Another interesting video, I do love the little FIAT but I think they should offer a version with with both doors AND an opening roof so you have the best of both worlds. Hi Lads from Spain. OK so it's perhaps a little trendier but the open top is not good for you, Tim, and your big C problem. A good modification for the Ami would be lift out windows in the doors so that you could get a better air-flow. The rope sides are a seriously bad idea since they offer absolutely no protection whatsoever - imagine doing the rollover test on the Monte Carlo circuit with just ropes instead of doors! Keep safe and stay happy.
Glad to see someone has taken up my idea of a backpack for the Ami. There is a certain type of rear bike rack available for cars which don't have a hitch. It consists of two thib straps that go inside the top of your hatch and hook on the inside. I drove all the way to Spain with it. Not a stir. The two bars that normally take the bike can be used to support all kinds of canvas luggage carriers. Up to about 50 lbs

Awesome video mate. The Fiat looks absolutely stunning. They definitely have great taste when it comes to design in comparison to Citroen. However, for me it would be an absolute no-go if the price was higher than the AMI. In 2011 I bought a new Toyota Yaris for 12 700EUR on sale. And it becomes kind of ridiculous when these mobility vehicles reach the 10 000EUR mark. I think they should be the half way mark between a really cheap car and a cargo e-bike. Around 6000-7000EUR seem like a reasonable price.
I am an enthusiast for everything Italian so would jump at this beautiful little piece of industrial design. Just to look at and make me smile. They should do a version without motor and battery for people like me to put on a platform in my garden to enjoy. As a car it would be entirely useless to me. I hesitate to even call it a car. But it is lovely.
The fiat with no doors is very cute …but …. It does rain in south of france sometimes very heavy rain as you know and security is a major worry . Wouldn’t do anything without a long test drive before you commit. Both models are cute and extremely stylish, and can see why you want one . Can’t wait to see what you do .
Regarding the problems of Heat in the AMI, I used to have a Honda 600, I loved that car, it never was too hot due to very simple opening & closing flap each side, down by my feet with fins incorperated into a grill that caught the breeze. I would have thought something similar could be fitted in your car. So as you drove along air would be forced inwards through the grill & out through the windows. no moving parts or noise. the only thing would be finding a suitable grill that was able to be shut & watertight when closed. John in Monmouth uk
I love what Fiat did with the Dolce Vita, and I couldn't help but wonder how feasible a road trip with Elton to Genoa might be, and if by chance Fiat and a local dealer in Italy might host you to evaluate the new models?
Back in around 1967 my second ever car was a 1953 Fiat 500C Topolino. It was left hand drive in turgid green with beige interior. The Topolino was unique but was also a potential death trap. It had a 500cc OHV aluminium block petrol engine and uniquely the front belt drove a shaft that ran through the cam cover and turned a fan at the rear of the cover. This cooled the radiator which was built at the rear of the engine, not in front. The top of the rad. had a shutter device and a large bore pipe on each side ran into the car. If the shutter was opened warm air from the top of the rad was directed though the tubes to warm the car interior. In theory fine but if the engine leaked oil back onto the rad you got oil fumes in the car. The most dangerous aspect though was that the petrol tank was built into the bulkhead between engine bay and car interior. To fill the tank you had to open the bonnet and if you looked under the dashboard you could see half of the fuel tank under there. You can imagine a frontal collision. The engine gets pushed backwards into the rad and into the petrol tank and BOOM!! Another failing was that the propshaft universal joint was a compressed thick cotton disk impregnated with some form of semi plastic to help hold it together. Mine shredded itself one Sunday in the depths of the Chilterns, leaving me with no drive at all. However it was an intriguing little car with all sorts of idiosyncrasies. Slow, noisy as I couldn't find a replacement exhaust, but with the hood right down on a sunny day it was a joy. The estate version had the wood finish you were thinking of and was called the Belvedere. And the 500B and 500C must win the prize for the ugliest car ever built. Not to be confused with the later rear engined air cooled 500D.
If there is an rear rack with fixing materials than there are one or multiple Partnumbers so you can order it for the Ami or Rocks e. Same with the outer Lid of the Spedo and even the whole roof assembly for cabrio conversion. And because you can spraypaint the whole body anyways and the emblems are normaly sticker.... Elton Cabrio conversion + conversion to the Topolino rear + shower and than complete respray in some Candy Red or hot Pink. Winter saved, Elton Unique, Mr. Boo can take an Shower on the way ....
Great video Tim and not surprised that Fiat have launched their own. As nice as it is, many of the changes like the colour binnacle hood could be 3D printed by yourselves or created fairly easily. The boot rack could be manufactured fairly easily I would imagine and you could always have Elton wrapped in a sage green wrap and fit some nice white and chrome wheel trims. The customisation options are extensive! I would save the money and do a few things to Elton instead as he’s still a fab little thing.
Really interesting. I’d never swap elton for colour it’s the heat that kills us in summer especially trying to film adventure videos. I’d love an open roof solution!
@@MeandMonAmi It should be possible - if they can cut a big hole in the roof of a van for a pop top to turn it in to a camper then surely one could fit a big sunroof to Elton. And at least then you'd still have doors! Imagine those downpours you've driven through if you were in the Fiat🤣 I don't think the Rope would provide much weather protection🤣🤣
I would wait at least one good year after the launch of the Topolino. So the first customers will discover all the problems of the Fiat for you. Buy if you want after that Fiat has corrected the burning controllers, the failing batteries, the software glitches, we can imagine a lot of things which can go wrong. Never buy a freshly launched quadricycle, specially when it would attain a price around 10000€, the price of a good used small car with airbags, air conditioning, ABS, automatic transmission and so on. The same attitude is valuable for all new products; computers, smartphones, new versions of Windows or of the overrated Apple, etc... I do not see anything striking on the Topolino. The problem of hatch or vent on the roof is pretty easy to solve in my opinion if you keep it small enough to fit it on the original plastic roof. There are many camper hatches or roof vents which are pretty easy to install. A Livpow RV Roof Vent costs 60 bucks, 70 with a 12V fan...The installation on the plastic (Lexan? Plexiglass?) transparent panel of the Ami needs very little tooling and its a breeze for a pro or at least knowledgeable guy. The Ami is very poorly designed about ventilation, I saw that immediately when I tried it. I'll wait the Chinese electric mini cars which are vastly superior in quality.
As we say in Yorkshire " Get thee 'and in tha pocket and ger it b'owt " . The Italian design houses have, and still do know how to turn heads. What a bonny little thing - you come this way once.......
I understand your wish for something a bit different in the Dolce Vita but, considering the extra cost for no doors etc I think it's money for old rope (pun intended) and a security risk as you would have to take everything valuable with you when you park up! Plus, of course, many people will be commenting "Cor! Look at the rack on that!" It does surprise me that the Fiat version with doors hasn't got the roll up sun roof as that was almost a trademark of the original Topolino and the 500 that replaced it as it is built on the same platform, cutting the hole for it shouldn't be a problem unless they thought that in wetter climates a solid top will keep the weather out more effectively.
@@gordonmcmillan4709 there is another youtuber who has an ami. He had issues so got a replacement, but the new one was even worst. ua-cam.com/video/3Q-eN_zm-QM/v-deo.html
Believe me it's not funny having no doors or windows when it's cold or raining. We have a Twizy and live in Cyprus but ours has optional doors and after market windows from South Korea fitted, otherwise we would have to decommission it and find somewhere to store it during our short winter. If you go for a no door version of the Fiat you could always splash out on a set of thermals and a pacamac each. Maybe you could look into having the glass part of Elton's roof removed and a roll back cover like on the Fiat fitted,, it doesn't look very waterproof though.
This car would be huge in the US, especially in Texas where I live. 75km (48 miles). I’d only have to stop 5 times a day. I can drink all the espresso (expresso) I want. Brilliant!
Love the style of the Fiat Topolino Dolce Vita but think you should stick with the Ami (or both!). I think Fiat have done a great job with the makeover. Would quite like one here in NZ but don't know if will be offered here. Would fit in the garage with my Abarth 500 :)
I have always loved them both. However why the hell they didn’t make a second model like the twizzy which can on B roads at least keep up with traffic , I don’t know. They even beat Renault as at least you don’t get soaked in these…..they missed a trick for sure. We could all have one in the garage 3pin plug charging…..I despair having to pay the dump prices for the alternatives on the market…..simple and cheap is what we need
My first thought when I saw the title of the video today was, yes,if it has air conditioning. I worry about you fellas driving around in the heat. The luggage rack on the back of the new car would be a plus. I don’t see the Fiat being a significant upgrade for you. I’m very fond of Elton and all the wonderful places he takes us! Until someone else offers air conditioning, I’d stay with Elton. Take care of yourselves in the heat! Love from a very flooded Vermont
I've been watching videos of small mountain towns sprinkled throughout Italy. That looks great for getting around the narrow streets etc. especially if you have a regular car for trips outside of town or access to rail or other public transportation.
Some professional 'fixes' for Elton would cost less and not have the open problem at night. I'm sure you could get a Webasto old style roof fitted and a rack for the back, does seem a shame you can't get the Fiat with the doors but roof option.
Thanks for all your very informative videos. Please post if you are able to mount the Topolino luggage rack to the back of your Ami. I am also wondering if it is possible to alter the moon roof into sun roof by enabling it to pop open in the summer to vent the heat?
I think the packaging of the Fiat is much more appealing and "car-like" than the Citroen Ami or the Opel Rocks-e. I am pondering to getbone as our daily driver, as we do not drive much these days.
What I found interesting was...wasn't one of the points of the Ami the number of body panels, as in the front and back were identical except for the light colour to cut down on costs and make replacing easier? Fiat have obviously made the rear lights look more 'normal' which makes it look a lot more car like for lack of a better description and I think it does look nicer, but does that go against one of the ideas of the platform?
I like the way fiat has developed a major difference in colors, and the two different styles over the Citroen . I am a previous owner of DS, 2cv and even a Peugeot 594 and a Renault Dauphine.
Take the doors off the AMI in the summer when it's hot like the Fiat Topolino. Looks like it would be easy to do. We injoy watching your journeys in Elton. Drive safely xoxoxo 🎉
So that is Opel and Fiat making a version of the Ami, I wonder who is next? Personally I would like Citroen themselves to concentrate on improving the Ami, especially in the quality dept. The Ami just needs a few tweaks here and there to go from being good to being brilliant.
Well I guess Stellantis are making them all so if the quality of one improves they all should (obviously leaving aside the styling differences which may bring their own glitches..)
What’s the point? And remember you already developed your Ami so well, just get it vinyl wrapped in a colour and remember that ‘Me and Mon Topolino’ doesn’t sound so good.
Perhaps they will also do an aftermarket sunroof conversion for the Ami. Would not have thought any of the roof would be structural anyway, but worth checking first!
Tim. How about getting your driving licence? A lot more choice of cars then - a Smart ForTwo like mine would be perfect for the hot summer days - aircon (and heated seats for the winter). Interestingly, in Spain you rarely see convertibles, as it is too hot to have the roof down. Test drive a Fiat to check out whether it is cooler. However, keep Elton - he is part of the family.
Love the look of the new topolino, not sure about the dolce vita version as I don’t know how practical it is without the roof and lack of doors. It will be interesting to see if fiat make accessories for theirs that can be purchased separately and that perhaps will also fit in the ami?
All these cars are mignonnes ... But what I want is an electric 2CV - with maybe a little more towing capacity than the 600cc one I used to drive so I can haul a sailing dinghy to the slipway...
this is what I want and make it electric and sans permis; its the perfect car for both. and cost the same now that the Citreon has gone up so much in pricing
Today I saw the Topolino first time 😍. The news said it comes to germany at the end of 23...one minute later my Opel Rocks-e-order I made in February was canceled !!
The Topolino is another ‘hat’ on the same Stellantis platform as the Citroën Ami and the Opel Rocks, all of them produced in Morocco. There are slight changes that also can be found in the Ami Buggy. I am very tempted to buy a Fiat Topolino Dolcevita to use at our house at the Costa Blanca.
Maybe just get your Ami spray painted in that green, order some of those retro fiat hubcaps and get a luggage rack? You’d be almost there for a fraction of the cost. Do test drive the fiat though, I want to see that video. 🤗
Hello! Thanks for this review. I'm also looking at buying la voiture sans permis and discovered this alternative to Ami - Ligier Mylo. It seems to have all the features missed in Ami (e.g., AC, space for suitcase, etc.). Did you have a chance to look at it? What do you think?
It is a lovely looking car with typical Fiat features and, as you say, clever marketing. There are many things for the Topolino as you say, however to change from an Ami would not be worth it in my opinion. I look forward to seeing your report on a test drive, however. Great video guys as always.
But when i just see the spec of the topolino dolcevita is, when its raining i see renault twizy dont have any windows and they said its an water proof so if the rain hits the insrument of the car or event the steering wheel the car wont broke, which means fiat topolino is waterproof too i think because renault twizy does not have a window like the topolino dolcevita
I really wish we could get these in America. I have a house in a closed community that uses golf carts to get around and the Ami or the Topolino would be perfect for it.
Stunning wee vehicles, so cute, and so Italian. It would be so tempting to change to the Topolino but then I'm a car person, not a financial adviser lol 🤣 Look forward to that test drive.
I believe you can fit a universal luggage frame on the ami, many on the market, only needs to bolt on the frame and have a metal plate just behing the rear plastic cover to give support. Also there's a Citroen Ami Buggy and a concept Ami One
I expect that a small vehicle with no roof is not likely to survive a tip-over, as you showed us in that interview with the Ami accident, last year. Is the insurance coverage different for the Italian aquarium?
what about the Citreon E=Mehari? it has alot of those features? and shows in a turquoise color? I would love the Dolce Vita but wouldn't want no doors; they should sell it as both with removal doors
If you want something different to the Ami then there is a company in the Netherlands who is about to make a car (quadracycle) called Squad. It has a range of 50km or 100km plus it comes with a solar panel on the roof so you can get a few more km each day (they say 20-30km extra). It also has more room for luggage, or junk. And it's got all the style and elegance that the Netherlands is known for (you'll see what I mean if you Google it). There is a problem that when I lived in Amsterdam I use to mispronounce "the Netherlands" as "the Neanderthals", my Dutch friends always found that so funny.
@@frostreaper1607 beauty is in the eye of the beholder, ... usually. The Fully Charged UA-cam channel did a review of their prototype and they need to soften the suspension and it's almost ready. But it looks like it'll be a very practical vehicle.
@@MeandMonAmi i think something a little bigger will do the job for our urban driving. We’re looking for a van type véhicule for our second hand shops in montpellier
I can sort the shower for you as I have a 12v plug in one somewhere that's not used since the VW camper got upgraded and since going French I now have a van with two showers
Only watched in case they had done a faster quadracycle version - but they have stuck with 28mph max which does not cut it in most places where roads have higher limints. In a 30 zone it is uncomfortably slow, in 40mph or more it is dangerously slow. Still waiting for one I can buy 😞
I wish we can drive these cut ones in California. I would say go with your heart. You've had yours for awhile now, it's always fun to try something different (although they are basically the same but with a bit of difference here and there). I'm sure you'll fine ways to improve Fiat, too, just like you have on yours. Looking forward in your next video as usual 😀
FIAT have done a fantastic job on the retro styling but I still like the modern quirky looks of the Ami. The Dolce Vita would be pointless in the UK so I doubt they will offer it here, perfect for sunny climes though. I don't think you should get one - you'd have to change the channel name again!
Agree! I love the color and styling, and have always wished the Ami came in different colors, (pigments embedded into the plastic, not wrapped or painted on afterwards). I love having the buttons on the dash. The buttons beside my “butt” can be really hard to find or operate, especially since the pillow I use gets in the way (not to mention the butt itself). 😜 I love the luggage rack, and I too am hoping that someone will find a way to add one to the Ami. I don’t know how “secure” a suitcase would be for protecting valuables if left on the vehicle, but hopefully one could just use the rack to transport different things. What I don’t love is paying about 2,000€ MORE than the Ami, and not getting any doors. That’s a LOT to pay for “style”. Just like the new Microlino, which starts at 17.700€ (the price of TWO Amis), there comes a point where you’re better off just buying a good used car. I personally need doors. Not just for securing it overnight, but even if you only use it to go to the beach, you’d still have to take everything out of the “car” and carry it down to the sand with you each time, or risk losing it. My other concern would be the charge chord. If it’s located in the door jam, how do you keep it from getting wet without doors to close and protect it? Did you notice where they stored it in the Dolce Vita? I’m guessing someone will also come up with a kit to allow the Ami’s glass roof to be removed, and replaced with a roll top. But I would still be concerned about water seepage in the winter, or safety should she end up upside down, or securing my belongings should someone decide to slice the canvas and enter. To me, the Ami is the “People’s Car” of electric Urban mobility (like the VW Bug before it). Part of the genius of it was Citroën figuring out how to keep the price as low as possible in order to appeal to the greatest number of people. In essence, trading style for practicality. I can live with that just fine, and don't see myself trading my Ami in anytime soon. (But then, I don't live where it ever gets too hot).
I saw pics and read about this dead sexy Topolino and wondered, immediately, if you'd change over but your reasoning for not to, makes sense. Very tempting tho I'm sure. I do love it but confess a soft spot for Elton too. I agree Citroen should me you two brand ambassadors! love Jilly (haven't forgotten I owe you guys lunch. Too long. Needs to be cooler tho. hugs x)
How about a bicycle rack instead of one for a suitcase. The bike will probably stick out a bit, because the Ami is 1.4m wide and a bike is on average 1.8m long
I must admit, the Topolino looks much more attractive than the Ami. The Topolino looking pretty and retro, whereas the Ami looks a bit weird. The Italians are certainly good with styling.
That Fiat certainly looks interesting but Tim I urge you to look at the Microlino, it’s electric and importantly classified as a quadracycle, so presume you would be able to drive it. The Microlino is a modern take on the bubble car and it’s faster that the Citroen and Fiat, so you’d have less bother having traffic sitting on your tail. Cheers 😁
@@MeandMonAmi Just Googled it. Due to the higher speed of the Microlino you would need a driving licence. But hey, you’ve become a really good driver since getting Elton so pretty sure you’d pass a driving test.

Thanks a ton! We only paid 6.5k or thereabouts for our Ami
Lol it’s very lovely as is the Ami but on in a different more utilitarian way
A car with no doors and a travelling dog is not really a good idea. Stick with what you know, if it's not broke don't fix it.
That’s another good point
From what I can see the Topolimo seems like a nice upgrade of the Ami. I have a feeling it will be a perfect addition for you and Mr. Boo! 💖💖💖
I love what Fiat did with the Dolce Vita, and I couldn't help but wonder how feasible a road trip with Elton to Genoa might be, and if by chance Fiat and a local dealer in Italy might host you to evaluate the new models?
Indeed would be a great trip!
Can't wait to see you both taking a ride in the Topolino!
We can’t wait!
Thanks what a lovely insight. Plus ça change!;
Lovely - but with no doors what happens when it rains?
Absolutely!
@@OldCarsNewVan indeed the only issue is that the Ami has a pretty think plastic roof but if Fiat can do it…
I would wait at least one good year after the launch of the Topolino.
Looks beautiful. Mrs B loves her LaPrima 500 esp. the soft top. I think this one “out cutes” it! However having no doors, I would worry about Twiggy.
Indeed mr boo would need to wear his pawaboo!
Topololino or Ami with a folding roof is the answer. I have a VW up! GTI with a sliding glass roof and if it's not raining the roof is open!
J'adore la TOPOLINO et je comprend parfaitement votre analyse , le toit ouvrant avec des portières serait top!
As we say in Yorkshire " Get thee 'and in tha pocket and ger it b'owt " . The Italian design houses have, and still do know how to turn heads. What a bonny little thing - you come this way once.......
Yes it’s clever styling for sure
I understand your wish for something a bit different in the Dolce Vita but, considering the extra cost for no doors etc I think it's money for old rope (pun intended) and a security risk as you would have to take everything valuable with you when you park up! Plus, of course, many people will be commenting "Cor! Look at the rack on that!"
It does surprise me that the Fiat version with doors hasn't got the roll up sun roof as that was almost a trademark of the original Topolino and the 500 that replaced it as it is built on the same platform, cutting the hole for it shouldn't be a problem unless they thought that in wetter climates a solid top will keep the weather out more effectively.
Oh we couldn’t use it year round. Who could? We need an ami with detachable doors and roof for summer!
Both micro EV are suitable for Indian roads if lunch with reasonable prices. Topolino with close roof top is good for tropical weather
Indeed!
stick with your ami. The extra cost and possible built issues with the latest models.
Oh we love our Ami but for summer (if we had the moolah!) how we’d love to have no doors and a open roof
Ami and Topo are both built in the same Morocco factory, presumably by the same people ...
We have a Twizy without doors, but only used around our farm in Wales. Full wet weather gear needed when it rains a lot
Yes I’d love that and I agree no doors in winter is no good!
How about you lend one for an extended test drive (when available), and decide then? 😉👍 - the open top is a quite nice touch….
That sounds a great plan!
Both would be lovely but I’d have to come up with a cunning plan. Don’t worry we still love Elton (it’s just the heat!)
If you got something to hold a case on the back it could be a My Ami Vice?!
I think Barrie got there first!
I really like a Fiat Topolino like that, but I wouldn't want to trade it in for my Opel Rocks Electric because I'm more than happy with it!
It’s only the doorless thing that attracts us because of the heat but it’s not a year round option for us!
I tend to agrée though we’d love to try the open roof version and see if an improvement
I've been watching videos of small mountain towns sprinkled throughout Italy. That looks great for getting around the narrow streets etc. especially if you have a regular car for trips outside of town or access to rail or other public transportation.
Absolutely. We’ve done quite a few in Italy (see Italian playlist)
I've read that the stipe in front will cover your stuff and there Is kind of cover for the two sit that can became towels. I am il love!
That’s it
when I saw the topolino, without even knowing it, I saw Ami under the plastic... I was right hahaha... I'm looking forward to seeing your review!
Some professional 'fixes' for Elton would cost less and not have the open problem at night. I'm sure you could get a Webasto old style roof fitted and a rack for the back, does seem a shame you can't get the Fiat with the doors but roof option.
Yes though I’ve now been sent a pic of a door and open roof version.. weird
Thanks for all your very informative videos. Please post if you are able to mount the Topolino luggage rack to the back of your Ami. I am also wondering if it is possible to alter the moon roof into sun roof by enabling it to pop open in the summer to vent the heat?
I think topolino is very well designed. They really think about how to use spaces.
I think the packaging of the Fiat is much more appealing and "car-like" than the Citroen Ami or the Opel Rocks-e. I am pondering to getbone as our daily driver, as we do not drive much these days.
We love our Ami heat issues aside
What I found interesting was...wasn't one of the points of the Ami the number of body panels, as in the front and back were identical except for the light colour to cut down on costs and make replacing easier? Fiat have obviously made the rear lights look more 'normal' which makes it look a lot more car like for lack of a better description and I think it does look nicer, but does that go against one of the ideas of the platform?
That’s a very good point! I wonder…
I like the way fiat has developed a major difference in colors, and the two different styles over the Citroen .
I am a previous owner of DS, 2cv and even a Peugeot 594 and a Renault Dauphine.
I think they’ve done a good job at going for a different demographic in styling terms
Thought your would like it as you answered my comment last Sunday, pity Fiat don't make one with removable doors, best of both worlds then
Thanks. Yes lots of people saying that . Maybe down the line?
Take the doors off the AMI in the summer when it's hot like the Fiat Topolino. Looks like it would be easy to do. We injoy watching your journeys in Elton. Drive safely xoxoxo 🎉
We’d love to but we have so much gear in there to film it would be a nightmare and also it lives on the street
It’s not the colour (we love the ami colour) it’s the heat and the door less ness that tempts us
Perhaps they will also do an aftermarket sunroof conversion for the Ami. Would not have thought any of the roof would be structural anyway, but worth checking first!
I don’t think it’s structural really so it must be possible
@@MeandMonAmi Yeah the one on the new Fiat didn’t look that technical either, no motors or glass to worry about. 😉
I think Fiat has done a very good styling job that fits in with the Fiat family. 👏
It does!
I’m hoping to test an ami buggy too to see if what you say about the open roof is true. It’s crossed my mind that you could fry in a different way
Love the look of the new topolino, not sure about the dolce vita version as I don’t know how practical it is without the roof and lack of doors. It will be interesting to see if fiat make accessories for theirs that can be purchased separately and that perhaps will also fit in the ami?
Yes I think they will fit
Presumably the sun-roof could be reverse engineered/fit a 'Fiat' roof..?
I can’t see why not!
It's not going to look quite as chic when you unload the bucket of Halfords accessories on the dash which you've found you need.
Indeed!!
All these cars are mignonnes ...
But what I want is an electric 2CV - with maybe a little more towing capacity than the 600cc one I used to drive so I can haul a sailing dinghy to the slipway...
Has no one done one yet?
this is what I want and make it electric and sans permis; its the perfect car for both. and cost the same now that the Citreon has gone up so much in pricing
That bloke in Oxford is doing 2CVs EV, but mainly as a van for boutique businesses . . Hence the price £40k . See the late Brake Show

Thanks Jane!
I think you want one! See what you can get for Elton.
Today I saw the Topolino first time 😍. The news said it comes to germany at the end of 23...one minute later my Opel Rocks-e-order I made in February was canceled !!
Wowzer. It’s very seductive as is the marketing
Yup great villa/second home car
Staying with my AMI (Rupert)..
great Ami Videos
We love ours!
Maybe just get your Ami spray painted in that green, order some of those retro fiat hubcaps and get a luggage rack?
You’d be almost there for a fraction of the cost.
Do test drive the fiat though, I want to see that video. 🤗
TBH the heat issue is our main one with the Ami.
Hello! Thanks for this review. I'm also looking at buying la voiture sans permis and discovered this alternative to Ami - Ligier Mylo. It seems to have all the features missed in Ami (e.g., AC, space for suitcase, etc.). Did you have a chance to look at it? What do you think?
Watch this space..
Stick with the Ami, you are in France afterall 😎🇫🇷 Having said that, Fiat have got the styling of the Topolino spot on 😉🇮🇹
The interesting thing is I think Citroen have got it spot on too. They are both glorious design wise in different ways
It is a lovely looking car with typical Fiat features and, as you say, clever marketing. There are many things for the Topolino as you say, however to change from an Ami would not be worth it in my opinion. I look forward to seeing your report on a test drive, however. Great video guys as always.
Thanks. I really want to see how much cooler (or not) we’d be in Summer
They really would
Stunning wee vehicles, so cute, and so Italian. It would be so tempting to change to the Topolino but then I'm a car person, not a financial adviser lol 🤣 Look forward to that test drive.
Yes a trial would be great
I believe you can fit a universal luggage frame on the ami, many on the market, only needs to bolt on the frame and have a metal plate just behing the rear plastic cover to give support. Also there's a Citroen Ami Buggy and a concept Ami One
Thanks my worry was there was nowhere to really attach it to but Fiat seen to have found somewhere so there must be!
I expect that a small vehicle with no roof is not likely to survive a tip-over, as you showed us in that interview with the Ami accident, last year. Is the insurance coverage different for the Italian aquarium?
I think most quads have less safety features
what about the Citreon E=Mehari? it has alot of those features? and shows in a turquoise color? I would love the Dolce Vita but wouldn't want no doors; they should sell it as both with removal doors
Yes the e Mahari is lovely but even further out of our price range and needs a licence
@@MeandMonAmi oh! I didn't realize its not a sans permis! well bummer good to know
If you want something different to the Ami then there is a company in the Netherlands who is about to make a car (quadracycle) called Squad.
Thanks Mathew I shall check it out!
Seems like a well thought out 'car' with swappable batteries, airco and removable doors. To bad its ugly as sin, jfc what where they thinking...
@@frostreaper1607 beauty is in the eye of the beholder, ... usually.
The Fully Charged UA-cam channel did a review of their prototype and they need to soften the suspension and it's almost ready. But it looks like it'll be a very practical vehicle.
Great video, thanks, Would hope they'll get a model with doors and the opening roof...cannot see what would stop that...
The only thing I believe you've overlooked is what will you rename your brand?
No renaming!!
This looks great but a lift up boot for all your beach gear would make it perfect!
There more room behind the seats than you’d think
you already lives the dolce vita with an ami 😃
poor elton , how dare you even think of abandon him 🥲
I do have a horrible fear he’ll go on strike tomorrow!
i want a topolino so badly but im in the states.
That’s going to be tricky
If this car lives up to Fiat’s reputation it comes down to a choice between styling features v the steering wheel staying attached!
I suspect the steering wheel is the ame as the ami!
I have subscribed. I get the feeling something like this car will replace my diesel SUV.
welcome. Our Ami has been great
@@MeandMonAmi i think something a little bigger will do the job for our urban driving. We’re looking for a van type véhicule for our second hand shops in montpellier
I can sort the shower for you as I have a 12v plug in one somewhere that's not used since the VW camper got upgraded and since going French I now have a van with two showers
brilliant. The first ami with a shower
Thanks Ron. I suspect they won’t be here til early next year so we have plenty of time to ponder
Mr Boo never looks happy being driven in areas with sheer drops - with just a rope between him and that drop I sense mild panic would ensue at best.
Now that is a very good point. He hangs onto the window as it is!
We’re in France too, seriously toying with the idea of getting an Ami, but hate the gray colour. So the fiat to us is gorgeous.
I genuinely love the Ami colour and certainly wouldn’t change for that reason. For me it’s the heat in summer
FIAT have done a fantastic job on the retro styling but I still like the modern quirky looks of the Ami. The Dolce Vita would be pointless in the UK so I doubt they will offer it here, perfect for sunny climes though. I don't think you should get one - you'd have to change the channel name again!
Indeed we ain’t changing the name or getting rid of Elton
I love the luggage rack, and I too am hoping that someone will find a way to add one to the Ami.
Lots of great points I agree with. The dolce vita is a fun villa car or weekend summer car but you need to be able to afford that hobby!
If you had your top converted to the canvas top like the Fiat it might be all you need.
Yup!
Too long. Needs to be cooler tho. hugs x)
looks good with sun roof, looks a bit more refined
The roof cover looks classy I agree
How about a bicycle rack instead of one for a suitcase. The bike will probably stick out a bit, because the Ami is 1.4m wide and a bike is on average 1.8m long
Yes I think a light bike rack might work but not sure about my e-kilo e bike
It's fundamentaly the same car with a refit for the climate. So I'd personally consider it if it worked for you.
That’s what tempts is the climate thing but much more investigation needed!
The shower function of the Dulce Vita is actually quite genius, especially considering the increasing temperatures in Italy and the South of France.
Just a gimmick, yes its fun but when its hot the water is also hot hotter etc.
I must admit, the Topolino looks much more attractive than the Ami. The Topolino looking pretty and retro, whereas the Ami looks a bit weird. The Italians are certainly good with styling.
I love the styling of both (they seem well targeted at different markets) But yes its definitely an Italian spin..
Cheers 😁
It’s lovely but I think it needs a licence?
@@MeandMonAmi
Just Googled it. Due to the higher speed of the Microlino you would need a driving licence. But hey, you’ve become a really good driver since getting Elton so pretty sure you’d pass a driving test.
It wouldn't surprise me if Renault got on the bandwagon and designed a body with styling cues from the 4CV.
