Hi Stewart, I've recently subscribed to your channel and am steadily working my way through your back catalogue despite having kept bees for 19 years! I was so pleased to see your review of Bees at the Bottom of the Garden, I have Gail's personal copy of the first edition which I purchased at the Lincolnshire bee auction back when I first started! I also have some antiquated books such as The Beekeeper's Handbook by Herbert Mace... Despite being published in 1952, a lot of info is still relevant, obviously some things have moved on but manipulations are still the same! Thank you for all your hard work in producing these videos, I still consider myself a relative beginner and am learning so much!
That is good that u said that about the protection, that is what I did I watched videos on u tube people was not wearing anything and I thought it was very safe and one day I went to my hive to do a split they tore me up I ran for my life, I was just beating them off they were in my house It was a very bad day for me I got stung over 100 times I looked like a monster when it was all over, I picked up over 100 dead bees off my floors in the house I am a very quick learner, I now have a bee suite and I wear it also. Again thanks for the videos u do a wonderful job teaching
I am really sorry to hear that Frances. It is all too easy for experienced beekeepers with very calm bees to give the impression that this is how beekeeping is but when you get a slightly unfriendly colony they can all start stinging very quickly. I don't want beginners to become pincushions!!! Stewart
I would also like to add how impressed I am with the comprehensive was you are dealing with each subject, again many thanks and please keep up the excellent work!
