard presets?
Hey Antoine, thanks. These all started from presets which were tweaked, some of them more than others. Also many are just the same preset tweaked even more to make a different sound.
@@Rareos That’s brilliant, it sounds magnificent.
Does it take a lot of tweaking to get those magical sounds? And also- is the way to achieve modulation easy to get used to?
Not that much tweaking i guess, seems there is magic whichever way you turn, and i think it's in the oscillators, they are so textural and robust and quite some consonance with the filters, as in there is lots of agreement between them and the osc, combined with that aliasing, at times crunchy quality the tone can be really captivating. I haven't even started using it with effects or other processing, external filters, etc... but i think that's going to be special.
As for modulation, I thought i wouldn't love it, as I have synths with the matrix or mod matrix pages and am into that, but I'm finding this method to be simple, quite fast actually, easy to get used to. I guess it's because the big encoder in the middle feels good, turns nicely to quickly move pages and is near to the menu sub-menu buttons so the experience feels pretty intuitive. I'm enjoying it more and more every time i sit down with it.
I did end up getting one, and I was not disappointed. My only complaint is that it took me a while to remember the abbreviations for some of the modulations, but it’s mostly very intuitive or easy to learn.
Sorry to be a complete newbie here, but how do you actually hold a note in the Waldorf. Do you need hold function on your midi keyboard or does the Waldorf have a hold function. Very nice sound. This is by far the best demo of the Waldorf M. Thank you..
I am not aware of a desktop synth that has a hold feature. Because it's related to the MIDI data. You need a sequencer or a MIDI keyboard. So, it's up to them. For you might be interesting that the envelopes can have very long release times for super slowly decaying notes.
the arp has a "hold" parameter, but you have to set the time very slow, but fast enough that it actually plays
Could you tell me does this unit has some effects section or absolutely no? Thank you
There is no effects section at all.
37:56 you can really hear those VCAs in this patch.
This, Iridium, or Prophet 12? I would make these kinds of sounds. Along with an ambient background.
Hard to say, I think it depends on taste as they would all fit. M can do some really interesting soundscapes and textures as well as very slow and long modulations, however of course Iridium can as well. I have finding M layers with other synths in a very nice way, Its lovely with the summit. But If I really had to choose only one I’d go with Iridium. I write that as an Iridium and M owner.
@@Rareos Thank you for your thoughts. PS - I very much enjoyed Parts I and II as musical performances!
@@Rareos would you choose the iridium over the M because of the many different options? You make the M sound so good I’m leaning toward the M.
does this thing sound that good or is that just the burl bomber talking
A bit of both i guess. To be fair at the levels the Burl was seeing here it probably wasn't being much other than good, clear AD conversion.
@@Rareos truth. did you check out that 3rd wave PPG synth coming soon?
Ok ... this video made me purchase the Waldorf M (no joke). The other reason is Vladimir Salnikov (the DEV) because i can see this is a labor of love (check gearspace for ex)
Update , just got the Waldorf M and i can say WOW , exceeded my expectation !
Part 3?
Maybe soon, just 4 hours of multi-tweaking footage to sift through.
I really hope you saved some of these patches because you're definitely selling me this synth.
Unfortunately i saved nothing, but trying to develop that habit now ;) Thanks though!
A lot of them in the video were based on tweaking factory patches, so don't worry.
@@vladimirsalnikov5806 Good to know, thanks Vlad!
Bro I think you just sold me on this synth. Pls make some patches. An count me in.
on it.
This reminds me of the classic machinedrum video that probably sold thousands of those boxes. Great stuff! ua-cam.com/video/LtxX0VEpMSI/v-deo.html
well shit. Thanks for spending $2500 of my own hard earned money.
sorry my bad ;)
