I’ve actually adapted my taste buds to like 90 percent dark chocolate. It’s a very deep and rich flavor, though an acquired taste. Didn’t know I was basically doing amphetamines tho…
Dark chocolate was delicious when i was young but now tastes like shit
Same here i even eat toasted cacao nibs sometimes

@@jimmytimmy3680 Agreed, I hate beer(but is it really how piss tastes?), and I agree with your second comment, if I'm going to drink alcohol then only if it's a higher percentage(Slavic blood obliges, I like vodka), otherwise apple juice is good for me
This makes me wanna experience real chocolate
I heard it’s terrible
Don't do it it's awful
My mom made me try it as a kid n I'll never do that shit agn, it sounds good but like vanilla extract and buttermilk, it's terrible on its own (she also made me try that, don't drink that shit)
I really like pure cocoa chocolate with coffee; it is not sweet , more bitter but it tastes good for me even though I dont like bitter stuff usually
(Lindt has a series of 99% & 100% chocolates)
ok so 100 percent pure cocoa is something in the ranges of biting on dead dry cardboard that has a weird taste...now yeah it tastes horrible but its maybe worth for the relaxation you get afterwards...well I ate it and yeah I havent been this calm in years
oh and also after some time you'll adapt to the taste, it actually gets pleasent after a while and I mean after consuming 2 bars about every week for like 2 months
A couple of months ago I quit all added sugars and most processed foods, and when your body regulates (insulin levels, leptin, taste, etc) you begin to be less hungry and appreciate the flavors of real food. Even 99% dark chocolate, something that I found quite terrible, began to taste good.
So my recommendation is to eat real food, you'll lose weight, appreciate flavors and improve your health.

Well this explains a lot. I started going on a no-sugar-added diet a year and a half ago, and one food that I started eating excessively was this banana pudding I would make by mashing bananas and mixing it with unsweetened cocoa powder and peanut butter. As my tastes shifted and I came to enjoy bitter flavors a lot more, I would put more and more cocoa powder into the pudding. I never don't feel awesome after eating it... and now I know why.
Quite a good snack idea!
That sounds fucking bomb
Note to self:
• Chocolate contains these compounds:
- Caffeine ☕
- (Theobroma 🌴 ->) Theobrom-ine
- Phenyl-ethyl-amine
- (Ananda 😄 ->) Anand-amide
• Caffeine and Theobromine are very similar in structure and block adenosine receptors.
- Adenosine causes neurons to fire at a slower speed -> tired
- If blocked prevents from becoming tired
- Theobromine, the main stimulant, makes chocolate toxic to dogs due high concentration
• Phenyl-ethyl-amine is similar to a-m-ph-et-amine which in turn is similar to meth-amphetamine ("meth")
- Meth is a stimulant, which due similar structure makes the 2 previous ones also stimulants. (Not as strong tho)
-> Release Dopamine and Nor-epinephrine.
- Dopamine -> happy
- Norepinephrine -> jittery & aware (increased heartrate and bloodsugar levels)
• Anandamine (cannabinoid)
- Binds to same receptors as THC (Tetra-hydro-cannabinol)
-> Feeling high
- Effect is short lived due our body having an enzyme for anandamine
• The more concentrated the chocolate the more potent the chocolate is in these compounds.
- White choclate isn't really a chocolate
- Milk choclate is only around 12% choc.
- Dark chocolate is great
- Baking chocolate is most you can get

Cacao is great when paired with ginger, as theobromine is a cerebral (brain) vasodilator (opens up blood vessels for better blood flow) and ginger is an antioxidant, so I pair them together in a fruit smoothie first thing every day and I can think noticeably better soon after drinking it. It immediately clears up any brain fog I have (from inflammation) or any residual sleepyness from just waking up. Two amazing plants.
Wait I just ate a meal with ginger and chocolate right after, what a coincidence ( i almost never buy ginger)
Cocoa is already an antioxidant
That’s interesting because I crave ginger when I get a migraine.
How about raw cacao powder mashed together with ripe bananas? (Try it, it's delicious!)
I despised dark chocolate till I learned it was medicinal😊 I've been adding cacao to my morning coffee recently. Tasty, I also blend in butter.
This sound tremendously scrumptious
Just beware that some dark chocolate brands have been found to contain lead, see the consumer reports article on it.
This transition to the ad is unbelievable good 😂
It's worth mentioning Phenylethylamine has such a short half-life due to metabolism by MAO-b that it's unlikely it'll cause enough stimulation to TAAR1 to affect mood.
Didn't know that, thanks!
Cadbury dairy milk chocolate apparently has 26% chocolate in it which is probably why it’s the only chocolate I enjoy on its own (I’ll eat a Kit Kat for example but wouldn’t eat Kit Kat’s pure chocolate slab if they had one. I’ve also tried Hershey’s and it was so weird and not chocolatey at all.) I live in South Africa and I know there are differences around the world with chocolate brands, so my experience with different chocolates could be different to someone else.. but I feel that Cadbury and Nutella are the only chocolates that do it for me. Other than that I use Dutch process cocoa powder in desserts or hot cocoa. Chocolate covered strawberries are unequivocally superior to chocolate covered pretzels. And Lindt sucks ass. - weird aftertaste. I chose violence today.
Ah, another true one of culture! Always been a Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate fan, I'd like to try their dark chocolate as well

I found this channel a week ago. Dude, you're the science teacher I wish I had.
So, going WAY back when I was a little kid, I LOVED dark chocolate, which was considered odd. One could find it only in Hershey Special Dark, Mounds, Junior Mints, and York Peppermint Patties (still my fav to this day). Now they have Dark Chocolate M&Ms, Kit-Kats, these high-end bars and truffles. 😋 I once tried a bar laced with hot chili pepper. What an experience!😍

Your vids are the best to watch just before sleeping, it keeps your mind thinking.
This video is fun but the thing is phenethylamine is usually broken down too fast before feeling it by a monoamine oxidiaser, however chocolate has MAOI's wich you should have mentioned.
The best way to experience the chocolate effects are not eating, it's drinking,
i mix 3 tbsp cacao powder in hot water, drink on empty stomach when waking up, then 30 minutes later i take 2000 mg L tyrosine, a dopamine an adrenaline precursor, and i take 200 mg caffeine pill. 20 minutes later im stimmed.
It gives insane productivity enhancement and music sounds better, and feels exactly the same as 25 mg amphetamine, i actually call this combination ''legal amphetamine''. It's the same feeling, the MAOI's in the cacao powder make the L tyrosone stronger since the dopamine and other monoamines aren't broken down as fast without the chocolate.
It's not really euphoric, it's just good for productivity and helps with focus . It helps REALLY well. As much as amphetamine however tolerance to L tyrosine builds fast so i do this only once a week
You're right, 2000mg of L-tyrosine is waaay too much. The author whether meant 200mg of L-tyrosine or used pure tyrosine. Or maybe just has such a strong tolerance. Please, anyone who wants to try that on their own, check the dosage first and adjust to your own body. Everyone is different and needs another dose.
have no idea with these all chemistry, but this is really entertaining lol
**Sighs**
*Goes to kitchen, opens drawer and takes out backing chocolate*

Just wondering, yes, it may take 75000mg of theobromide to kill a 75kg man, but with there being a good chunk of caffeine in the chocolate (something like 200mg per 100g) surely the caffeine would kill you first? Considering the FDA recommends not going over 400mg and that multiple people have died surpassing or even reaching 400mg of caffeine
Very much appreciate the video, enjoyed it a lot! I just want to clarify so I understand, whenever you say “chocolate” you refer to coco?
I haven't tried this for myself (although I want to), but I've heard that 100% cacao with an orange is ambrosia 👌
I’ve been really curious about trying brewed cacao as a replacement to coffee. I love coffee, but tolerate caffeine poorly. Cacao has a similar taste to coffee, but less caffeine and a milder stimulant theobromine. I can’t help but wonder how it would be!

I've also made real hot chocolate (not from powdered cocoa) with home made chocolate that was sent to me from the Philippines and nothing compares.
Ah yes, 50 grams of milk chocolate contains 56 grams of theobromine
He said milligrams
yeah that was my question so how do you make the dark baker's chocolate taste good enough to eat bake with it or will that depreciate that ingredient
I knew it wasn't just the placebo effect making me feel good whenever I eat strong dark chocolate.
I’ve had 100% Chocolate before. And god, I wish it was as good for my attention as my amphetamine based Stimulant medication. I enjoy the taste of very dark chocolates, but they seem to have a similar effect on me as antihistamines. I get tired and just want to sleep.
I used to literally be addicted to chocolate, I don't mean to sound like an advert but calorie counter apps helped me a lot, they slapped me in the face cause I got up to 21st 6lbs (around 300lbs) and was eating 4000kcal a day, seeing the numbers just helped me a lot, I'm 18st now (250lbs) and I'm eating 1500kcal in a day, the trick is to swap and moderate, so instead of a lot of milk chocolate, eat a portion or two of dark chocolate

im drinking cacao (mixing hot water with cacao powder and add some stevia in it) for a month now, have about 50grams of pure cacao powder a day, i feel great. Firstly, i think it;s cause i replaced my coffee with cacao, so i am not that stimulated and irretable. A question - does fat content of cacao powder matter? i found 10% 15% and 20% cacao powders, i like fatter version the most, they look darker, the y taste more saturated, but i couldnt find much info about it. Dark chocolate= caffeine- 75 milligrams... Theobromine- 426 milligrams
Sorry I had to, my mind started swirling thinking how 50gm of dark chocolate can have 8 times weight theobromine in it
how long it takes for the body to retain the chemicals that is affected by chocolate?
Blasphemy! Orange chocolate is chef's kiss.
I'd think non-dutched cocoa powder would be 2x as strong. As half the mass in even the darkest chocolate is cocoa butter.
Lindt's 100% bar is amazingly smooth & tasty. Pair it with some fresh berries when snacking on it.
I ate a bite of bakers’ chocolate as a kid. It was horrendous.
Side note: I have a few clients that are flavor and fragrance manufacturers. Giant vats of chocolate flavor and coffee fragrance smelled horrendous. It also permeates your clothes and I couldn’t wash it off for a day or two.
so how strong are the effects? because if there’s any substantial effect then there’s no way in hell i’m ever eating chocolate again.
How strong did the effects feel the last time you had chocolate?
im watching this as eating a fun sized bag of m&ms...ive had this same bag for 3 days. i eat when when i wake up, for a snack, and before bed. chocolate is by far my favorite sweet treat. i love m&ms
This is why I eat a bar of dark chocolate a day, the meth like hits help my ADHD
cacao nibs are so delicious, i don't find them so bitter and they have a very fruity taste along with the chocolate taste, i have tasted some raw vegan chocolates that have retained that delicious fruity flavour of the cacao nibs and it makes the chocolate so much more enjoyable. I also think it depends on the manufacturer because once i had the 92% Vivani chocolate and it was not bitter and was sweetened with coconut nectar but then i tried a 55% chocolate and it was extremely bitter
for pretzel vs straw berry it feels like caramle vs straw. It depends if u want sweet x sweet or sweet x savory
